Borderlands has one thing going for it, and that's the look of it. I've got to admit, graphically, it looks pretty sweet. BUT I don't get the hype behind it.

I'm on the same page.

so far ive beatn odst batman and brutal legend
i just realized that this is the 1st time in a while that ive finished games right after i buy them then again this is the 1st time ive beaten any games (well unless u count xbla games)

at least now its not my backlog and ive been doin a good job of getting rid of what i wont need thanks to trus trade in values

I really want borderlands to be good because I like gearbox, I like post-apocalyptic, and I like the "FPS and RPG made a baby" tagline.

Unfortunately most of the impressions are not positive. I think it's going to be very divisive. Giant Bomb seems to like it, Idle Thumbs said it was awful. I'll definetly be waiting for reviews.

I think I'm gonna have to bite on Forza 3 next week though. I got a copy of Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires for $10 at target clearance that's going back to gamestop for hopefully $20 and that'll be like $10 off F3.

They had a few more copies so if it works out i'll go back for more. Maybe it can work out to be 1/2 price all said and done.

I also really like this holiday season because I'm finishing games. I finished Batman, ODST, almost Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and expect to finish Brutal Legend before Modern Warfare hits.

awesome.
What's the odds of the ECA codes for amazon coming back before 11/10? :(
I really hope it doesn't take a month for them to get those codes back up.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Borderlands. All of the previews expounded on the diablo like loot system, which is intriguing, but they could easily mess that up.

I went in to Gamestop today, and pre-ordered the God of War Collection. Why? Because I wanted to. I also saw for the first time ever in a retail store...Tetris DS. The elusive game that I have hunted for for about 2 years. And now I have 2 days to come up with the cash to get it. I'm more than halfway there already.

I also got a NGS2 pre-order bonus code.

Borderlands looks like it could be a more fun combat system than Fallout 3 in a sense... I love games where I can actually see my damage popping up and doing so in a FPS seems very fresh to me. Thankfully, Borderlands has a level cap 30 levels higher than Fallout 3 initially was, so hopefully it will be great. I mean, it's got hundreds of thousands of weapons, 4 player coop? Sounds promising to me.

$10 copies of Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires, initially filled with disappointment and failure, turn to joy when gamestop happily gives $21 apeice for them and sells me borderlands for $30 out of pocket.

I gave my copy to a friend last year.

I would have sold it to you on the cheap.

Theoretical question: would you be pleased, pissed, or indifferent if Atlus updated Demon's Souls to either (1) reduce the difficulty or (2) allow you to keep your collected souls if you die?

I'm not sure. I've had my share of nerd rage with Demon's Souls so far, but I'm still enjoying it regardless.

More options for difficulty are never a bad thing though.

Another day at work, another 7 hours of Final Fantasy 7. I'm starting to really love the game now, since I'm finally done with Midgar and can explore the overworld now.

Keep it optional I say. Make an Easy and Normal difficulty, normal being the way it's meant to be played. Take away the ability to earn trophies on Easy too or something along those lines.

In theory... just booted up A Boy and his Blob. Didn't care initially, but d-pad support would have been nice, needs some precision to go up and down stairs. Purty game though.

Just finished FFIV: The After Years this morning, all 87 hours worth. fucking awesome.
NFS Shift was $24.99 amazon lightning deal. With the 3 for 2 deal, the $5 uncharted preorder credit, and 10% ECA, the total came out to $61. A lot better than I would've done for the same games @ TRU.
Dang, I miss that. I REALLY want that game too, but waiting for the next deal. I thought about getting that, Batman AA, and Rune Factory (or Muramasa) during the Amazon B2G1 free deal, but I honestly don't need to pile on games which aren't a priority for me to buy right now (because I'm already short on time).

Going to play more Uncharted 2 today, along with some PSP Go (I downloaded Mana Khemia for it after selling my UMD version. WAY faster loading).

Can't play too much today because I'm going to work again tomorrow just after 6am. I went to work today at 6:30am and worked for 8 hours. Looking at 6-8 hours tomorrow, then working Mon. - Fri. next week.

