I was a bit disappointed at the selection for the DS games for BB's B2G1 sale this week, as I could simplify all of their games down to about six $20 or less games I could've been okay with getting. I passed on Sonic Chronicles, Peggle DS, and Puzzle Quest: Galactrix for Chrono Trigger, Big Bang Mini, and CivRev. I really was hoping for Advanced Wars: DoR for the CivRev spot, but I guess Nintendo doesn't make as many copies of that as they do for the many other games that are easy to find.

I'm liking Big Bang Mini, though the bonus zones changed from easy to very hard once I got to the third area since it's timed so that I have to react in less than a second to succeed. If there wasn't a mode tied to getting all of the bonus zones, I wouldn't care, but that's not the case.

Started up Chrono Trigger, which I played for a bit when I got my SNES a few years ago and never stuck with it. I'm hoping this will stick a bit more easily than my first attempt. I didn't remember that CT had a more real-time battle system, so I'm mostly just button-mashing at the moment to get everyone to attack something before the enemies.
This is at least the 2nd time he's posted it. Here's a hint: if you have to write "that's not a spoiler because..." after it, then you're wrong.
Ohhh whatever. Alright, you guys win. I'm just amazed everyone doesn't already know about this. And then it was on TV and a video was released to the public - so I assumed it was known. My bad.

But, do you really think you are going to avoid it before it comes out? It's like a year away.

I still don't understand why the fact that Shepard
can die at the end
is somehow a bold new step or whatever. It's nothing new both in the general sense and for ME itself.

It's not really a spoiler imho, they say it in every interview anymore, they're just letting you know, he CAN die, so to becareful of all your decisions, so that way you can take him into the 3rd if you want.

I would have gladly been in the dark if it wasn't for Listen Up where Garnet just said it without warning.

No, it's a spoiler. Just because Bioware likes to think it's a such a great thing to tell everyone doesn't change that. Also some people like myself have been avoiding any plot related news about ME2. And there is no reason to becareful since unlike Fable 2 you can have multiple savefiles.

I named my seraphim in Sacred 2 "Spoilers." I dunno why.

and Mass Effect 2 looks fucking sweet. and I don't think his post was a spoiler. I've hardly looked at anything about the game, but I already know that they're trying to make it with a lot more permanent deaths and consequences mixed in...so it's not surprising that they'll have a bad ending. The question is whether it's going to be like "you got killed in combat! Thanks for playing! Achievement unlocked: bad ending" or if it'll be a full fledged thing.

Same here. The multi is so much fun.

I played Blazblue for a bit last night and it was very fun also, I really like the 2d graphics and the animation is awesome. Me and my wife played a few matches against each other and I liked the fact that specials are mapped to the right stick, it makes it easier for someone like my wife or my 8yr son to play the game.

Gah!

I can understand if you don't find it the greatest game ever, but it is definitely an awesome remake.

I'm 22 and I dig it. I remember playing the NES game days on end...

:D

I guess you wouldn't understand the nostalgia if you didn't own an NES as a kid blowing on the cartridges to get the system to read it or if you just missed that era completely, but then again, what is it about the game that screams "worst purchase ever"?

Visuals are nice, challenge rooms/scoreboards are nice, music is awesome, level layouts are challenging yet fun (except on Super Hard!), controls are slick. What's not to like, the story? :p

I thought Bionic Commando Rearmed was okay. It definitely isn't the shiny piece of greatness many people make it out to be. Especially when it comes to finding secrets and the extreme difficulty.

The top down levels are tedious and annoying, I hate not knowing where to go (use your bazooka to open the wall in area 6! *tries to go to area 6* YOU NEED A GREEN KEY CARD BITCH!). The controls feel awkward and the gameplay isn't that fun once you get over "hey, cool, bionic arm" (ie the first level).

I played a bit of Final Fantasy 6 Advance and Mega Man ZX Advent today (2nd playthrough on the latter). Um...I'm like 9 hours into the game, and although I'm grinding I'm finding difficulty with the field monsters I'm destroying enemies and bosses in towns and dungeons who are supposed to be more powerful :S

As for ZX Advent, I am trying to play through it on Normal difficulty, but I find myself forced to play on the lower difficulty at the moment :( [I have 2 playthroughs of that going right now]

@whoknows
You have to be like 100 years old to get it.

Pretty much nostalgic love for the original...I think.

I'm not sure since I'm not that old.
Nah... I never heard of Bionic Commando before the remake and I love that downloadable, mega deal at $10.

Never had an NES to play Bionic Commando and I even didn't like the GBC game when I bought it for my GBA, but I enjoyed BCR a lot. It's too bad that they didn't carry over the same level of quality over to the 3D game.

:(

I guess this isn't your kind of game then. Is it awkward because it's a platformer you can't jump in?

If you've played the NES game, the key card problem isn't as bad as knowing which color radio/transmitter thing to put in inventory, that was annoying.
I never did run into the Key Card problem though because I stopped in all the neutral areas first and grabbed everything before moving on :D

If you didn't know, there's little things you can do to make swinging easier. Like retracting the arm and hitting down while swinging to drop down immediately, hitting down while swinging to "hover" in the air and get in better position, and other little protips to help change the velocity, arc, position, how high you "hop", and distance to cover when swinging.

Of course, I learned most of this getting eagle badges in the Challenge rooms and I loved the bionic arm even more :p

I mean, I was able to bust this after a little practice: (Not my vid, just sayin')

However, this one is a bitch despite how simple it looks:

I should get back to that... For some reason I can't past the boss gauntlet in the final level. This has never happened to me in a mega man game before. :(

I quit the first ZX because of the goddamn awful map system.

Now I'm playing Bully on 360...just started chapter 3...as part of Operation Thin out the Backlog Before College. Bully was released in October 2006. GTAIV was released on the next generation of consoles in April 2008.

Guess which game had mid-mission checkpoints.

For shame, Rockstar.
I quit the first ZX because of the goddamn awful map system.
It was bad but it didn't make it unplayable. But the 2nd game doesn't have that problem.

Beat ZXA once but I feel I'm missing one transformation (I have 15). I didn't find the maps of ZX or ZXA all that good or all that bad. I wish it were more detailed in its design, though.

You know what had a terrible map? DQ8

Zooming to locations is annoying if you haven't played the game for a month or so and forget what place is where.

You can't zoom in, there's blue/red dots but they don't label the areas, you can't scroll/scan the map, etc..

Man... I hate trying to cut back on spending. I'm not exactly running short on cash but I feel that I should be more responsible with the money I have been spending on games. I've been pretty good when it comes to my anime and manga purchases since I'm able to hold out for the sales. But for some reason I can't do the same with games...

Yeah, it really does....Oh well, I'll be able to print off the shipping label soon and I'll get to send off the 360 tomorrow hopefully :)
It's a good time to have a massive DVD backlog.

Yea. Did ya finish Ico? I don't remember. What about SoC?

I started and finished my first campaign in CivRev DS and it's about as good as the console versions. I do want to get the 360 version for the easy achievements.

Red Faction's multiplayer is insanely fun. How come I never see more than a couple of games going in any playlist at any time?

Thats how I feel. For some reason my spending comes and goes. One month I won't buy anything, the next week I'll buy a ton of games because good sale comes up.
