I agree. VF, you mash, you usually die. Tekken is like that though, against anyone that's decent, but you can get away with it a little more.
Agreed. You have to play VF like you're actually a martial artist. There is little luck when it comes to winning and losing. It's all knowing how to use your fighter's moves effectively to get out of a pinch.
I love Fire Pro BTW.
Winner!!! The best $5 I spent on any game in....2007?! WTF?! Where does time go?
i guess thats why i don't like those games. smashing buttons really sucks, but if I have a friend playing with me thats usually all that goes on. my girlfriend hates those fighting games (loves cvs2/mvc2, though) and the few friends i have that still live in the valley think gaming is for people with pocket protectors and boogers on their shirt collar.
Maybe you should get a pocket protector and put some boogers on your collar to attract some other gamers.

I have a strange urge to buy a Nintendo 64, Blast Corps, and play the shit out of it. I heart that game when I was younger. I wonder if it holds up well. :whistle2:k
If I ever need a roomate Hank, I'll give you a call ;)

constant competition.
Lagless T5DR would be sweet. :) I'd play you in anything, all the time.

Plus then I'd get to check out the Miami chicas.
do you have a picture up in the photo album, hankmewankmecrankmejackmefuckme?

for some reason, I picture you looking like bobby hill with long hair. :whistle2:|

one of my good friends had these really ghetto, grill wearing, xxxxxl white shirt wearing thugs as neighbors that were pretty funny to play games with, and man, those were the days. almost got shot a couple of times, or strangled with the controller, but nobody there could touch my maxi.
lol, No I don't have a pic up. Maybe I will later, for shits and giggles.

At least the controllers are wireless now. No strangling. ;)

Definitely on VF5. And I paid $10 for my FPR. So good.

It's not on Wii's VC?

I doubt any of the Rare games will end up on the Wii VC since MS bought them. Would be more likely to hit XBLA ala Banjo Kazooie I'd think.

I wonder how it would hold up today as well. I played the shit out of it back in the day, got gold medals on everything, and a few platinum. But of course I had more patience back then and there wasn't much to play on the N64 around that time and it was the only console I had at the time.

I remember only liking the levels with that one huge guy with the jetpack who would crush things by flipping onto them. I had little patience for that game.
Of course not, it's an N64 game.
There are N64 games on the VC. Just not one's from Rare since MS owns them.

Yeah, those were my favorite as well. The dump truck was a pain in the ass though, especially to get gold medals on those levels.
There are N64 games on the VC. Just not one's from Rare since MS owns them.
Sarcasm, my dear. There are...6?...N64 games on the VC.
Sarcasm, my dear. There are...6?...N64 games on the VC.
Ah, sorry I've been slaving away at tedious work all week so I'm a bit fried. :D

But those 6 pretty much cover all the good games outside of the Rare games, which will never come out on the VC. :D

Pretty sad to see how undersupported N64 is, but I imagine it's not for lack of wanting to upload stuff. They're stalling until there's a storage solution.

The mismatch between storage/content on the Wii is Nintendo's only mistake this gen.
Ahahahah, only mistake.
from a "reality/they're ridiculously rich" point of view, rather than a "lol no games" point of view. though I'm more sympathetic to the latter, of course ;)

IMO...

VF: every move seems to be fully thought out in terms of evasion and frames, and is more technical in that sense. not very flashy.

Tekken: flashy, featuring electricity and explosions when people get hit. emphasis on landing big juggle combos. movement is essential to winning.

I totally agree, I don't play VF though. It is annoying to see people who don't play Tekken ever just call it a dial-a-combo game, because there's way more than just doing combos.

Good evasion skills and blocking are absolutely key in that game, and parrying too! Its more of a defensive game until you get that oh shit! 35% combo or whatever thrown out.

It actually reminds me of marvel in that sense, since its like run run run bulldog offense cross up block block block OH SHIT....there goes magneto!

I totally agree, kainzero and Heavyd.

Hey, it's 5:30 PM, and I haven't even touched Suikoden 5 today. I got distracted by HD Remix, just like I predicted.

