Dang.

A GGTer who doesn't like RPGs? I'm surprised they let you keep your decoder ring.
I stay quiet, they live with it. Win-Win ... but I want a decoder ring now.
So is it multiplayer only?
Sounds like there's no story mode as everyone creates their own character.

Suits me I guess, I loved the original LP multiplayer.
I don't think so.

I think instead of having a main character, you create your own "soldier" for use in both campaign and multiplayer. I think the focus is shifted from "i'm running solo" to i have squadmates.

Think of gears. You're "team based" even if you're playing alone. I think that's what they're going for.

No big loss. I don't even remember what the story of LP was, other than "World is cold, dudes want to revive it." or something like that.
Forced co-op! :Whee:
I don't mind. Since I never really got into LP single player. Most of the time I spent playing the game was Akrid Hunter in Colonies. That was tons of fun if you had a good game going... sadly most games had the humans spam the Akrid with plasma grenades.
Hey Ben - I got XIV the other day. :)

And what Cinematic Titanic episode did you just watch?
Nice, XV is up for pre-order on Amazon, it's only $42 which isn't bad.

Well I'll be watching "Blood of the Vampires" tomorrow, I put that into my user title because I knew there was a new one this week and I didn't watch any MST3K last weekend.

I really enjoyed LP single player, I'm looking forward to the sequel, even if it is a bit different.

Has anyone seen a potential release date for LP2?

And allow me to reiterate .. I can't wait! :whee:

Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. I'll go check it out now.

Just because it's a team aspect of sorts doesn't mean it'll be a [forced] co-op aspect in the gameplay.

There's a HUGE difference between CoD:W@W and RE5. While you have a squad and they can help if you play scripted movements right, they're not a real "co-op" type aspect... there's still a difference between 1p and 2p in CoD... RE5 requires the 2p to be there and if they aren't, they get shoddy AI. ;)

OMG, Disgaea 3 getting a trophy patch has me beyond happy. It sucks I might have to restart the game (I have just less than 10 hours), but I'll do it since I want to see some story sequences again.
I'm surprised MGS4 hasn't gotten a trophy patch.
They're still considering it, from what I've read.
I'm surprised MGS4 hasn't gotten a trophy patch.
I don't think it ever will. I keep telling people over and over again I really don't see it getting trophies. Adding trophies is no easy task either. It's like they have to find out where to place trophies, then edit the main code putting them in, then re-testing the entire game making sure no new bugs come up. At the end, they have to re-submit it for approval. Most games which are constantly getting updates, adding trophies isn't a problem, but MGS4 itself hasn't received updates. I really think Kojima rather spend time working on his next project also. I DO see trophies coming to MGS4 is there's a new edition of the game (like maybe MGS4 Existence), but if there isn't, they won't come. Disgaea 3 was still getting updated since it got a big expansion pack in Japan.

Yeah I haven't either. I intend to get to it soon. Maybe I'll do that next to add some color/levity to my gaming (playing RE5 now) and then go to Dead Space after that.

The only game I kinda want to get trophies is DMC4.

In other news apparently it's snowing really badly outside. I'm too lazy to get up and check though.

I'm confused about something .. why don't the price of PS3 games drop over time like they do for the 360? Does SCEA tell retailers they want these games to stay close to retail or is it just a matter of supply/demand? The only exceptions to this rule so far seems to be LBP and MGS4. They're currently cheaper than Heavenly Sword or Ratchet and Clank or Folklore. Actually, now that I think of it, it seems to be a trend that the closer a game was released to the launch of the PS3, the more expensive it will be.

Actually, now that I think of it, it seems to be a trend that the closer a game was released to the launch of the PS3, the more expensive it will be.
I explained it in a post once. SCEA does NOT drop prices of their first party games.

A lot of it is because SCEA is losing money on every PS3 console they sell, so they are trying to make that money up by not dropping prices in games to get as much back as they can. That's just what SCEA does (SCEA also sees their console having slow growth due to a higher pricetag, so they really see no reason doing pricecuts because they don't expect a big spike). The only time they will drop is when it goes GH (for the more popular games), and that won't be until 1-2 years down the line. So basically, SCEA is a lot like Nintendo. If you want their games bad, you will have to pay a premium price unless you come across a sale. It's like if they sell a game for $20-$30 (when you factor in all the costs), they are not making back all that much money when you factor in retail loyalty, certain percentage that goes to the developer, etc. The only time a game drops usually is because the retailer decides to take a hit and clear it off their selves (like Target does when they clearance some games and Meijer has done that to some stuff).

MS just drops the price quickly because they have the money and would rather get a particular game into as many homes as possible, even if they don't make much (while SCEA's main goal is to profit).

If people have a Meijer in their area, they can find some SCEA games discounted. I've bought some for CAGs and people at other forums and sent the stuff to them (like they had Hot Shots Golf: OoB for $35, R&C Future: ToD for $25, Buzz! Quiz TV for $35, etc.).
Yeah, first party games almost never drop, ala Nintendo.
I don't see Uncharted, R&C Future: ToD, GT5P, etc. (the next games in the GH line) dropping until August 2009. SCEA tends to release new console GH games in August, and those are the games I see coming up next. I don't see them dropping their late 2008 games until 2010.
It's snowing bad enough that school is closed :whee:

Too bad I don't have any classes today
Yeah, my college shutdown when I barely had any classes (when we had so much snow). I'm just glad to see the snow gone.

I think a MGS4 trophy patch would get me to sit down for another playthrough.:D
It's snowing bad enough that school is closed :whee:

I'd say visit the deals thread, but I know you live in the middle of the forest and have to follow a breadcrumb trail to get to work. As such, most B&M deals aren't available to you.

But these 1st Party Sony games DO go on clearance at B&M locations, it's just never an across the board price cut.

Since when does Kojima have to be involved for Konami to add trophies to MGS4? :whistle2:s

Considering MGS4 has an award system of sorts, one *could* assume they'd just have to add a few more generic trophies (complete the game, obtain all weapons, etc.) and then patch it in -- which sony should have an API for anyway.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/games/2009/03/konami_still_pondering_trophies_for_metal_gear_solid_4-2.html

"On the subject of MGS4/MGO trophies and Konami ID - we hear you. We have been circulating these issues internally, and we will report back as soon as we are able."
Insomniac stated that no game before R2 would get trophies, but every single game they release from now on will contain them. Its mostly because they were busy trying to crank out R2 for the Holiday season and are now trying to get the next R&C game out by the end of 2009.
We saw how well R2 ended up too, didn't we?

Maybe they should've delayed it and added trophies to R&CF:ToD.

Sounds like it was a good keynote, but he left a cliffhanger at the end. He even pokes fun at his long cutscenes.
Full game.
Don't believe joystiq.
Yeah, I dunno. It doesn't specifically mention PSN or DLC, just that it follows up on the story told in ToD and QfB.

I started up Final Fantasy CC: Echos of Time. It's pretty cool so far! While it's fun in single player, I can tell it'll be better in multiplayer mode. I have to admit, the isometric platforming is a little difficult, though (Landstalker). Glad I don't take falling damage. :p

If they're trying to make the ultimate stealth game, MGS4 was a huge fucking step back. Hint: if you're trying to make a game, don't insert two hour movies in between short bursts of gameplay. They were pretty close with MGS3. Though some would argue that Spliter Cell does stealth better.
