I still have a blast playing Halo 3 online with friends. The amount of idiots who feel the need to annoy you are on every game, XBL or Halo 3 are no exception.

There's always countless of neat gametypes and map variants to keep it fresh and fun. I don't worship the game like many people, but I still have a lot of fun with it, and only a few games have come close to that for me (IE: COD, L4D).

I can see why people might dislike and I can see why people love it. I'm definitely in between. I've been playing since the first one came out when I was 12 though, so I tend to have nostalgia as well.

Halo 3 was fun, I'll admit. But I never saw what everyone else saw in it. The most fun I had playing it was in 4-player co-op, and I kept screwing with my friends on the last level, where you're supposed to keep driving.

EDIT: Haha, is that really Puma? Dude looks like an 11-year old!

The only resident evil game to ever scare me was the second one (because I never played the first at the time it came out). Nemesis made me jump a few times , but it wasn't really scary , and neither was any of the other games.

Where'd all this hate for Halo come from? I can understand not liking it that much , but to think its an awful FPS? I've played a lot of FPS games and the Halo series still stands as one of my favorites. Maybe not the best series , I'm not going to say its the best FPS EVER , but certainly one of the most solid overall.

Also , I never got into the multiplayer for the game until the 3rd one (no online access to online play when the second came out). I always was more into the series for the campaign then the multiplayer. At the time I did more local multiplayer and found Timesplitters suited my needs better.

Very good point. When I have a 12 year old screaming idiot in my group in L4D, it is annoying, but this does not a bad game make.

The halo series could have been more epic, like the first one was, but they definitely focused on the multiplayer aspect instead of the single player, and it stands out when you play the second and third campaign.
The matchmaking was probably the best for its time (Halo 2/Xbox Live), but now there's plenty of decent and AAA titles, that include a great single and multiplayer experience, so Halo no longer stands out like it used to or holds much exclusive features.
What I like about Halo I guess, is I am used to it, and it's fun for me, and there's a lot you can do between forge, and the map/game varients, but other than that, it isn't that great anymore, since there's a lot of competition this time around.

You would have had to be trying pretty hard in 2002 not to have enjoyed Silent Cartographer at least.

That shit was epic back then.

I still think taking out the Scarab in the rain was cool. Not the best game series ever, but not shit.

Halo is fun. More enjoyable than that other game on the 360 with aliens anyways.

I've had some fun times at LAN parties where all we played was Halo.

Man, I hope the sky rains jelly beans and OnLive works. I'd love a one console future... I was always against it, but I think it would be so great not worrying about which version plays the best and worry about what console is getting what exclusive.

Oh well, I'll keep waiting for that Jelly Bean storm.

The concept is interesting, but it seems really flawed and impossible for some games that require twitch/fast gameplay like racing games, twitch shooters and fighting games.

So while in a sleep induced hallucination this morning I came up with the brilliant idea to try to clear my backlog now that I have all my games listed in my collection. Maybe try to clear an entire page. Realistically I know I'll probably never accomplish this feat but it doesn't hurt to try.
There's really no connection between Halo and Madden other than some false perception of "every popular game is for stupid jocks"
:applause:

(or in some circles you can replace "every popular game" with "every American game")

Back in halo 2's prime we had a place that had a lan party every weekend. All that was played was Halo 2 (and starcraft). I was there every weekend like clockwork playing it.

I guess the reason I don't really enjoy the series anymore was because of the massive ammount of time I put into halo 2.

This, and Halo 3 didn't live up.

Finally finished Silent Hill Homecoming this weekend, I enjoyed it overall, it was no worse than the other SH games, combat seemed fine to me despite what some people have said. Just got to go back and pick up the rest of the cheesemints

Played some Outrun Online to, fun game.

Ars Technika Mole strikes again (360 + Halo 3 + Fable 2 bundle is true)

Fallout: New Vegas next year by Obsidian

Crazy stuff this morning

Howdy Ben - is King Dinosaur from a season set? And I watched Manhunt in Space this weekend. Winky talking about the gay nightlife was making me uncomfortable.

