Other than that, how well do you like it? How's battery life? Is the screen nice? etc.
 
I think I'm going to a midnight Launch of Gears Of War 2. Then I get to go to school, then go to work till 10:30, then play till really late, then go to work at 2 o'clock the next day.
AWESOME.

Battery life is about 2 and a half to 3 hours, and the screen is really nice. I like it quite a bit, especially since it wasn't ridiculously expensive.

Thanks. I'm still leaning towards the N50vn because of the GPU, and it has a free year of accidental damage. Wish the screen was a higher res, but what ever, shouldn't matter at 15 inches.

I thought the 1st half of SEED was decent(But the Astray manga is just awsome)... and I like to pretend Destiny doesn't exist. But I will say The Astrays and Strike are some of my favorite Mobile Suits in the Gundam universe.

Hoping to have Gears 2 early on Friday since I preordered off of amazon (gc was to good to pass with chrono trigger hitting ds and getting 10 off of that would be better than getting gears 2 early).
 
Why do you want to get a laptop instead of a desktop? Everyone always says that want a laptop to do this and do that, but they hardly ever do. Why dont you buy a cheapo $300 dollar laptop or a better, used one for around that price and spend the rest on a nice gaming desktop? Makes no sense to spend money on overpriced gaming laptops when you can get 2x the power for 1/2 the cost. And this way, you can still browse the internet/chat/etc on the go. Because seriously, when are you going to be gaming on your couch watching tv?

That's where I do the majority of my pc gaming.

And I don't get Fallout. I'm like... drop kicking rats. Then getting owned by bugs. I think I need to find a FAQ or something.
 
I was thinking about renting Fable II but I am hearing that you have to go collect or kill a fuckLOAD of creatures/things. Is this true? How long does it take? If I have to spend hours on doing stupid little shit its a pass and Ill rent FO3 instead.

Especially from users like donkeyshow, and geosautus.
 
I liked that Radiohead level, but really 99% of the videos I've been shown are like "Hey! I made a really crappy version of _______ (insert Tetris, Pac-Man, Street Fighter II, etc.).

I still plan on getting the game once I've found a good deal on a PS3.
 
swinging the sword was a nice touch. Jetpack levels are a good idea, as it gets around the broken jumping and platforming in that game.

Still not sold on user generated content. I'd rather play a professionally designed game.

Outrun 2006 on ps2 let's you transfer the save back and forth between your pap and ps2, how cool is that!
 
valkyria chronicles has a stupid name. People are going to play it for an hour and lose interest, just like every other Japanese artsy game that gets by on visuals/ being Japanese/being on ps3.

That LBP level that Dallow posted looked pretty good, the longer LBP is out the more gems like that will appear.

Tried the Mirrors Edge demo this weekend, wasn't sure about it. Not sure it's really my kind of thing, might pick it up in the future when it's cheap.

Looks like I will be getting Gears 2 after all, I'm gonna get it using that GS deal, seeing as there is a couple of the Target clearance games that are eligible. I'll also trade in R6V:2 as I'm about done with it.
 
I want RA3 for some reason. I think I'll buy that to christen the new laptop.

Gears on friday=I'm pumped. We get veteran's day off, so I'm using that day to run through the story.

Fable II can be beaten in 20 hours or less if you are speeding through it. I don't know who told you that you have to collect a bunch of things and kill a bunch a creatures. I mean yeah, you run into a bunch of baddies, but what action RPG doesn't? Also, Fallout 3 has some fetch questing in it. But it isn't bad. Both should not be missed.
 
MGS4 was a huge disappointment for me. Especially after I had such a great time with MGS3s.

I bought a system for both, and both are pretty symbolic for their respective systems. PS3= dissapointment
PS2= exceeded expectations

That last MGS4 cutscene was such a cop out and such a clear example of kojima's biggest flaw, his inability to leave the audience with any sense of mystery. When every stone is overturned and every last thing given some hokey, contrived explanation, you lose interest quickly.

He was so close to getting it right, the game should have just ended with a gunshot and a dark screen.

Been real busy lately. Not much gaming going on. Assassin's Creed is still fun, but the repitition is starting to set it. I'm about halfway thru P3 FES: Answer, and about a third thru Castlevania OoE.

