Okay. Saints Row 2 is amazing. It takes what ruled about the first game, and makes it that much better. GTA style game play with a lot of humor in the dialog. I hated GTAIV... and actually most GTA games. But I played Saints Row to death, and SR 2 is just the best way to improve upon the first. Like, in the first game, you customized your character's look at the start of the game, but you don't talk. In SR2, you get to make someone from scratch again(kind of like Oblivion's create a character) and you get to pick one of three voices. So your character potentially looks different and has a voice. And the characters in game are like "oh... did you do something with your hair?" and they make jokes about you talking. Good stuff. And there is a side mission where you drive around in a septic truck and spray shit on things to devalue them. Anyway, this is the first game in a long time to just suck me in and make me want to keep playing. A+ so far.

:hot:

I'm sold, just two things: Does this game have any sort of online mode, and what's the word on the length of the game? (just main story mission stuff)

I think there's some death match-type modes. My TRU didn't get enough of the new releases for this week in yet, so I won't know until later this week I guess.

It does sound like fun, but mayng, the graphics look like an unwiped ass. Sorry, but these big production games for HD consoles need to look better than PS2 games IMO for me to want to shell out $50-$60 for 'em. :p

I'm not really sure on length... I played for about an hour and a half/two hours and I only reached a 3% and I did missions for at least 95% of the time I played, if that means anything to you. And yeah.. the graphics are kind of weak, but it doesn't really take away from the game experience for me at least.

I'm not sure what the multiplayer modes are for this one, but I know in the first one there was a death match, team death match, pimp out a car/destroy the pimped out car, and a few other modes that were more of the same. But the cool thing was you could make a Gang(clan), make your own gang sign/pick your gang colors, and customize your online avatar.

The game is good shit. And I think we'll need a GGT Gang.

Side note, I've successfully painted two of my warhammer figures. The second one came out "better" than the first, but I need a brush with a thinner bristle.
It's better than both of those. I know because I've played all three.
Lies.

Okay guys, I'm going to play Disgaea and head off to bed.

Saints Row 2... go get it. There has to be 24 hour walmarts near you guys. Just do it.

edit: My post count is 1234! I love it!

Oh nice, that free 360 suit for Dead Space really helps a lot. If you don't want the game to be easy, I wouldn't download it.

Got the goozex trade cancelled, and my 700 points back. Now I have 850 towards something I want, and 950 once this guy completes his first trade.

Yeah, those old beat-em-ups are a dying breed. And its really a shame cause now with online co-op, they would really kick ass on some of today's consoles.
Maybe I'm in the third grade which is why i like dinosaurs.
Reported for going OT in the GGT.
No one gives a shit about dinosaurs; they haven't been cool since like 3rd grade.
Dead Space is really, really good.

It's the environment of Alien(the Nostromo), the gameplay of RE4 (I think, I haven't finished RE4...yeah I know I stink...), with a new-ish limb focused gameplay...

I've only played ~20 min, but it's the best game I've played in a while
Good to hear about Dead Space. I'll probably pick it up later this week.

Is it scary tho?
Scary? Not really if you watch horror films...

The game is about as long as the first one, as far as I can tell. There seems to be about 15 missions, including strongholds for each of the 3 gangs -- there may be a few more missions, here and there, depending on intro and epilogue. Length is probably a solid 20 hours or so... much longer if you replay the game or complete all the activities for the bonuses, etc.

Online does have some sort of deathmatch like the first one, I think. I haven't tried SR2 online yet and never played the original online. SR, I believe, had some coop missions you could do, but you couldn't just run around and do everything together. SR2 has coop much like mercenaries 2 where you can do the whole game together online. Not sure about drop in drop out.
dead space really dosn't grab me.

I bet it's great but I don't think people will really remember it in a few months till the sequel comes out.
Very brave.

I like the idea of the co-op. I wasn't sure what that would be like. This game just keeps pleasing me more and more.

I don't have any time today to play video games though :whistle2:( between school and traveling back home for a doctors apt... ugh.

