I graduated High School in 2006.

I felt so old when I bought the Matrix 10th anniversary blu-ray. I can't believe it's 10 years old.
Nice, same as me (06) although I am 42 years old.

Kidding. Although sometimes it doesn't feel like I am...

I graduated in '04 as well.

Funny topic to bring up though - I felt old today when A) I got a thing in the mail about my little cousin graduated high school and B) My arm was sore after throwing a baseball yesterday.

Just started FF7 again - good bye social life for like a week.

Okay - I need a recommendation from you RPG heads. I'm not normally a big fan of the genre, but I've got a lot of spare time right now and have been hankering to play a new JRPG since FF7 was released on PSN.

I don't really know how to describe what kind of RPG I like, so I'm going to list some games that I really like and some that I don't like, then maybe you guys could steer me in the right path. I have all the systems except PSP, but would prefer it on 360 or PS3 (Wii wouldn't be THAT bad.)

Games I really like...
Beyond Oasis
I glitched it too -- I used that funky radioactive no damage zone in the playground until the choppa showed up. Then I did like Maklershed advises and GOT TO THE CHOPPA!
:whee:
In 2004 I wasn't even in High School yet.
Damn

Tales of Vesperia is a solid choice. I greatly prefer Lost Odyssey over it though, as far as 360 RPGs go.

If you like Pokemon, I'd say give Persona 3 or 4 a shot.

Valkyria Chronicles isn't really an RPG although some would like you to believe it's an SRPG, but it should fill your RPG needs.

My recommendations in order:

Persona 4
Persona 3
Lost Odyssey

Valkyria Chronicles

Tales of Vesperia.

The persona games are so unique, anyone who enjoyed pokemon when they were younger and likes JRPGs need to give them a try.

I started feeling old when I turned 21 and realized I had nothing more to look forward to in birthday milestones.
Games I didn't really like....
Any Pokemon past Red / Blue / Yellow
How are the later ones any different from the early ones?

Dead Rising is only outputting in 2.0 stereo, I have the 360 system settings set to 5.1. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Got it. Just had to trick the system.

Although the order is debatable, this is a good list.

For our senior class trip we all had to have our parents sign permission slips so we could watch pg-13 movies

IGN's Greg Miller reviews Ghostbusters- 8.0/10

Caveat:
Let's get this out of the way: I'm a Ghostbusters Super-Fan. It's my favorite movie, I own a jumpsuit, a movie-accurate Proton Pack and I even cried during an episode of Extreme Ghostbusters when Slimer accidentally killed Eduardo... keep in mind that this was a cartoon that aired when I was in high school. Personally, I like the idea of people reviewing games from franchises they love because I feel like they'll be tougher on a property than your average reviewer, but that's my opinion.
TMK finally got a job?
Ugh. don't say that. I need one of those... may work at ... THQ... again. *gulp* The pay is just so nice!

Hrm, I didnt think about it when I was in the store, but saw an open box of Guitar Hero Smash Hits in Target today. Not supposed to come out until next week, but it was in the shopping cart where they had the boxes with Tiger Woods 10 and Prototype that hadn't been put out yet.

No interest in it, but odd that they would have it already

Prototype, or Red Faction Guerrilla? That's the dilemma.

Man, Sony UNDERSTANDS games! New SCEE Head Andrew House knocks the ball out of the park in his first public interview.

If you look back at previous lifecycles, like PS2 versus N64, we have lots of data that suggests that lots of people bought into N64 as their entry level gaming device, and were happy to upgrade to a more powerful machine later in the lifecycle when the price point was right for them.

I think we're going to see this later on PS3, and the fact that it's a Blu-ray player as well and that there's a [greater] wealth of network based experiences than are perhaps available on the device they already have will add to the proposition. I think that will definitely be a factor in the marketplace.

RFG...my buddy has been playing Prototype on his 360 and he told me that the controls suck, it is buggy, and it is short.

Hrm. I know a guy who knows a guy who worked on it, and it did look fun. Activision 2 day late review embargo not promising either..

$20 Gift Card at TRU makes me want to go buy it though. And get Ninja Blade too. hrm..

Prototype > Red Faction.

Neither are epic or amazing, but both are impressive.

I am having more fun with prototype though, but RF does have online.
Prototype, or Red Faction Guerrilla? That's the dilemma.
Played both and strongly recommend Red Faction over Prototype, neither are stellar, but Red Faction's just way better than Prototype ... imo.

Haven't played Prototype, but RFG is good. Single player was surprisingly good. It's a sandbox style game set on Mars. Both the side missions and main story missions are fun. Multiplayer is solid.

Are the DS Castlevania games any good? I played Circle of the Moon on GBA and enjoyed it, but I don't want to really play the same game again if it hasn't changed much.
Dawn of Sorrow is excellent. Though definitely play Aria of Sorrow first if you can.
This.

I haven't checked out prototype yet, but I plan on staying far away from RFG. Volition, to me, is synonymous with Saints Row. And that just about kills the idea of RFG for me. I think: Saints Row on Mars! and that's the end of it.

I've seen a million, my favorite PSP threads and posts and what not. But what PSP games do the GGTers love? Recommend me anything for the PSP. Which model, case, games, memory stick. Whatever you feel.

I'm thinking about going for this for memory. 16GB for $43.

I'm not sure whether to get a DSi or PSP.
I like PSP because of the games and emulation, but the DSi has some good stuff as well.

writing from puerto rico:

Crisis Core
Metal Gear Acid 2 (best deal on the system IMHO)
Patapon 2
Monster Hunter F2 (not for everyone)
Tekken DR
SFA3
Jean D'arc

there's more but I'm not home so... I'll be here till next tuesday since I shoot a music video on this coming monday. crazy... we have professional lighting and a set >_< and I gotta direct this thing >_<

plus puerto rican food is already making me feel fat. the women dont :)
DoS and AoS are on a whole different level. OoE was... solid... at best.
This. DoS and AoS are the best in the series. Yeah, that's right. Better than SotN.

As for PSP games, don't forget DJ Max.
This. DoS and AoS are the best in the series. Yeah, that's right. Better than SotN.
I actually agree, never played AoS myself but DoS was definitely better than SotN in my opinion.

Man, I've been marathoning FFVII for the past couple of days. Almost at the end of Disc 2, I just need to go back to the Ancient City and find out (again) why Holy isn't activating. Sephiroth, you're such a stinker...

Rest assured, they are nothing alike. Give the game a shot mang.

The 30 minutes I played of Prototype sucked.
