I agree. After the initial cool factor of being able to jump around really high, I got tired of Crackdown pretty quickly.
Same here. I was glad that it was a short game, and I didn't touch it after the credits rolled. It went right back up on goozex.

Went to bed a lot later than I wanted thanks to playing that Chronicles of Riddick game. :p

I did get Wii Sports Resort too, courtesy the TRU deal. I know my 5 and 3 yr old will enjoy it.

Planning to give the GC to my bro-in-law since he has a new baby and probably needs the credit for diapers. >_

what's better? Infamous? 'cause "go kill this dude and collect some orbs, so you can kill more dudes by sniping them with dump trucks" is a lot better than "uh oh, the train have feel asleep go hit box with electricity kthx"
Every mission vs one mission?
well, the timed mission in the demo was some serious shit too. I'm running around trying to figure out how to enjoy the game, then all the sudden the SMB time running out noise comes on and before I know it, the whole thing is over. I walked away feeling like I had just been assaulted by a hobo....a jaggy hobo with an ugly color palette.

Bad demo is bad.

MvC2 drops tomorrow on XBL, anyone getting it? I am not a huge fighting game person and I think I'll pick it up.

My gamestop didn't have any copies of SFIV though, thank god. My willpower failed enough with me buying Mad World.

Bump Madworld off my list.

Nice aesthetic vibe, but the meathead/goreporn feel of the game, along with what feels like non-stop repetition doesn't make me want to continue playing it.

I blame the Wii. It's not a gaming console; it's an appliance.
Azumangaman: If it's today I'd be able to make it like 9:30 and I'd be able to play pretty late since I'm not working tonight.
Cool.
Well, I'll be on at 9, so well see what happens :)

felt the same
wow, people still think like this. I thought we all figured this out that this is clearly NOT the way the wii works after playing the first few hours of Twilight Princess.

and if not then, then surely after the years of clamoring for Okami, and how that turned out to be worse than the PS2 version.

but no, good ol' Jer, busting out the "X game would be perfect on the wii" fallacy.
Except that showdown mode in WSR is almost EXACTLY a dynasty warriors game without the strategy and RPG shit. Groups of enemies approach you, and you swing a sword and hit numerous enemies at once and get combos. And it's really fun. And it works, with Wii Motion Plus. It didn't work before (as in the Dynasty Warriors Wii and Dragon Warrior Wii games), but it does work now, because it's effortless. Swing low, hit low. make a big circle, swing in a big circle.

When you approach things with an open mind like rei does, even saying nonsense like "99% of wii games are shit" doesn't affect your ability to be fair about things!

Taking away the strategy and "RPG shit" from DW makes it even more repetitive than it already is. Since repetition is the big complaint about DW, you're basically saying that "DW but worse" is amazing.

It worked in Dragon Quest Wii, as long as you didn't want to stab. Which still doesn't work with WM+.

make a big circle, swing in a big circle.
So you're playing like this?

Way to miss the point.

I didn't suggest that strategy and RPG elements be removed from dynasty warriors, I said that showdown mode is basically missing that to be a dynasty warriors type game, which isn't a bad idea, considering it's one of about 20 modes in WSR.

Stabbing works with WM+, there's specific animations for the Miis for stabbing with the remote in the swordfighting mode.

If you play like that kid is waving that thing around, that's what your character will do - maybe not the best way to go about things, but it works. I don't understand your point.

Honestly, you're not very clever. HUR HUR WII NOT REAL GAMEZ is about all you're coming up with.
Stabbing works with WM+, there's specific animations for the Miis for stabbing with the remote in the swordfighting mode.
I actually never tried stabbing in the sword game, I just know that slowing down is pretty impossible in the flying game.
Dammit, I thought that I'd never have to see that kid again. THANKS PETE.
I never really thought that video was all that funny, but I think the gif is hilarious.

x3. I got tired of MadWorld right quick.

I will just get MvC2 on PS3.

