More Fable II last night for me. I only
finished the Crucible
, but I'm just enjoying buying things, exploring, and general messing around. I think I bought every purchasable building and business in Bowerstone.

I wish BB carried PC games so I could use my credit there to pick up WoW: WoLK. :p

Do you like the screen shake though? It's like getting it with a stun grenade.

And I liked the dogs in theory but they need to show up on the radar. You could always tell where the chopper was in COD4 and know whether or not you could make it across the street without getting shot up.

And you're right about the watered down guns. I just realized that I didn't notice it because almost all of my custom classes have Stopping Power. And I never felt like that perk was a requirement for COD4.

Also, is there co-op in the PC version? I guess it doesn't matter because I'll be playing so much Left for Dead but me and my friend are always looking for online co-op games for our PCs.
 
I just woke up and I feel like ass. I'm going to just sit around and play games all day, after I take care of some business.

I think I'll start some more Mirror's Edge demo. . .
 
The Mirrors Edge demo is badass. Once you have the controls down they were extemely well, and everything you do looks awesome.

So that makes games I will be getting for sure this month Valkyria, Mirrors Edge, Resistance 2, and....whatever else impresses me.
 
360 and PS3 Mirror's Edge look nearly identical. But that doesn't matter to me, because I'm getting the PC version. "terrorist elitist fist bump" :)

Also, run and jump, then turn in imid air and she'll go splat on her back. It's amusing. Do it off of a rooftop for more fun. :)

Can someone tell me how I can pre-order COD5 & Left 4 Dead for 360 WITH same day shipping.
I did this with Gears Of War 2 no problem about a week ago or so.

CoD:WaW = CoD4 with WWII skin. I like it enough.

ME: Awesome. Need to try the demo on 360 later to see if slightly less jaggies is worth playing with the bumpers.

Slightly less jaggies is all I really saw. And I mean SLIGHT. Achievements are probably the driving factor for that version, for some people. I don't care about them.

Bumpers worked OK, but I don't mind them anymore.

I'm also going to look at the color saturation.

Dang, I should just get a PC that can play newish games.
Games are cheaper, and look way better.
 
PS3 ME looked a little sharper, but that might be HDMI vs. Component.

ME has pretty low PC requirements. Well, pretty low compared to some games now. ;)

Pentium 4 @ 2.4 GHz/Athlon 64 2800+
1 GB RAM
256 MB (GeForce 6 Series/ATI Radeon X1350 or HD2400)

10 bucks cheaper too is nice.

I think I'll preorder from GS and get that bag. . .
 
So how does the 9600mGT 512 mb handle games? I dunno if I want to buy new shit for this computer or go the laptop route. Only thing that interests me about the laptop is that it would be built by a company and have a warranty and shit, so I would have to spend days trying to fix it if it fucks up.
 
My friend has a 9600GT and it's pretty decent. He just plays WoW though, and it's more than enough for that game. Benchmarks put it slightly behind an 8800GT, 15% or so at most, around 8% or so for everything else.

Avoid AA and super high resolutions and it should be decent.

That makes this HP laptop seem pretty awesome then, considering my 7900GS is light years behind the 8800.

Is the 1680 resolution necessary on those? I need a good coupon to come around.

Comes out to like 1050. I didn't think the infinity glass thing was worth 50 bucks, and I'll put my own 500 gb hard drive in for much cheaper than theres.
 
i got mine for around that price but got free upgrades to my hd ram(3gb) and wireless(n card)

i got the infinity cuz it looks cool and i guess so i dont have to clean my screen much
 
mirror's edge was okay. I can't see enjoying 10 hours of it's trial and error gameplay though. And it's going to be the biggest flop of the season, financially. Quick price drop guaranteed.
 
I've been using my DV5 for a couple days and love it. The keyboard feels so much better than the Dells, Toshibas, and older HPs I've used. The infinity display is very very glossy and its pretty much exactly like the new Macbook screens. Stick with 1gb of RAM and upgrade to 4 on your own. Just get a copy of 64 bit Vista somehow. It runs like butter on 4gig.

Yeah, companies like to rape you on things like RAM upgrades for sure.

For gaming, it's hard to top a desktop. I like being able to upgrade, plus your money goes further with a desktop.

I plan on keeping desktop. I'm getting the laptop so I'll always have something that works. After I get it I'll start doing some fun shit with my desktop.


That is a fantastic deal on newegg. Much better than the one I had built. I've only got like 500 bucks right now, so I have to wait till after my birthday and a paycheck or two....when I get a job.

Is the 1440x900 a problem? That's what my 19 inch dell monitor is and it looks great.

I can't view that staples one, I need a postal code.
 
I used to have a 1440x900 monitor, and games looked great at that resolution. 1680x1050 is really nice, but on a monitor that small, it's not that noticeable. Blurays, if you play them, will be downconverted, though they'll still look fine.

With my 21.6" monitor @ 1680x1050, Fonts are easily readable, but are a little small. On a 15.4" screen at that resolution, I'd need glasses for sure. Or bigger fonts.
 
I heard some talk in the reviews that the processor was slow.

How does it compare to my desktop? I'm rocking and AMD Athalon X2 3800+, 7900 GS and 2 gigs of ram.
 
Processor is faster, more RAM obviously, and the GPU is better too. So it's definitely better. The processor is close, same GHz, but the superior Core 2 architecture wins, and the GPU will smoke that 7900GS.

Shit, that's tempting, because this stuff fits my needs pretty well. The only thing I don't like is the 17" screen, because of battery life. But I guess I do like it because it's big, lol.

How much more would I have to pay for a better processor? Those are upgradeable anyways, no?

Huh, for some reason I thought you could pop the cpu out.

If it's still on sale when I come up with another 1/2k, I'm getting it. Looks like it'll be enough to run starcraft/diablo.
 
Yeah, upgradeable for sure. Mobile processors are more expensive though. From looking at HP's site and service manual, it should be able to take any Socket P Core 2 Duo processor just fine.

The ones listed on their site are the T5800, T5900, P7350, P8400, P8600, T9400, and T9600 for the custom builder.

Also, look at the service manual before you even think about trying it.
 
Okay, I thought it worked like that.

Fallout 3 is installing. God I hope it runs well. If it does, I'm buying it and gears with my amazon credit.

What's the best way to spend your points at the start of the game? Is there anyway to change the resolution? I don't see it in options.
 
The question is do you want to risk screwing up installing a processor into a laptop, also voding any warranty, vs paying for a better processor now? I wouldn't get too set on this one just yet, see as how by the time you get the cash there will be something better in your price range.

- Played some LBP today. ReRo's Ice Cream level haunts me. GOTY candidate.
- Coded a lot of COBOL.

I agree with this. It's hard to really screw it up, but I'm experienced. I can see somebody just fucking it up completely. And a warranty is a good thing not to void.

You can change Fallout 3's resolution when you start it.

DDR and hopefully starting Okami this weekend. Also, I saw a StarCraft Terran Marine at the Halloween parade tonight (at least, that's what it looked like from where I was standing). Going to sleep now!
