let me combine some atrocious graphics with an... uh... "homage"... to super mario bros. and some PoP SoT mechanics and use it to solve some uh... clever... puzzles and overcharge for it!
Hint: My post was a joke.

Though I agree with everything you said, minus the atrocious graphics. Is everything you mentioned really a bad thing? PoP SoT mechanics with SMB and clever puzzles all in one kicks ass ... and yes, I realize your use of clever was sarcasm but ... I don't care, you still made some good points while trying to say negative things about Braid.
let me guess, you never bought it.
Not based off the demo. Wasn't worth $15 to me. Hell, if someone *GAVE* me a code for it, I'd probably give it away. Nothing in the demo made me want to buy it; there was nothing that made me wonder "oh, what else will happen, or what puzzles await?" I couldn't stand the graphics, the puzzles were, in the very least, mostly obvious to me, though sometimes the control mechanics made them frustrating/annoying, the story did nothing for me... Why would I drop $15 bucks on it again? :whistle2:s

The puzzles in the demo are nothing compared to the puzzles later on in the game. At least you gave it a try though.

i was about to say the same.

I can see how the graphics would be bad based on taste, but what was done in braid was some very hard coding and artwork. superbly impressive with only 2 guys working on it.

Well said.

Maybe if the game had been priced at $10 I'd have dropped the money even though I despised the demo, and that's a big maybe. You can forget it at $15.
Demos aren't always a good baromete of the full game.
That's true, but I'm not going to throw $15 down the drain. If they want me to buy their game they can make a demo that's good. It's not like a disc based game I can rent to try or sell if I don't like it. A downloadable game has to sell me on its demo or it's a no buy.
Demos aren't always a good baromete of the full game.
exactly. I really didn't like the demo for braid, but the full game won me over. I don't think anyone has a say over a game they only can play in non-full code.

Everything coming from people who don't like the game seem to be in the boat of only playing the demo so I feel I have full right to stand my (opinionated) ground.

... but you buy retail games based off written word???????? or paid renting... no demo... pancakes?

jk... kinda

Have a very brave cumpleaños, ReRo. :)

Well well, I didn't play Shadow of the Colossus today. Big surprise. HD Remix and hanging with friends occupied my time.

I hated the FFXII demo, really liked the real deal.

Holy crap, it really is your birthday, Happy B-Day man!

The demo for Braid sucked, big time, there's no doubting that. I only bought Braid because I had some left over MS Points I got for free. Damned good choice on my behalf.

Link to one post I've ever made where I talked about buying a game based on written word. You can't. While I can link to many where I've ranted about how I hate reviews.
Demos aren't always a good barometer of the full game.
Absolutely. For example, the Tales Of Vesperia demo was a trainwreck, yet the actual game is great!
I played some more Gun tonight(today?). I'm going to sleep now, and I'll hopefully finish Gun/star Prince Of Persia tomorrow.

I don't need proof even though the internet seems to like otherwise. Everyone's done it at some point in their gaming life. Anyone gaming for more than a few years can at least admit to that. I know I have.

thx for the b-day wishes. I have a party I'm throwing late saturday night in a back lot. kinda scared since I don't know how many people will be there or how good it will be. I will have my PS3 and sound system hooked up to a projector and sound system though for some Rock Band 2 and some fighting games.

I'm also making moves on some womenzes of mine.

I haven't. One look at the kind of games I like can easily show that. Sorry, but if you're going to make up lies about me I'm going to have to see some proof.

Happy birthday. I didn't even know it was your birthday lol.

Nazi Zombies COD WaW ps3....you know want to play with me and bmachine....

Good stuff probably one of the funnest parts of a game I've played all year.

naw, i'm not making lies, just pointing out my perspective. I don't expect yours to change so don't make me think I'm against you. I'd rather have you not agree than like everything I like >_<

thx. yeah, I forget it's my b-day since it's been such a fucking crazy week. feels like a rollercoaster.

a girl I've been hitting on promises a special surprise for me at my party, so I'm hoping it's a blow... horn or something along those lines :bouncy:

oo snaps! go b-day boy! go!