Hey Mak, no King Dinosaur is a season 2 Ep I *acquired*, infact I think someone who works for Shout said it was unlikely it would ever appear in a season set as they can't get clearance for any of the Lippert films (Rocket XM, Fire Maiderns etc).

It wasn't a bad episode, some quite funny stuff with the Joey the Lemur.

Cinematic Titanic is coming to Philly, I'm going !!!!
What goes on at that? Just a meet up with the crew and meet fans? I don't live too far from Philly ... I might make my way down for that too.
No they Riff a film live, then you can meet up with them after if you want, I'd probably just embarass myself if I met Joel :). Might be nice to get something signed though.
There's really no connection between Halo and Madden other than some false perception of "every popular game is for stupid jocks"
Ahahaha, so true. I guess they're all stuck in the same "casual gamer" genre and people like to throw anything remotely popular in there. I'm cool with that. The games are easy to pick up and play and don't require you to sit through an hour of text before even controlling your character or saving.

I'm playing through MGS2 again and this made me laugh. It made me think of what kind of game Kojima would make for the OnLive service since he wouldn't be limited to discrete file sizes.

"I'm going to need about 4TB of space, and if possible, all of your available bandwidth. MGS5 is going to have 36 hours of FMV, 6 hours of interaction."

I skip cutscenes usually these days. I'm drifting towards the pick up and play kinds of games these days. Kinda sucks because I'd like to play something like Persona 4, but knowing it's a huge committment puts me off. I'd rather play Wanted for 4 hours

I have a typical jock neighbor that plays Fatlus video games, so I guess mouth breathers with unhealthy obsessions over futanari and tentacle porn aren't the only ones who play those shitty games. Kind of weird when some dude in a muscle shirt with his arms looking like he just got done hanging some nerds from their tighty whities comes up to you right after tanning and asks "You play that Tokyo Beat Down, dawg? Shit is hot mothafuckin' fiyah! I love my DS. Keeps me busy when the nobodies are trying to work out their shit at the gym and I have to wait my turn."

4 hours? Whats taking you so long? :D

So there are stupid jocks with good taste in games? Interesting.

Halo still sucks.
So there are stupid jocks with good taste in games? Interesting.
That's pretty narrow-minded of you. :nottalking:
Why do you keep calling 'em stupid?
Exactly. I had good friends in school growing up that were jocks.
Isn't Rei a grown ass man? Why is he still living with high school stereotypes?
Because I'm an asshole?

Honestly, no offense to anyone but if you're a jock I probably don't like you. If you lose sleep over that, sorry but you'll just have to deal with that fact.
Hey Rei, if a kid of yours grew up and was a jock, would you be furious?
Nah, I'd just shake my head in disappointment at him every time I looked his way. Much as my parents do with me now.

I was just wondering why, Rei. Not a big deal to me, but did something happen when you were younger that fueled your hate for jocks?
Hey Rei, if a kid of yours grew up and was a jock, would you be furious?
He'd probably gut him and fill the insides of one of his Evangelion life size figures.

It shouldn't matter if you're a jock or not. If someone's an asshole, then you can hate. If they're not, then there's no need.

I did embarrass one of the jocks in my high-school playing basketball once.

1. He appears to be. At the very least he's small enough that his wrist watch is the size of his noggin.

2. He asked to be banned because he needed a break from CAG. Presumably to make police sketches of himself.

I got into sports later in high school. In college, it was all about pick up basketball games, just about every day/night. I also did some intramural volleyball. Now my knees are like paper mache. I blame Jordan and Gatorade for encouraging me to "Be Like Mike", lol.

Some really fat kid knocked me out with the tetherball pole when I was in 2nd grade. Got my maroon Girbaud shorts all bloodied up and my mom further ruined them with bleach. Worst day of my fuckin' life.

I guess thats what happens when you're a 2nd grader running shit on the tetherball court.

criticizing jocks on the 10th anniversary of Columbine on a gaming website?

fuck this, I'm gonna go listen to John Coltrane and lift.

Then go home and maybe try to finish RE4 for a fucking change.
