Actually, here we go:

There might be other secret ones too I think:

Golden Axe Warrior (SEGA Master System)
Phantasy Star (SEGA Master System)
Alien Syndrome (Arcade)
Altered Beast (Arcade)
Congo Bongo (Arcade)
Fantasy Zone (Arcade)
Shinobi (Arcade)
Space Harrier (Arcade)
Zaxxon (Arcade)
Sweet. I loved Zaxxon and Alien Syndrome. Glad I didn't get any of these off of VC. >_
Well, SO4 will probably hit $40 really quickly, maybe even before it's released ala Last Remnant so it won't hurt so much.
You could always wait for the possibility of a port to PS3 with extras (definitive version).
Personally I'd like RE to go back to pre-rendered backgrounds and tank controls. I loved RE4, and I liked the RE5 demo, but I miss the old school RE games.
Yes! :applause:

You should dread fighting in survival horror and actively avoid it. You're not supposed to be bad ass. Also, more item conservation/management please.

Yeah, fuck Capcom for moving the genre forward. They should be stagnant forever.

P.S. There are plenty of survival horror games that are more traditional, so your complaining is boring.
You could always wait for the possibility of a port to PS3 with extras (definitive version).
Yes, that's what I normally do. But there's just been no info about a PS3 port. Still waiting on Last Remnant for PS3 though.

Agreed actually. Part of the reason I wasn't that enamored with RE4, or the new demo.

Zew, what are they moving foward? It's just becoming more like a regular action game.

I'm with progressives on this one. A series can't just throw out the same control system every time and expect people to keep buying it. Even Street Fighter has introduced new things since Street Fighter II.

Yeah, but that was a fighting game. And still is a fighting game.

Some people just feel RE isn't a "survival horror" game anymore. And it really isn't.

I'm all for it's not broken don't fix it. My love of Koei games should show that.

Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic 3 are 2 seperate games in that collection, but I'm assuming that Sega is going to make "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" a seperate, hidden game. It makes sense to Sega, naturally.

SFIV on the PS3 for me. I'm not sure what else in February I might want to get.

And the Resident Evil games already got pretty stale. People weren't even being fazed by the "horror" aspect of the game anymore, so that's probably why they did what they did in RE4. Personally, Veronica was the last straw for me.

By the fact that they aren't using tank controls and prerendered backgrounds.

I'm sorry that every survival horror game doesn't play exactly like RE1. Some of us want new shit.

Go play Siren or SH: Homecoming if you want boring, traditional sh.
Some people just feel RE isn't a "survival horror" game anymore. And it really isn't.
Maybe it's just me but I never thought of the RE series as "survival horror" in the first place.

Turning a survival horror game into a 3rd person Action/Shooter is advancing survival horror forward? :whistle2:?

During RE1.
"Yes! Holy crap, some ammo!!! I will live!!!"

During RE5.
"Hmm, need ammo, better bust open some more of these fruit boxes that seem to everywhere, or just take them down in groups with the shotgun since they'll drop it for me."

Capcom invented survival horror. I think they know they're doing.

Yes, it is. Look at how many GOTY awards, and how much unanimous praise RE4 gets. Another one of my favorite sh games is Dead Space, which is a pretty direct rip-off of RE4 with it's own added twists.

Don't pick up the ammo the enemies drop then. It's a demo. You probably won't have access to all those weapons at that point in the game.

Lack of ammo = survival horror

And you're right, RE4 is a great game. I just think the old REs were great games too, and would like more of them.

There's some other games I'm interested next month but won't pick up. At least not right away.

Blue Dragon Plus
Dragon Quest V
GTA: Lost and Damned DLC
Prinny Can I be the Hero?
Puzzle Quest Galactrix

Yeah, I liked them too. But I'm glad that companies are willing to take risks, especially with their big franchises like RE. Adding more action elements and co-op to a game like this is a risky maneuver because of people like dallow and DMK.

You had something here I agreed with before you edited your post.

RE5 is a risk? :)
Haha, they had to so something for part 4, and opening the game up worked.
Now they're gonna milk that for a while until it gets old like the PSX games.

Hahaha.

I sure hope Namco knows what they're doing Tekken 6. Pretty big risk that game.
And Square is bring risky as fuck with FF XIII, are they crazy?
What's next Konami? Another Metal Gear?
Or Epic and Gears of War 3?

I can't believe all the risks game companies are taking nowadays on well established game franchises.

You're right. Tekken 6 isn't a risk since it has been fundamentally the same since T1.

FFXIII the same. Still the same basic RPG.

You're the one complaining that RE5 isn't like RE1. :whistle2:?

With the RE games, it's understandable for them to be more action oriented than other survival horror games. The main characters are trained police officers that know how to use various weapons.

