Wow, great deal on DMC4! I'd seek it out if I didn't prefer to get the 360 version.

Good morning, GGT. Started Sly 3 last night. It's okay so far, but not as good as the previous games. Also, it sounds like they changed Carmelita's voice... bleah.

Sly 3 is the worst in the series. It's still a good game, but it's just not as good as the other two. Also didn't they change Carmelita's voice in all the games. I remember she had an accent in the first game, then she didn't in the second, and then it came back in the 3rd.

Halo? 3? Recon?
Shawn Elliot was saying people will be dissapointed with how bland it is Months and Months ago. That's what painted my opinion of the game. Resistance 1 was okay, felt like it was really trying to be Call of Duty, Halo, and Half Life at the same time and failing at all of them. I thought Ratchet and Clank Future was boring. Is it not fair to have preconcieved notions based on former work?

Sorry that I didn't drink the kool-aid like the rest of the people who still own PS3s have, apparently.
The game is getting rave reviews. One dissenting opinion vs many positive doesn't automatically make me think there some 'kool-aid' effect going on.

The only things reviews tell me are, if they're all positive, that it more than likely is an enjoyable game. I don't know exactly until I play it.

If you don't like the first one, then you'll probably not like the second, but I wouldn't need "Shawn Elliot" or whoever to tell me so, and make me feel assured about it.

Gears of War 2 kicks ass so far. Put 7 or 8 hours into split screen co-op with a buddy last evening/night on Hardcore.

Will try to get some into day, either start a solo game on normal and/or play some online or Horde. But unfortunately I have a ton of work to do to get a presentation ready for a conference next week. :(
who the hell is shawn elliot? Is he one of those 1up guys that everyone on gaf worships?
I've no idea, I can't name a single game reviewer or gaming journalist.

Maybe when I was a kid, and the 4 EGM guys.
But that was when they had the 300+ page magazines.

Ed Semrad

I don't know why I remember that one guy. Heard that he didn't even write his own reviews or play games though.
Hehe. And Sushi-X.

Dang, really? Sheesh.

I still have all those EGMs, I don't have the heart to throw them away.
scroll down a little to "Semrad Tidbit #1" and read the comments section. This blog has everything you never needed to know about early EGM (the guy writes a lot about the early-mid 90s, but a lot of people in the comments sections talk about the late 80s.) It's pretty entertaining to see what was going on behind the scenes during those years. I read each month cover to cover as well and as a kid, EGM was practically mythical to me...like the coolest and luckiest guys in the world must work there  Of course, reading this makes it seem unprofessional and a bit unstable...though I should've gotten the hint when I spent my allowance renting Bubsy.

Wasn't Shawn Elliot the point guard for the Spurs in the 80's?

Nope.
That's Sean Elliott.

Shawn Elliot WAS one of 1up's best writers and a hilarious member of the GFW radio podcast. He now works for 2K Boston on Ken Levine's team (The guys behind bioshock)

It's been awhile since I played the first game, but I think she did have the same voice in that as in the second *shrug*
You guys can keep your GoW2. Valkyria Chronicles is awesome. Not to mention Tales of Symphonia 2 comes out next week...
Hopefully my relatively low expectations for Tales will serve me well. Too bad Amazon won't make it eligible for release date delivery.

It's much better than I thought. The more I play it, the more I love it.

Trying to slog through some more work for this damn presentation so I can go fire up Gears 2. Thankfully I'm making good progress.

I'll take Valkyria Chronicles and you can keep ToS 2.
You shouldn't be playing those games since they don't get amazing reviews.
Awww, and I liked them so much. Guess I'll have to just miss out on a lot of fun because some random people I don't even know don't like the games.
I'll take Valkyria Chronicles and you can keep ToS 2.
I'll be taking both.

You shouldn't be playing them because they're awful, not because someone else said they're awful.

Fact=Dynasty Warriors is 100% TERRIBLE.

Fact.

Fact=No one cares about your OPINION.

Fact.

See? I can do it too.

The GGT is going down hill lately.

Can we get back to people talking about games they're playing or looking forward to and less of this petty bickering/trolling that's been going on?

Sure.

Valkyria Chronicles is so awesome. Right up there with MGS4 and DMC4 as my favorite games of the year. It's just that good.

I'm on a mission to find a Sega CD now...ebay doesn't seem to be a good place to get one from though. Any of you know a site that just sells them?

Good idea. I just wish some people here could let us talk about games without attacking those of us with different opinions.

Yeah, VC is wicked good.

What about getting the Sonic Mega Collection +?
Doesn't that have the complete Sonic CD on it?

Only Sonic Gems has it...and that's on Gamecube so it does me no good.

I hear the Japanese version of Mega Collection + for PS2 has it, but that doesn't help either :whistle2:(
I'm trying to decide which DS game I should start playing, Time Hollow or Theresia....
Time Hollow is kind of short. Might as well play that one first.

just picked up the last copy of dmc 4 pc at target for $9.98 woo

1 problem...i need a wired 360 controller or a play and charge kit+wireless receiver =(

Just throw said people on your ignore list and be done with them....

Anyway, I'm done working on my conference presentation for the day. Going to finish up watching the penn st/iowa and alabama/lsu games (flipping back and forth) and get back into Gears 2 while listening to the WVU game on the laptop since I don't get ESPNU.

Just need to decide whether to start a solo campaign, try out horde, or give the online multi a shot. Leaning toward the first, despite getting pretty far in the campaign in co-op split screen last night. I really want to see the graphics etc. on my whole 50" TV rather than just half of it!
pc version>consoles especially for dmc 4
I'm sure it plays exactly the same...if you don't have to use a keyboard that is ;)

Play it over live, you'll see full screen and have the benefit of someone to help you, someone better than AI dom, who needs a boot up his ass.

Why do you need a P&C too? I mean, you should have one, but it's not necessary.
I agree that if you have a computer that can run DMC4 and can use a PS2/360 controller for it, then PC version is the best.
yeah but where can i find a wired 360 controller or play n charge kit+ gaming receiver cheap!?

edit: zew either i get a wired controller or dont i need a play n charge kit for my wireless controller so i can connect it to my pc

I may do that. Though I kind of like playing through once by myself. I'll just play on normal to make it less frustrating--doing Hardcore on the co-op play through, and we'll probably go through on insane eventually to. We got through hardcore and insane on the first one in split screen over the summer.

Local co-op is the shit. Will always beat online, as you just can't beat being in the same room pounding beers etc.
