The whole native resolution thing is one of the limitations of fixed pixel displays. The old CRT HDTVs can do both 480p and 1080i natively.

If you could put a super fast and really good upscaler/deinterlacer in them, then it would largely be ok.

Right now you're going to have to buy a standalone video processor for high fidelity legacy output, but the entry cost is absurd.
As far as films, I dont watch movies, so thats a non-issue. I certainly understand that a lot of stuff is lost in the transition to consumer end video.

HDTVs will always be laggy with non-HD games.

But that is no reason for bias against HD consoles which play fine on HDTVs. Just keep an SDTV around if you want to play old games. I don't care as I don't give a shit about playing old games, but it's easy enough to have an SDTV around for old games and HDTV for new games, Blu Rays, HD TV etc.

yeah, having a nice SDTV will always be better/cheaper than doing everything on your HD set.

I don't give a fuck about most TV so I just use a widescreen computer monitor and an old SDTV for my gaming.

Nah, the economies of scale for TVs and other consumer electronics mean that HDTVs should replace SDTVs completely. LCD monitors have all but replaced CRT monitors for mainstream PC users already.

That is true. It will be hard to find them in a few years.

Oh well, either HDTVs will get better at SD content or people like DMK who care about playing old games will have something to bitch about.
Does the PS3 version have trophies?
No.
I dont watch movies,
Why does this not surprise me?

It had crossed my mind to pick up a few extra $25 TVs from craigslist if the digital crossover ends up with people dumping their sets on the cheap. If I could get a HDTV for that much, I'd pretty much have to just because it was cheap.

I put up some collection PIX on my user blog.

Check them out! It features BITCHIN RAD alternate Resident Evil REmake cover art!

I turned it off immediately

I find it much easier (read: less frustrating) to use the analog for after touch.
The kai demo has me fearing the parts of the game where you use her and her abilities, as the demo for her kicked my ass all over the floor. :( maybe I'd do better with analog instead of sixaxis.

Mak, is there an in game tutorial for the combat? The demo wasn't very good about that...

THAT'S too many 360 games? Then I have a ridiculous amount of 360 games.

Yeah I probably have 10 or so. I ditch most on Goozex after beating them, so just have what I'm actively playing, some stuff I want to replay (i.e. evil path in Mass Effect) if I get time and stuff like Guitar Hero 2 and 3 that can always be played when in the mood.

Everything to the left of and including last remnant in my pic is backlog..

I would have thought you'd own a lot more games. My 360 collection (and backlog) is gonna surpass yours pretty soon.

You do sell games though, which I pretty much never do.

The last game that I owned and sold was GTAIV, and before that, it was Area 51 for PSX (and that was when it came out :p )
I dunno if I'm gonna get a response to this, but...anyone getting that Prinny PSP game?

:p
I'm thinking about it. I'm also thinking about getting Ar tonelico 2 as well...

I'm not going to lie but I was completely ignoring it until I saw that Ar Tonelico 2 print on rosenqueen. Which I would totally get... if it wasn't $300.
is that a gunbuster fig on the far right Rei?
Yeap, that a gunbuster figure. I regret not getting that...

Nice Rei--I forgot ME had a CE too.

The figures remind me that the shitty yen to dollar means I can't buy my RAH limited Chun Li. Or Odin Sphere Gwendolyn. T_T

I'm counting on you, LiK. Lol, I don't think that guy reads this thread, but oh well...

I don't really like that RAH Chun-Li figure. Something just looks off...

Wow I have a small collection 7 ps2 games, 6 ps3 games, a handful of psx games, 3 I play and the other 10 are trading fodder.

And 4 wii games.

Now about two years ago when I joined the site I went nuts I had just gotten a ps2 and I owned an xbox, I had at least 18 games for the xbox and maybe 25-30 games for the ps2, plus my DS which I had 10 games for. Alas I sold most it to pay for other things. And I didn't play my DS very much.

Makes me wanna go dig up pics of my collection back when I had 50+

On a diff note; finding a copy of Lumines on PSP is way harder than it should be. Also props to GS for price gouging the fuck outta me and charging me $20 for a used copy. OH well last $20 they'll ever get from me for a PSP game.