Also, I think the R1 button on one of my sixaxis is broken. Is there anyway to really test it? Or maybe fix it?

I might rent dead space later this week.

I am buying a Game Boy Micro today though to play the mother 3 translation patch on though. Cannot wait for that GBA flash cart to get here.

yay i beat mm9. then i beat it again.

time attack is ridiculous though
one of my friends is top 10 on all time attacks.

I couldn't get past the green orb guys that come out of the pits in Concrete Man's stage in the demo. I played it for like 8 minutes but couldn't do it.

So you can't even talk about the translation patch being released this week? There's a thread about it in the DS/GBA forum too that you might want to point your missiles towards, in that case. Although there is some ROM discussion going on there too, so I'm not criticizing, just helping keep it off CAG if that's what Cheapy wants.

Well, looks like I'm passing on Far Cry 2. It's got the same goddamn draconian DRM that Crysis Warhead and Spore have. Once again, the person that purchases the retail disc is treated like the criminal. fuck you SecuROM.

Just play it on 360.

And isn't the Far Cry 2 DRM like 5 installations per computer? And if you install, it gives you one back?

erm.. Seems like you'd never go over those limits. People whining about DRM seem like such big babies. PC gamers are nuts.

You have 5 installs through 3 computers. When you properly uninstall and let the game phone home, you get 1 install back. It's not as peachy as it sounds.

For example, I have microsoft office 2003. I am allotted 5 installs in its lifetime. I installed it after I bought it on my desktop pc last year. Over the summer, my harddrive crashed, so I had to reformat the entire thing, and I have since installed it once again on my desktop. I recently bought a laptop to use with school, and it didn't come with microsoft office unless I paid the ridiculous amount to rebuy a product I have already bought once. So I installed my copy of office 2003 on my laptop, that's 3 uses within a year.

I'm buying a new pc harddrive to replace my old one this christmas, which will result in me having to install office once more. That's 4 installs within a year and a half of purchasing that software. I have 1 install left, so if any of my two pc's have any problems regarding reformatting or haddrive (which most of the time, you have no physical control over) I'm fucked, and out the money I spent on that software, forcing me to rebuy it.

It's just simply retarded to put this kind of stupid DRM bullshit on PC games. It's obviously not working if over 500,000 people can still pirate a game a week before the damn thing even comes to market. All it's doing is screwing over the consumer that pays for the retail disc. It's such a damn shame when the pirated versions of games work better than the damn retail versions.

Edit: All this hate goes the same for that waste of life Cliffy B running his mouth off last week too. According to him, because I'm smart enough to keep my PC up to date to play newer PC games, apparently, I'm smart enough to just pirate games. Stupid fuck. People like Chac, Apossum, me, Inufaye and all my friends that still buy PC games are the ones supporting his goddamn ass and then he pulls bullshit comments like that. CliffyB = fail, Gears = fail.

Well, if people didn't pirate, it wouldn't be a problem. PC users (as a generalized term) do it to themselves.

Between the pinch of people not buying because of DRM and people not buying because of piracy, we won't have any PC games in 3-4 years, I'm thinking. Congrats, pirates.

The usefulness of Far Cry 2 and Office can't really be compared.

Is it illegal to buy a game, then use a method to remove the DRM from it afterwards?

Edit: NERD RAGE!!

From Kotaku, Re: Far Cry 2:
You have 5 activations on 3 separate PCs.

- Uninstalling the game “refunds” an activation. This process is called “revoke”, so as long as you complete proper uninstall you will be able to install the game an unlimited number of times on 3 systems.

- You can upgrade your computer as many time as you want (using our revoke system)

- Ubisoft is committed to the support of our games, and additional activations can be provided.

- Ubisoft is committed to the long term support of our games: you’ll always be able to play Far Cry 2.

I don't understand what more PC gamers want from developers. Piracy is rampant, it's a real problem, and they're NOT going to release games without protection against it. It seems like this is the best you could hope for in terms of DRM..

Not having done that myself, I wouldn't know.

Is it illegal to download ROMs of games you own?