Happy B-day Relentlo.

So I finally got some s-video cables for the Saturn, so I finally played the thing. Played a lot of Layer Section and Mega Man 8, and while I'd already played the latter on the PS1, both games are fucking great. Good times.
in ur personal pinion chac, what's more worth owning? DC or Sat?
Depends on what you're into. Saturn's got more 2D, simple shit, and the Dreamcast has more 3D stuff. There seems to be a few more good lengthy games on the Dreamcast, too. If I had to pick one... damn, that's tough... uhm, probably the Dreamcast though because it's got some of the most unique games out there.

But man, you gotta have both.

I've never owned a saturn, so it's something I may look into down the line. One thing I love the most about the DC is how arcadey the whole system feels. It's like having a mini arcade in a noisy thing.

That reminds me. Maybe I should try and go back to play Ikaruga on XBLA. I usually died in Stage 3 or 4, though. I never beat the Stage 3 boss, either.

I also need help completing Gears 2 on Insane (if someone wants to help me, maybe play on a lower difficulty level, that's fine, because it's past the point of being completely broken). And I think I'm finally ready to take on Stages 5-10 (I assume there are 10 stages) of De Blob, which, if you have a Wii, you should buy, because it is awesome. Hopefully I can get some time in later today, maybe do Stages 5 and 6, then take on 5 events in Burnout. Only 80 away from my Elite License.

Happy birthday Rero.

I'm sure when than chick mention jin saotome she just wanted you to blodia fist super her or something!
I fully understand your backing it, that's cool. I don't think it's for everyone. And I understand the demo thing -- Uncharted's demo was horrible too me, but when I could get the game for less than $10, I gave it a shot and it turned out the demo was the worst part. I mean, Dead Space has a horrible demo too. The game is so much better than the demo lets on... But to pay $15 for the full game of a demo you loathed? I mean, Rei had it right -- you can't sell it, you can't trade it... there's no way to gamefly it or anything of the sort. I had a hard time paying for SSFIITHDR and I'm a huge SFII guy... But if the game did it for you? I can live with that -- not trying to change your opinion -- was just offering the "counter" arguments, as it were to balance the cosmic scales. ;)

NullDC and that saturn emu ftw.

No more SCREEEEECH from the ol' Dreamcast.

and the new PS2 emulator builds are glorious  I was gonna pull my PS2 out of the closet today, but nvm on that...looks like I can pretty much go full time emulator on it. :)

edit: and happy bday rolento

edit: lol @ Braid comments. I am awesome at starting GGT civil wars. Next up: Halo vs. Final Fantasy vs. Killzone

Frosty, you need to have "Chika" added on the tatoo on Doms arm.

My brother and I got through the airport and the corn field chapters of L4D on advanced. Still working on the first two. We're going to have to play with other people on expert.

That section 8 trailer looks interesting. Hopefully they pull it off into something other than your typical sci-fi space marine shooter.

The armor suits themselves look great, so hopefully they get put to their full potential.

some of my favorite times gaming happened with my friend's Saturn. we stayed up all night playing Panzer Dragoon Zwei and getting all the different dragons. We played Fighting Vipers and Fighters Mega Mix till sun up.
Good Times.

Happy Birthday RERO!

I gotta say, Braid goes far beyond just the simple, 'reverse' time puzzles that you hated Frosty. And it's far from simple later in the game.

Hope you like it NinjaDDD.

I'm trying to figure out how to use up my extra MS points from CC, I've already got the games I want sorted out and ready to download but the extra I guess I'll just hold on to.

I can't believe how flooded XBLA is these copy/paste cheap games that are so shallow, and have identical menus. LP seems to love Clonin' Clyde though or whatever it's called. Maybe I'll give that a shot...

Halo - 1 was awesome, 2 sucked, 3 was so so
Final Fantasy - Just... no
Killzone - Never played it

Wik: Fable of Souls is a very unique and fun little game that gets no love. It was a launch title that got buried. Check out the demo. Think Bionic Commando + all platforming puzzles.

The thing that Killzone has over Halo IMHO is the universe. Halo always felt like it was sponsored by NERF and disney.