VF5 is so awesome. I like the more methodical pace, and that the battles are more structured and logical. I think it's why I like Super Turbo so much too.

VF is good...I just don't have the patience anymore for that kind of fighting game.

Probably why I enjoyed MK Vs DC. Button mashing goodness.

Stopped off at a pawnshop today on the way home and picked up an Xbox 360 256MB Memory Card for $10, and then when I got home, I found my long lost copy of Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast on PC! Can't wait to throw it on my PC this weekend and play through it again since it's been so long. This is the game that TFU should have been.
Listening to Echoes of War at the moment. It is fucking awesome. Right now, I'm listening to a track from Diablo; forgot how good the music was, even though the game itself didn't click with me.
U haz legendary edition?

I thought TFU was more frustrating than it needed to be. It's like the devs thought having kick ass Force powers was too unbalanced so they put in all this frustrating BS in to make more "challenging" instead of concentrating on making good boss fights. I wouldn't not have mind plowing through hordes of puny rebels or clueless Storm Troopers LucasArts--really, it would've been kick ass just exploring all the different uses of the Force to kill and maim those scrubs so I could have more tactics to use against the Jedis/Sith.

Charles Manson uppins. :)

It used to be 8 inches. Then I had to trim it for some weddings. It's coming back though, almost 6 inches.

It makes a great bib, and keeps my neck warm during the cold winter months. ;)

Street Fighter games are more like Tekken than VF, at least from my viewpoint. There aren't a lot of dragonpunches or fireballs or charge moves in VF... some of the more complex moves have similarities (the impossible to input commands), but it's not like there are an arsenal of them.

I agree with this. Dodging, countering... I never got good at the parrying, but I do tend to play defense until I see an opening then I drop the hammer on some sort of offensive barrage.

For what it's worth, I hate DoA games too. Not sure if that explains anything or not. :)

It's okay to hate DOA. Itagaki managed the best sort of marketing with the last two Ninja Gaiden games: he convinced the public that (and I expect ninja dog to verify this ;)), if you were terrible at the game, it wasn't because the game was broken. It was because you sucked at the game and weren't good enough for it. Moreso true with 1 than 2 for sure.

I don't recall the same aura surrounding any of the DOA games. They don't contribute anything to gaming IMO.

DoA contributed to gaming for sure. Not for gameplay reasons but because it added a new form of physiscs that's in almost every game now. I'm glad it existed soley for that though.

I'm guessing Deadly Moves for Genesis. I whooped that game's ass with the Ryu clone. Game sucked ass BTW.

He had a fireball and dragon punch that shut everyone down.
I wonder what the gaming world would be like if breast physics had never been thought of.....
same here. I really can't see gaming without it.

I'm so tired of hearing about that anime.

Game looks interesting though :p

I'd buy it if
The girl playing came over to play it at my house

I'm getting kinda beastly at RB. Just beat ...And Justice for All on expert drums. I was sweating like a bitch by the end thanks to my hot ass room.

I'll probably take another shot after some strategizing tomorrow, but if that ends in failure, I think Disgaea is getting shelved. Last boss is just silly.

It's true for the first Ninja Gaiden...one of the least broken games around, imo. Ninja Gaiden II is not made for high level play, however, and is almost completely broken...too easy on normal, too cheap on hard + MN. But if you're losing on normal, you're terrible--it has weaknesses not unlike this fabled shitty Genesis game (street smarts?) One move to take down almost everything.

DOA's contributions-
--Tit physics as ReRo pointed out
--An online set up in DOAUltimate that is still tops. Way better than that fucking obnoxious lobby set up they used in DOA4. While it's technically the second online 3D fighter, MKDeception's online set up was pretty basic and its leaderboards were borked within the first week thanks to droppers. But it's telling that Tekken 5, SC4, SF2:Turbo, and SF2HDR use something similar to Ultimate's set up...though those game don't have ranked lobbies, iirc.

Edit: but yes, it is okay to hate the game itself. nobody should play as much DoA as I have.