I hear there's some slowdown on 360 MvC2 in the menus, but i dunno if it's in the matches.. that sucks. Hope they do a patch, cause I'm buying that one - not that I'm hardcore at all about MvC2, I don't understand the high level play on that at all.

Lmao@you talking to me about approaching things with an open mind.

Is it really necessary to argue over shit like that?

If you like the Wii, play it and enjoy it. If you don't, don't. Who cares what others play or don't play.

I had a Wii, sold it long ago as I didn't dig motion controls at all, and hated the lack of HD once I got an HDTV. But I don't feel a need to bash it either, it just wasn't for me.
I hate those 13" Target LCDs too.

But they convinced me Batman sucked and to pass on it in the future.
It was a Sony kiosk at a gamestop...I assume that thing is running the correct resolutions (the Skate 2 demo looked fine and not 480p/480i.) I can say for sure that while yes, every Crackdown mission is the same, that also means that none of the missions in Crackdown are as bad as the two showcased in the Infamous demo

The biggest thing is that there isn't an auto lock-on, which is a must for the genre. If I'm gonna be running around a whole city and pulling off all kinds of crazy feats with my super powers, I sure as shit don't want to waste time aiming at douchebags with pea shooters.

but if I owned a PS3, I'd probably pick it up and see if it gets better.

i havent played the full infamous game, but I see it more as an alternate flavor on crackdown. not for everyone, but no need for bashing.

plus the devs hired prob the best peeps to to developer interviews on their studio... same people who did the documentary Reformat the Planet.

Finished Iron Man tonight. Despite some of the frustrating missions it wasn't too bad. The extra armors are cool though (HulkBuster armor is badass).

Gah, whenever my 2100 points arrive I'm going to have a tough decision. Braid, or Marvel vs. Capcom 2?

Was going to get one or the other, Broken Steel/Point Lookout, then the Killers pack for Rock Band/Guitar Hero.

About to play the demo now. :)

Picked up Excite Bots and Wario Shake It last night, both seem ok, Sports Resort should be turning up today.

Man, I think I want to play MvC2 again but I don't want to support the $15 price point, I'm conflicted.

No, the fact there are no fast ways to cross the city needs bashing and lots of it.

Huh. I don't recall reading any of these complaints when I read reviews of infamous.

I was thinking of buying it around $30, but I really didn't like Crackdown at all - so I reason that I wouldn't like Infamous.

Hmm. Crackdown just felt sloppily organized to me. Not designed, but organized. The game was just kinda "here, press start and then fuck some shit up." I remember a constant feeling like I was supposed to be on some path in some direction to fight one specific person in a sea of hundreds of other persons, and that whatever mechanism, if there was one, to let me know if I'm headed in the right direction was simply ineffective.

If that's what infamous is like, count me out.

That's not what inFamous is like at all. It's far more structured than Crackdown.
http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2009/07/screenwriter-tapped-for-infamous-movie/

They're making an infamous movie.

...

I'm not sure how I feel about that. (because you know they're going to change the mind blowing ending)
Has there ever been a decent movie based on a videogame?

I liked Silent Hill but I fear I'm in the minority on that one. Now every time I see a "movie based on game" announcement, I write the movie off as "likely to be shit".

Hollywood makes lotsa bad movies. Here's another.

EDIT: I fell asleep during Silent Hill when watching it in the theater. Beautiful aesthetics devoid of any actual content or plot.

MvC2, Broken Steel. No doubts.

I totally wanted to play Infamous after playing through Prototype, but GS couldn't manage to have a complete copy at any near local store when they were running the 20% used PS3 coupon a week or so ago. :( Ended up with a TE fightstick instead.
Huh. I don't recall reading any of these complaints when I read reviews of infamous.
That's because it's generally a non-issue. Induction grind into static thrusters all day, you can get where ever you need to go pretty quickly. Plus, I like running around the world killing mobs and finding shards and Dead Drops. Once you get the trains going, you can hop on them as well...
Picked up Animal Crossing for the Wii in that GS sale. There goes many hours of my life. I spent so much time with the original and WW...
I got bored after a month or two as it's exactly the same game.