I'm really looking forward to Valkyria Chronicles.
 
For some reason, I can play LBP with everyone, except for two very specific people with whom I get a strange error anytime I try to join, or invite.
With that same person, I couldn't play the CoD beta with either, unless I joined him when he was already playing, but we couldn't party up.
Then we couldn't chat either, so we thought it had to be an ISP thing.

But we tried two other games and they worked fine.

Other, than Gears, and LBP, all I've been playing is both Taiko PSP games trying to beat my girl's high scores. She managed to take some from me......

I loved MGS3, especially the ending. I loved MGS4 as well, and I'd like to go back and play it, but I don't want to sit through the installs again just to get to another chapter. The ending of MGS4 was done very well in my opinion. But even witht he installation flaw, the gameplay was superb, I wasn't disappointed with the story, and gameplay at all.
 
if you enjoyed dragging the series' best character out from the dead to go through a half hour of 'splainin to the kiddies why honestly, there's a logical way that was clearly planned from the beginning to wrap this whole mess of a story up, I don't know what's wrong with you.

This goes for anyone who defends mgs's story anytime. You're probably either 15 years old or a Kojima fanboy.
 
The problem with MGS4 is that only about 25% of it actual metal gear stealth gameplay. There are like 5 actual sneaking maps...then the rest is run n' gun + mech action + shitty cut scene. Adding more to the ending would be a serious slap in the face--it was already an hour long and fairly bitter affair after getting cheated in Chapters 3,4, and 5.

They need to get back to the basics. MGS3 is the highpoint of stealth games, but the few sneaking maps in MGS4 are fucking amazing.

I thought it was supposed to be free.

Good comments that make me feel better about my purchase from someone who 1100/1100 the 360 version and "platinum-ed" the PS3 version.

Probably the most major differences that I saw are
-Survivor Mode: best mode ever. All Bioshock fans need to experience this. Way better AI, much more interesting and strategic resource management and gameplay.
-Improved audio quality
-New, sexy interactive loading screen
-Slightly better lighting effects, and overall the game looks a little better. Neptune's Bounty and Point Prometheus in particular looked a lot better. Hepheaestus and Arcadia looked a little bit worse. All other levels looked about the same or slightly better on PS3.
-The DLC tonics and plasmids are more smoothly integrated into this version of the game.
-The intro and ending movies have been up-rezzed and look better.

I haven't noticed any frame rate issues but the texture pop-in does seem to be slightly worse than the 360 version. Overall, I would say it will be the definitive version of Bioshock, especially once the DLC comes out. I think it is an awesome purchase for people who haven't played the 360 version and is still a great purchase even for those who have.

It is most likely a NAT issue caused by these friends routers. I know that I have a router that has this same problem. I can't play games at all with Maklershed and a few other people. I also have an extremely hard time finding games if I am the party leader, but if someone else is, then games are found with no problem.

They could possibly fix this by giving their PS3 a static IP address and forwarding some ports.

Also, why did you leave the OTT dallow? :cry:

I think every MGS was an improvement in the series. MGS3 and MGS4 were very close, however MGS4 vastly superior controls really locked it in as my favorite game in the series. MGS3 was cool, but the awkward controls made it feel clumsy at some points.
 
I drop in, every now and then budge, but I don't have the time to stay in them continuously like before.

Maybe if it was an infinity thread like this one though....

It's strange that we could play other games just fine though, but not some specific ones.

This has nothing to do with platforms and everything to do with how much that series has fallen and how self-indulgent kojima has become. I can't believe how deluded people are to that game's flaws, just because it's Metal Gear, just because it's a PS3 cornerstone title.

People can convince themselves of some crazy things.

MGS3s is still one of my favorite games ever, so I don't understand how I get painted as my opinion being unreasonable. Just because you dont' like it, doesn't mean it isn't valid.

I am getting hyped like crazy for Gears 2! that GameTrailers video review showed some really, really awesome stuff. I might actually like the multiplayer this time around too, with decreased focus on the fucking shotgun kills. I hated Gears 1 multiplayer for that..