I know blader16 is 14. He told me that once when we played R2 together during a CAG night.

Are you salaried, TMK?

Hey tmk, next time you go to trade in a decent PSP game so you can get the downloadable version, let me know. I'd be happy to match whatever shit price they'd give you and then some.
theoretical question: what's everyone playing right now other than U2?
No Uncharted for me on account of my budget, so it's - guess what - more old as fuck games for me!

Specifically, a Malkavian gunslinger run of Vampire (You were right Rei, it is getting pretty interesting - I think I'm going to keep a close eye on my TV from now on. That fucking thing is up to something, I know it.). Also just starting Breath of Fire 4. Or at least, I think it's Breath of Fire 4. I might have accidentally jammed a WarioWare cartridge into my Playstation, because the sheer number of minigames I've played so far is borderline oppressive. Wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that some of them seem designed to capitalize on the pain-in-the-ass camera...
theoretical question: what's everyone playing right now other than U2?
World of Warcraft and...

World of Warcraft.

Seriously, that shit is so insanely addicting. I've put maybe 2 hours into Demon's Souls despite being pumped about it since like April.

It's all because they promised me Troll Druids with the next expansion. *sigh*
What was the consensus on xbox 360 vs PS3 versions of Brutal Legend?

Any big graphical/frame rate differences?
I heard the PS3 version isn't true 720p. It's like 640p blowed up or something.

And it runs at 29fps compared to the 360's 30fps.

I'm sadly not playing U2, couldn't really afford it after getting my PS3 and the games with it.

Buuuut here's what I'm playing:

Fallout 3: GOTY
Army of Two
inFamous
LBP: GOTY
MGS4
Disney: Sing It

I'm still playing Some Three Digit Number/Something Ridiculous followed by a Time Frame on the DS and I need to get back to MUA2.

I'm a slow gamer.

If you sell all of those, you can easily afford Uncharted 2.
Problem solved! Hell, you could even keep LBP.

B-but I love them all sooo much.

I just got the Big Boss emblem in MGS4 last weekend.

And man, Fallout 3: GOTY is a pretty boss game.

I started Titan Quest on my laptop just cause I haven't had any of my consoles all weekend. That's a fun game. Kinda making me want borderlands more for that loot-whoring aspect.

If Gearbox nails the lootwhore aspect of borderlands it could be very addicting. Then again nothing has really hooked me like Diablo 2 has.
Anybody see that Treyarch is making COD:MW Reflex for the Wii? WTF
Well, somebody under Activision has to port a two year old game to the Wii.

The more I play NFS Shift the more I like it, you can really tell the cars apart from the feel you get when driving them.

Tried to start Blue Dragon last night, but I couldn't really get into it. Also played some MUA 2, seemed ok.
The phantom page is your curse for still using 20 posts per page. :p
Wait, we can change the amount of posts we see per page? Where do I change!?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it.

I just beat it last night mak. (well, at 5:30am-ish ;) )

damn I didn't want this game to end. The experience was leagues better than anything else I've played this generation.

Easily, in my top 5 all time.

I heard someone throw this idea out and I really liked it.
I want a prequel where you play as a younger Sully and perhaps have a really green Drake be his companion.
Probably 360. Although both are probably insanely buggy.
I don't know about the 360 version, but seriously, this game is buggier than Tennessee in June. It's ridiculous, I've played the game for about 5 hours and I've had probably about 15 freezes, 3 of which would not come unfrozen until I turned off my PS3. The one good thing is, the auto-save saves early and often for you, so you rarely have to worry about messing something up.

Bethesda's engine is a buggy mess. Even Oblivion's engine had that catastrophic bug when the one big add-on came out that essentially would count down to a point that just destroyed your save or something like that. They should be happy to start using Id's new engine now that they are working together now.

Oblivion was buggy for me, but Fallout was way better. I probably played the game for at least 90 hours total since it's come out (on 360) and I've gotten maybe 3 lockups. The game loads slowly, but installing to the hard drive helps immensely.
