The games prolly wouldn't sell because they're real games (aside from being shit), but they also wouldn't have cost a boatload of $$ to make. So unfortunately, Free Radical would live to see another game with monkeys toting guns.

That's the last thing anyone needs.
I like Free Radical, the Timesplitters series got better with each iteration, and Second Sight was a neat game with some promise. Haze & Lair just seemed to suffer from a small team trying to tackle the HD market. Not only would they have cost less as Wii games, but they would have had more time & man power to devote to gameplay. Not to mention smaller Dev cost & larger install base would mean they'd have to sell less copies at a cheaper price to make a gain.
So my mom wants to know what game(s) to get me for Christmas. Assuming she can only buy one of these two, should I get Persona 4 or Call of Duty 5? I want both pretty bad, but I'm dying to play P4.

I watched a few episodes of the 1up show today on the road. My SF4 hype got even higher with the little segment they did on it. I'm surprised at how much I like a show that is just about videogames.

I'll think I'll play a little more PoP (with a keyboard, stupid M$ and their shitty adapters) and then go start Persona 3 over. I'm only like 12 hours in, I haven't played it in forever so I'll be all lost, and I want to just put it on easy so I can play through the game and enjoy it and not have to do a bunch of grinding.
CoD5 is going to drop HUGE after the new year, so go with P4. By the time you're done with it you'll be able to pick up CoD5 on the cheap.

Free Radical made Second Sight? Didn't know that.:whistle2:k
COD5 is going to be $39 after Christmas at some store.
Both Valid Points as well.

I think that what DMK about the closings of the companies being HD-related does hold some merit, because it costs more to develop in HD. When you're smaller companies like these guys, once you've been developing an HD game for awhile, you eventually start running out of money and credit dries up, so at some point you must release the game whether its 100% ready or not, just so you can continue to pay your employees. So when the game is released and its crap because it was rushed, and it doesn't sell, that means there's less money for the next project.

Anyway, I'm sure Atlus ain't going out of business anytime soon. I'd be very interested in seeing the sales of Persona 4 for this month.

There's some good stuff for iPhone. I asked for a iTunes card for christmas so I could get Rolando and maybe Katamari or Brothers in Arms. They just look so slick.
I'd go ahead and say any 3rd party doing exclusive PS3 games is doing it wrong.
Naughty Dog and Insomniac aren't doing it wrong. :nottalking:

Doing some cleaning today and getting things packed up. I'm leaving for out of town tomorrow to spend X-mas with the folks. Gonna pack my DS and a handful of games, but mostly I'm gonna try and finally beat DQ IV. Also, my brother has already told me he got me Chrono Trigger DS, so I'm gonna try to con the girlfriend into driving back so I can play that on the 5-hour car ride back.:)

Insomniac might be.

Naughty Dog and Insomniac both are probably losing half or more of their potential sales by not being multiplatform. Is Sony really able to moneyhat them that amount for much longer?

I'm pretty sure by the way Insomniac has been expanding, and how R2 and Ratchet and Clank did, it won't be much longer..

Played more RB2 this weekend and I can't figure out the calibration settings.

I mean, it's perfect in RB1, but in RB2, I kept missing notes on songs I know I'm really good on.
I did the auto calibration, manual, tried tweaking.

Then I set lag for sound and video to just 0ms on both and boom, I full combo a song on expert.
I don't understand how setting it to no lag makes it work perfectly. I know I should have some lag, but it just doesn't seem present.
Yeah, I had the same problem where RB1 was perfect but RB2 required some lag calibration on my HDTV.
Yeah, except it really needed no lag calibration since I just set both to 0ms delay.

Same settings you would use for a CRT.
COD5 is going to be $39 after Christmas at some store.
It's $35 @ BB now. Well, the 360 version is anyways.

Last night, watched a BR movie w/the wife, then played some NBA 2K9 (the only place the Clippers can go 10-0 to start the season), followed by a bit more raider hunting in Fallout 3.

MGS4 is done, Fallout 3 main story is done. What do I do now? Don't want to tackle any big games because Christmas is in like two days and I want a clean slate to start my new games.
Question - Is Burnout Paradise (PS3) worth $28.99?
Yeah, but I think it fits better as a $30 downloadable game. If you find someone to gameshare you cut it down to $15 or lower. I'd still pay $30 for a download over a disc though. Its so convenient having it in my PS3 at all times.