This is opposed to the Silent Hill or Fatal Frame main characters, where they are normal/regular people with no extensive training in weaponry. It's more understandable for RE to move into an action/shooter genre, with that said, I'd still like it if it was a little more about zombies/survival horror, rather than mysterious plague/disease taking over people and making them zombie-like.

I liked the old RE games, I really liked RE4, and I'm sure I'll really like RE5. The isometric view and pre-rendered back grounds worked, but it had to advance with the times and that's what Capcom did. I just hope it isn't milked to death and there's actual improvements with each iteration.

I'm complaining that it isn't survival horror. I won't mind playing the game as I know I'll enjoy it.

I'd just rather go back to being scared of enemies and/or dying.

I'm sorry, but if you didn't get a sense of panic when there are 20-30 enemies in your immediate area, plus a huge axe wielding executioner chasing you in a not-so-big area, I'm not sure what to tell ya.

Same goes for the chainsaw dude. I know I panicked trying to kill him without him cutting me in half.

And that was just from the demo.

Your definition of survival horror is a lack of ammo.

Whoa. Didn't see this before.

Why is the plush only for the press?!?!?! :bomb:

It's hard to be scared when you can take them down so easily and run away easily as well.
Keep saying it's ammo though.

In summary, I got a sense of dread from the older RE games and felt really satisfied/accomplished once I actually beat it and survived. And that I'm going to miss.

That's something I never got in RE4 and probably won't from RE5.
That was like beating the Gears titles. "Well, that's done."

Just because you can defend yourself doesn't mean it isn't survival horror. You don't feel any sense of dread being alone surrounded by enemies relentlessly trying to kill you? In 5, you have a partner, but the atmosphere is the same. You're a foreigner in a strange land, with a limited supply of ammo and nothing but hostile enemies with supernatural abilities. Not every horror game can be Haunting Ground.

And limited? They drop ammo.

Weird. I never got the sense that taking out enemies was "easy". And I thought you liked running away? You want to die every few seconds to feel scared? Me, I'd just get frustrated and annoyed.

The old RE games were good for their time, but that design was based on the available technology. I can't imagine you'd still be as scared having played that same routine now as you were the first time you played it.

"Oh noes, I'm going to get cut by the chainsaw!" - Zewone

That dude rarely even got near me, and when he did, I would just walk right by him.
Or do the Down+A to turn around and walk away.
Nope. You can run circles around them.

No, they don't all drop ammo--you can't blindly shoot stuff like an FPS and expect to get full up right after.

Sigh. Oh well, if that's how you feel, then why don't you play most of the game using just the knife and kicks then.
Whoa. Didn't see this before.

My understanding is that you get the plush if you preorder. It should be up on Amazon soon.

Ah, sick. Yeah, I just finished checking on Amazon for it.
Ah, sick. Yeah, I just finished checking on Amazon for it.
Apparently, they are producing the game in "limited quantities", for whatever that's worth.
Hahaha, ok dallow.

Tell us what would make RE5 a survival horror game, since you're the expert.
Hey, if RE5 scares you. That's on you. I won't judge. (anymore)
I've already said what survival horror is, it's up to Capcom to do it, but they've gone another route. Good on them, the money is better. And I'll enjoy the game regardless.
Oh well, if that's how you feel, then why don't you play most of the game using just the knife and kicks then
Hey, I did that with RE1. ;)
I remember reading about Japanese players playing through the game with only the knife and tried it.
Hahaha, ok dallow.

He just said he wanted it to go back to the older RE games with the static backgrounds.

But with no weapons. :)

I'm not afraid to admit that scary video games get to me. I wish I was brave like my boy, dallow, but I'm a wuss. I was really proud of myself that I was able to finish Dead Space.

I get scared when I highlight Siren on the XMB on accident and that spooky song is playing in the background.

I honestly cannot believe that people want the old style RE games back. I've played through all the RE games except the Gun Survivor ones (including RE: Deadly Silence, REmake etc...) and Resident Evil 4 is by far the best.

Hell, Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever made.

Honestly, it's kind of funny because some people are complaining about how your character is immobile and the controls suck, and others are complaining about how your controls are to good and don't inspire enough "dread" because they're to easy to use.

Some of you guys are trippin'

As for February....

Street Fighter 4
Fightstick T.E.

I'm not either, I LOVE scary games.
But games where I can shoot like crazy don't scare me.

Actually...... the Fear 2 demo creeped me out (just the school), and I probably wouldn't have finished it if there wasn't someone with me.
But yeah, I love games that scare me. Siren creeped me out, even the half hearted SH: Homecoming made me whimper going from room to room, and I'm really hoping Dead Space is similar though there is a lot of firepower in that one.
I have a question. What does this mean:

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73047

I'm specifically referring to the low price guarantee.
It looks like all of their online pre-orders have the low price guarantee, which means that if the price drops on the item between now and the release date, you'll get it for the lower price that the item has dropped to. I wouldn't bank on this happening, however.