Yah, I've heard others make that comment.

But dayum, it's a fully articulated Chun Li~!

Spinning bird kick! Kikkouken!

True, but that doesn't make up for the fact she doesn't look right. I like that RAH Motoko Kusanagi figure more. It's just too bad they did use her Season 1 or 2 outfit.

Just got done playing the Skate 2 demo. Pretty fun. Plus I gotta give props to any game/demo in which the first song you hear is Sleep Now in the Fire. :) I wonder how Skate 1 will compare. Its $29.99 right now on Amazon. I'm thinking perhaps I should check it out.

Its a quasi tutorial. They sorta tell you how to do things but dont get too in depth. But they do let you play for a while in a section where wave after wave of people try to get in to the fort. There's no penalty if you miss them so its basically target practice. And yeah, if you're anything like me, you'll want to turn the sixaxis after touch off and use the analog stick. It's wayyyy easier that way. The Kai section
protecting your dad on the bridge
has been my favorite part so far.

That's good -- the demo was similar to that, but I don't think your dad was involved... something about a jail cell maybe.

And Sleep Now in the Fire is quite possibly the worst song RATM ever recorded.

Counted my games. 13 360 games, 7 DS games and 2 GC games (Ocarina of Time and The Zelda Collector's Edition)--should sell those two since I don't have a GC or Wii.

A few of the 360 games are listed on Goozex and just on long wait. A couple are old games and not worth trading--college hoops 2K6 (brother gave it to me as he forget to throw it in when he sold his 360), Fight Night Round 3 etc.

My collection is still fairly large, even after selling some things. Out of all my systems, I have the most games for PS2 with 100+. I'll count later for fun. I'm curious as to how many games I actually have.
Agree 100%. Hopefully it is just the typical internet case of a boring, shy person in life who doesn't have much of a voice in his social circle (if he has one) trying to be unique and have a voice (however absurd) on the net.

Like I've said so many times, if he's so against technological advances, what the fuck is he doing on the internet?
I've met Dr. Mario Kart and though we don't always agree on things regarding gaming, I can totally vouch for him being a cool (and pretty smart) guy with what seemed like some great friends. Just my two cents.
Is blue dragon worth ten bucks?
Although I've liked turn-based RPGs, definitely not. I really wanted the game and was wanting it more than LO (although I ended up loving LO after playing it). In the end I just couldn't get into it and traded it into GameStop.

PS3GamesK.jpg

I no longer own Devil May Cry 4 (I liked the game, but I'll admit I haven't played it in several months and will never play it again), DiRT (I love the game, but I own too many racers and since DiRT 2 is coming this year I'll move to that), and Silent Hill: Homecoming (I didn't think it was too bad, but I rather just spend my time with Siren: BC and Dead Space)

WiiGamesE.jpg
That's the comparison between my PS3 and Wii Collection. I need to update my 360 collection picture one day (which is why I didn't post it). I pretty much happy with all my PS3 games except maybe one (but I'm keeping it for a certain reason). With my Wii, most I'm happy with, but need to play Sonic more (I got it for Christmas).

In case people don't know, the top left game is Battle Fantasia Asia Import. My collection will be back up to 41 for sure because I'll be buying Killzone 2, Sonic Mega Genesis Collection (or whatever it's called), and SFIV for :ps3:. SO4 will be bought on 360.

You need to alphabetize all your games like I do Jer. ;)

Anyway, I actually believe you. The thing is, almost anyone who has met me in real life are 100% surprised who I am in real life. On forums I may come across as a bit mean at times, too defensive, nerdy, or whatever. But in reality I actually seem more normal, although I can do a few weird things like overachieve in school. Only thing similar for me between reality and online is my disliking for alcohol. :p

Hey GGT! Quick question (Rei should know the answer...) Does the retail version of Ar Tonelico 2 come with the soundtrack + artbook? There's a couple of online retailers that specifically says it does, but some (like Amazon) don't even mention it. Just wanted to figure out where I should get the best deal.