Decided to stop and Blockbuster while doing some Xmas shopping--

--GTAIV 360 x2
--Mario Party 5 (case + game)
--Yakuza

Traded in one GTAIV for $11 at GS and got Yoshi's Island GBA with the credit + $2 left over. Put Mario Party on Amazon, so I'll end up with GTAIV, Yoshi's Island, and Yakuza for about $15. Not too shabby. I'm stocking up for the next year (in which I can't spend much money at all.)

Had a 40% off coupon for Borders, but they didn't have what I wanted! I was going for Queen and Country Definitive Edition vol.2 or that Nausicaa coffee table art book. They had a book of Yoshitaka Amano's work for $40, but half the book was pages of his "complete work," i.e. about 16 thumbnails per page for 50 pages.

I was thinking of picking this up soon too. I didn't care for the demo, but my friends have it and kind of want to play with them. (also, trophies are easy)

Should have got it when it was $20 on black friday.

Either play some pick up and play games (Guitar Hero, sports games, a fighting game etc.) or just take a few days off from gaming and watch some movies etc.
This is true. Also, DMK has a valid point; maybe going HD and focusing on Graphics might just kill the Gaming industry.

Lets say Nintendo failed super hard with the Gamecube and GBA, lets say the DS & Wii never arrived. Nintendo upped and disappeared. Now look at the VG industry Minus everything Nintendo and it's all starting to look extremely bleak.

I think you guys are getting all uppity because you don't like thinking that maybe, just maybe we're all part of the problem. That all the focus on Graphics, HD and the whole technological arms race is what's killing Gaming.

I do agree though, 3rd party exclusives on EITHER of the 2nd tier systems is a terrible idea, but especially the PS3.

 As a joke. besides in the context of the con-vo between him and Chacarana, it seems like they're both predicting the coming end of Gaming, not that it already occurred.
The game industry is dying?

Diablo is lame though with no real life friends to play with.
Also lame each time it's hacked.
I started my first time with Diablo II with friends from school after Blizzard refreshed the game. It was cool to see everyone starting from scratch.

That soon went to hell though as new methods of duping items came about.

I never found a Blizzard game I really enjoyed at all. I do see the hook though, but not something for me.

Seems my plans for the day have gone backwards so I don't know what to do... I guess I'll clean my room and start packing to head to Puerto Rico. I leave the day after christmas and I'll be gone for 10 days.

ive loved all the blizzard games ive played which would be sc and w3

and now that ive got diablo i wish i brought my sc and wc3 battle chests...of course i think i need to find them...

also i successfuly registered d2 and the expansion but it keeps saying it cant authenticate my dl so now im installing by disc

also anyone else still play diablo?

i wanna try it out the online though if its like everyone says then i might have an addiction problem..*stares at past WoW addiction* :cold:

I think I want to start playing some Gears online.
Should I start with 1 or 2?
People seem to be hating on Gears 2 online pretty hard (i notice it keeps dropping down the Live activity top tens), save for the Horde mode.

anyone try carneyvale yet on community games?

Beat Haze last night. Friend and I bought it when it was $10 at BB so we could just co-op online through it.

This is how it went:

Sucked - sucked - hmm, ok - kinda cool twist - oh crap sucks again - sucked - sucked - hahaha that was the end? finally

Sometimes games get dumped on and no one plays it ever, but there's something good in there.
Not with this game. Almost a cool script twist but then it went sour quickly with more lame gunplay and buggy as hell graphics.

It was truly a bad game and it's a good thing the 360 version was scrapped. There's no need to play it.
Also, corniest death scene at the end of any "boss".

You're better off with 2. You'll have less trouble finding a game. And it's more likely to be patched soon to fix some of the issues. SeanR and I played a bunch of wingmang last night and this morning and had some BS moments, but overall, we still had fun. Plus, this way, you'll be familiar with the maps and weapons and such of Gears 2, as it's likely to be in the Top 10 of Live! games for awhile.
WTF community games can has achievements?!?!
its not official achievements just built in by the dev and apparently theres a tracker like the gears 2 one

Thanks mang.

I just need to get the last of the tags, and beat G1 on insane (with ackbar hopefully) and I'll be done with it then.

If I ever get the urge, I need to *re-finish* the game on hardcore or casual to unlock insane and then play insane, as playing hardcore coop with TFN screwed my save over and somehow removed my option to start a game on insane. :\

I was able to pick up Uncharted and Army of Two today at Target. I think I might go for a platinum run on Uncharted and AoT should be a good co-op game for me and my wife to play.
