Morning all. What's the bold opinion du jour?
Life sucks, then you die.

I think I'm going to set up my Dreamcast today with my old NEC 17" CRT flat monitor and my old receiver and speakers. Make like a ghetto arcade or something out of it. The DC is currently hooked to my LCD monitor, but this NEC CRT kicks so much ass, and i"m not using it.

So I think I'll do that and play some DC today. MvC2, CvS2, and some shmups. Yeah.

I think I'm almost done with Persona 4(I think I have about 15-20 hours left). I'm in not in any rush to finish it though. As the big twist was spoiled for me on the mecha board on 4chan....
Got that sweet VGA box for your DC hank?
Hell yeah. Love it. :)

One DC hooked to my TV in S-video, the other hooked to a PC monitor. I'd like another VGA box so I can has one for each DC.
In Chrono Trigger, no matter who's in your party, all characters gain EXP (whether they gain the same amount or not, I don't know). In some games though, like say...Eternal Sonata and Final Fantasy XII, characters have to be in your party to level up, making grinding so much worse and the game a lot more tedious.
I think they gain somewhere less than 100% exp while not in your party - can't say for sure, just noticed that people I played with more started to separate from the pack a bit. Of course you have to be in the party to gain AP, but you can't win 'em all.
Tell me how it is. I have been thinking about downloading it.
I have a feeling LIT's worth the $8 if you enjoy this sort of puzzler. It's probably short (2-3 hours) as it took me about 20 minutes to get through the first 5 of 30 levels. There can be a bit of trial-and-error if you don't want to take the time to plan out your actions at the beginning with your flashlight, but even so, replaying a minute or two of a level isn't a big deal should you die.

I was looking for something more along the lines of "_popular American game_ is terrible"
"Baseball is terrible."
"Football is terrible."
"Solitaire is terrible."
"Chess is terrible."
"Tag is terrible."
"hide and seek is terrible"
"tom clancy's C.A.W.K.S." is terrible.

"AMERICUH IS TERRRRIBLE"

Well I'm noticing some separation, but it does snap back if I bring a character into a battle for a few fights. It's weird. I was mistaken about Eternal Sonata though. But it gets to a point where it's not worth leveling up other characters, whereas Chrono Trigger you want to. In Final Fantasy XII...yeah...if that was in place, I would've beaten it already. But because it's not in place, I'm 55 hours in and nowhere close to beating it.

Speaking of which, I just beat Chrono Trigger.

Way too far!

I could use a VGA for my Dreamcast, my tv has a VGA input. Is one brand or style better than another? And are a decent number of game compatible with it?

It seems that most games are compatible. It usually says on the back of the box. As far as different cables and quality, the system itself generates the signal, so the build quality of the cable is the only concern. You can add a VGA port to a Dreamcast, if you can solder small connections and don't mind putting a VGA jack on the back of a DC.

I use this one that I got for $20 shipped a few years ago. It works perfectly, and even has Svideo outputs built into it. You might have to hit ebay to get one. It does look like it came straight off the streets of Hong Kong though.

I keep forgetting that my DS Lite can play GBA games! I've never had any handheld machines until now so have no idea what games are good. I like RPGs, action, sidescrollers, schmups.

What are some games that I should look into?

Thanks!

JS1, just beware of ebay adapters that say they're VGA, when in fact they're just composite to VGA converters.
You won't be getting the beautiful-better-than-Wii-lolz VGA picture from your Dreamcast with that.

Wow, I played L4D last night with my friends with an ancient cell phone wired mic I had.

Just a simple ear bud with mic, but it never dropped my voice, I heard everyone VERY clearly (didn't sound like the usual muffled garbage) and apparantly I sounded better to everyone.

No mute or volume control, but it's worth it.

Yes, beware of the composite to VGA converters. They are pure trash.

I've been using a standard cell phone headset with my 360 because my 360 headset stopped working. I do miss the mute and volume, but you can take the control part of the 360 headset and solder on a different headset. I might just do that.

I just had one of the weirdest dreams ever.

I dremt that I was at my cousin's place, and I was looking through a bunch of his old games, and I saw some Sonic game where he teams up with the Ninja Turtles and Iron Man. It was a beat-em-up, and it was surprisingly fun. The plot was that they had to go all over the US to collect coins that had been stolen from the Treasury. The cover art was Sonic and Iron Man looking like they were flying towards you, with the TMNT posing underneath them.

I wouldn't put it past Sega to make something like this.

Day 1!!!

Does anyone ever get the dream where you find a whole bunch of awesome rare games for a dollar a piece, and then you wake up pissed that it didn't really happen?
The day structure was garbage.

People complain about the save system, but the timed gameplay was worse.
I thought it being a game about a mall full of zombies and yet being incredibly boring was the worst thing of all.

I still don't see the problem with the save system. It's no different than any other game that has save points instead of save-anywhere, except it's better because the save points are always in the same place, and you always know where they are relative to you.

I wasn't as far into GTAIV as I thought I was. :p

Oh well, I keep plugging away at it until DLC. Happily enough, taking such a long break from the game has helped my continued enjoyment of it.
I thought it being a game about a mall full of zombies and yet being incredibly boring was the worst thing of all.
Well, Dead Rising does suck, it did have potential.

Get rid of timed gameplay and let people play how they want to and I bet it'd be a lot more fun.

You're incredibly boring.

The main problem with the save system is the timed gameplay. If you wanted to save the game sometimes you would need to go out of you way to find one. Which would also waste some of your time. Also I'd like more then ONE save file in DR2. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Also with the save system I hate how it throws you back to the title screen if you die.

I mean, if you finish a mission but don't have enough health to make it to a save point and you die...gotta do it again. That's incredibly stupid.

Onechanbara sounds really bad after reading more impressions. Gonna wait on that now.

I need someone to co-op Earth Defense Force with.

I wish that game would have had online co-op.

Such an awesome game though.

More than one save file would be nice. While I do have a few small complaints about the game, IMO I really enjoyed the game I think it's a really solid game for the 360. I think people condemn the game so much because they let themselves get overly hyped on the subject matter of the game, and then badger the game's flaws to the point that they convince themselves that they don't like and it's a "terrible" game because it wasn't exactly like they wished/hoped it would be.
