I've had several nights (and long days at work the next day) for the same reason with Oblivion. Fire it up with intentions of doing a quest or two and end up playing until 2, 3 or 4 am.

These games are like crack.
I had zero interest in Oblivion before but that's changed now.
I'll grab that GOTY edition when I'm done with this game.

I'm sitting at 54 hours or so, still have the Mage's guild quests and all the expansions to deal with for sure. Plus any side quests, shrine quests etc. I want to bother with.

Oblivion never stuck with me the way Fallout did. I think it's the medieval setting and that the quests aren't nearly as interesting.

Shivering Isles was good though. More unique.

Happy birthday, Azu! Did you ever friend request Josh on Facebook? ;)

Today, I don't have shit to do. Woke up at 2:30. I'll probably just mope around, and go with a friend to his bro's for a party. I don't drink and I'm single on New Year's Eve. Yet I'm not interested in just picking up random hos for some fun. I've never been interested in that, actually. I'd rather have a loving relationship than some one night stand. [/personal info]

Back on topic, Fallout 3 is great. Regulators and super mutants need to fucking run for their lives when they see me coming.

prepare for a let down.

I got the Dreamcrusher perk in FO3 before I reloaded my save because I didn't want to do that. :) It's funny though.
prepare for a let down.
hehe, yeah maybe.

I'd disagree. I liked Oblivion more than Fallout 3. I actually found the quests more interesting, I liked how your stats changed depending on how you played, and I prefer a fantasy setting.
lol u r ghey. i bet u donit eat meat.

This stupid holiday is preventing me from playing NMH all day! :bomb:
I eat meat and cry at the same time.

You're an ass for shitting on it at launch. :bomb:

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Fallout 3, but I kind of doubt I'll like it as much as Oblivion as I too really like the fantasy setting more than a post-apocalyptic sci fi type of setting. Though I dig that stuff too. Loved the shit out of Mass Effect (sci-fi, but not post apocalyptic).

Oblivion definitely has a lot of flaws--as I said before probably the most flawed game that I've enjoyed anywhere near this much. But it just sucks me in and keeps me playing like few other games. I think it's the quest system--I like having linear goals to work toward. Quick travel is a life saver as well. I'd quit long ago if you had to walk everywhere as it takes so long to get across the world.

I bought a new copy, contributing to the npd :bomb:

but the GGT is all about forgiveness and love, right? :grouphug:

Morning GGT? I just slept from 7AM to 4PM. Working the overnights is crazy.

And it seems the Zune may be getting it's own RoDD. Apparently after about 12 PM this morning a number of the 30 gigs Zune completely froze... mine inculded.

Yeah a lot of it is personal preference.

I get a little bit angry whenever I think about that damn conversation wheel, though. That was the worst thing ever.

Conversation wheel is pretty stupid.

I'd really love it if Bethesda could make a game that played more or less like this but had the dialog trees like Bioware's games. It makes conversations much more interesting when you have choice over what to say and what you say has an impact on the gameplay.

Fallout 3 is almost exactly that.

The conversations are tree based, but more direct than Mass Effect's general options.s

Good to know. Definitely looking forward to playing that down the road. Will be after finishing Oblivion and taking a break from RPGs for a bit....probably work out well since it will be a while yet to get it off of Goozex.
Hmm, sounds like I won't like conversations in Oblivion.
They're mostly just regular RPG conversations with really no options (other than agreeing to do quest or not etc.).

The dialogue wheel is a mostly optional thing you can do to raise the person's disposition toward you. Sometimes you have to do it to get them to tell you something you need to know to move a quest forward. But usually it's just there if you want to raise the disposition of shop owners to get better prices etc.

I heard the 360 wireless headsets were clearanced out at Radioshack so I dropped by to see how much they were. I passed on them at 35 bucks, but I found a copy of GT5 Prolouge for 10! Not a huge fan of the series, but ten bucks for a brand new PS3 game is hard to pass up.

Ah ok, we'll see how it goes.

The sound quality is so crap. I couldn't even recognize my friend at first and thought someone else had joined my game.
I can't even imagine what I sound like.

Maybe it's just the speaker and not the mic.
Yes, the wireless sounds better and is louder.
I'm gonna have to look into that one then.
I thought I remember you hating on them at one point? I think because they break?

I think the biggest gripe is the battery life sucks.

I've never had any issues with my wired headset, and I don't really play online enough to pay for a wireless one anyway.

I heard the normal wireless ones have some problems and the Halo ones are better. I'm sure you can find a link or something about that if you look around. One example is better battery life and connection, but not 100% sure.
Sorry, typo. I meant I've never had any problems with my wired one, and don't use it enough to buy a wireless one.
Ah ok. No problem.

Hmm, yeah, I'll read up on it then.

The first edition sucked. They have since been revised and the USB charging ones are much better.

As far as the battery life sucking, I would have to disagree.

A full charge should last you 10 hours (who games that much in one sitting?). It also holds a charge very well and turns itself off when not in use. I haven't played the 360 in a while, it's been about 10 days since I played online. Went on last night, and the headset was still sitting pretty at a 80% charge.

The white ones use the same tech as the Halo ones now, suko.

Well that's good to hear then.
I think I will spring for a USB charging headset sometime. Little wire started to become annoying in addition to the sound problem.

Oh didn't know that. Good to hear so Dallow, don't worry about the differences unless you like the cosmetic difference :p

...and I need to play more Persona 4 when I get back to my apt.

Just got back from seeing that Adam Sandler Disney flick. Ugh. I gotta remember to quit letting the woman pick the movie.

I still haven't beaten Persona 4 (it was my goal to have it beat by the end of the year ). I now realize I have failed for 2008. Only thing left to do now is get drunk.

I'm really tempted to crack open Fallout 3 tho. :bomb:

Oh, and happy B-day Az!!

I was going to play some more P4 today... but with no way to listen to something while I grind I really don't feel like it.
Suda's games are good because he's a Morrissey/Smiths fan.
I marked out like a little girl when I first noticed this in K7. I'm not entirely convinced I would've enjoyed the game without them.

Whoa, I think you've just blown my mind.
I tried to imagine the game with no Smiths cues and I can't say I would have kept playing if that were so......

Hehe, wow.

Any general tips on party building in Disgaea? Seems like unless you use a very small subset of people, there's not enough exp to go around to keep everyone relevant. Half way through Vyer's Castle (first dimension after the tutorial) everyone besides Laharl and Etna were underleveled and I have to pretty much run through one of the previous maps with one character exclusively to even gain a single level.

I beat the Mid-Boss map with Laharl alone after the other 7 people were wiped out in one hit.

Gears of War 2... The first few hours didn't really grab me. I thought the game was pretty meh. But I sat down today and played. I couldn't stop it got so good. It might be my GotY now. MGS4 was previously, and ill probably never play that again. Gears I definitely had more fun with. Riding the Brumak and the tank segments were awesome. The weapon that calls down the satelite strike is a blast too. I guess I am a month or so late but whatever :p

Are Disgaea games really hardcore? Rondo of Swords I didn't like cause it was too hard. FFTA/2 I had a blast with cause they weren't too hard. I could beat most levels on the first try and never took more than 3. Front Mission 3 is one of my favourite games of all time too but I haven't played another FM since. So is Disgaea good for me you think?
I played Gears 2 at a friends house.

It bored me. A lot. We ended up playing some Naruto game instead which was slightly less boring.
Rolento? Is that you? Cause those are some bold opinions...

Well I had more fun playing it than any other game this year... besides NHL 09 that is. So if I went by fun factor NHL 09 = GOTY!
