Get out of the left lane idiot!
A fun one in New Jersey is with the jughandles, where all turns are handled via the right lane. This results in assholes cutting across 2 lanes of traffic within 15 feet of the exit/jughandle at top speed regardless of who is in the right lane (or the exit lane) and how close they are to them.
Jughandles? You mean offramps? If so, At least they arn't 30 foot shared on and off ramps like here so that you are guaranteed to have a collision.
In my more younger days, if I was being tailgated because the other driver deemed me as going too slow I'd just turn on my windshield wipers and watch the driver behind me freak out. I'm still quite tempted to do that now that I'm older but I don't get the same joy as I used to namely because I've matured a bit, but if you catch me on a good day...

I'd rarely stay in the "fast lane" too long since I prefer having two lanes to escape to if things go wrong it is the ones that are on my bumper in that lane that drive me nuts, I mean seriously there are two lanes to pick to pass me and you still need to be all up on my bumper, seriously?
I don't get it. What would that do?

On bikes lanesplitting;

There are some states which forbid it, but usually it's quite legal. Bikes have no way of cooling themselves to a reasonable level, they rely on air flow. If a bike isn't moving for a certain amount of time, or fast enough, in extremely hot areas (LA notably), it can overheat.

Not only that but take the rider into account too. It's not like there's AC. Just don't be an ass and block them purposely.
I don't get it. What would that do?
The only thing I could guess is that they mean the washer fluid sprays back and mists the car behind them.
On bikes lanesplitting;

Likely excuse... That's their bad then.
Just don't be an ass and block them purposely.
Don't be a dumbass then and do stupid shit.
just drove form LA to Sac. anyone whos made that drive will agree with the OP. people just camp the left lane because theres a lot of trucks in the right, nobody gets over, so then crazy people pass on the right in between trucks and cut people off in the left. its annoying as all hell. i dont speed much, (80in a 75 this weekend), i get over when someone is coming up quick and cant stand it if someone doesnt do that same. just because the fast lane is slower than the slow lane isnt reason for someone to get over for someone faster. if theres room get over.
I hate that drive. I drive from orange county to san francisco about twice a year with the GF, and people are ridiculous. There are signs stating that slower traffic needs to stay in the right lane, yet people don't pay attention.

You'd think that would start to be a common sense thing at some point. A light bulb going off nope... Every day like cattle the commuters do the same thing the same way.

I don't see why people have to tailgate when they know I'm not going to speed up to over 20 miles over the limit. I'm going 75 in a 65. Chill out and wait for us to get past all this traffic and then I'll get over.

My driving strategy is to always stay in the number 2 lane and to never be the fastest person on the freeway; that's how I avoid getting tickets. My pace is to be faster than the right lane and slower than the left.

My gripes are more with merging and people passing me. My commute is in LA and therefore traffic filled, and I hate accelerating and then braking, so I try to maintain a constant speed and drive accordingly. It might mean leaving a huge gap between me and the next car, but the next car is braking anyway. I've gotten a couple of angry drivers pass me on the right, give me a dirty look, cut in front of me... and then they end up braking and I'm still behind them at my constant speed.

And merging, again, it's all about maintaining a constant speed. Therefore, assholes who go to a dead stop trying to merge into the left lane freeway exit cause traffic 10 cars deep. Slow down, match speed of merging lane, and find an opening... DON'T STOP CAUSE YOU SEE A TINY OPENING AND YOU WANNA FORCE YOURSELF IN THERE (that's what she said).

One time I hit 100 in my inline 4 on the way to San Diego at 2AM. The speedometer only went up to 110. I don't think I'd ever drive that fast ever again, I don't even like going 85.

Ive seen many a times when someone is in the fastlane and wont move out of the way for faster traffic, gets pissed when they come up on someone else that wont get out of the fastlane.

I agree OP. I also hate when people pull out in front of me and have the gall to go slow. You could have waited until I went by to pull out, fucktard. Also, why do they always seem to wait until you get really close before they pull out in front of you, instead of pulling out way before you get close? I also can't stand people who ride my ass. Either back off or pass. To end my rant I will say I also hate it when someone is driving slow as hell for a while, so of course I pass them, and they fucking speed up while I'm passing them, as well as people who put their brakes on when I pass them. Don't worry about it asshole, I will make it. If I didn't think I could, I wouldn't have passed you. End
Boo-fucking-hoo, that doesn't empower or justify you to break the law, which, if you were speeding at any time, you were doing.
fuck off. (It is worth noting that I always set my cruise at 5 over the limit, before you start calling me a maniac or any bullshit like that)
What's so strange about 100? I got my old Nissan up to 100 easily, and it was only a 4 cylinder. Any V6, or even an inline 5 could easily go 100. Granted I only went 100 on an abandoned road up in the middle of Michigan, it could still make it to 100.

Also, my grandma's Lexus could hit 120 easily. And it rode so smooth, it felt like you were only going 80.
Many vehicles have a governor on them that restricts them from hitting 100. My truck shuts off when it hits 98.

LOL I hate that one too. To keep the flow I do five over and pass tailgate bait. Half the time those suckers start riding my blind spot, as if it wasn't enough to go dangerously slow in the first place.

I would more or less empty the entire contents of my wiper fluid on the car behind me, you can watch them back off as they get "pissed on" by my car, again I was much younger then and got a kick out of watching them in the mirror going WTF?

That's gotta suck. Fortunately, I've never driven such a vehicle.

Hate is reserved for those who do the following:

* People who take extra long to turn right. Make the stop sign. Observe the red light. Be safe. Just make a point to go when you realize you can.

* People who take extra long to go on green. Green means go. You don't need to pull out like it's a drag race when it hits green but why hesitate as if you're unsure of yourself? It just means that by the time traffic hits the speed limit, it's turning red again.

* People who pull out and expect you to stop for them or pull out quickly and then do like 5 mph. I'm finding any possible way to get around you without endangering anyone else. You are not slick enough to pull off smooth driving. You will not be rewarded.

* People who swing to the other side first before turning. Unless you're a semi truck, this is considered erratic driving for a reason. You distract the driver behind you and it generally means you suck.

Heh, fun.

I used to have much more anger on the road. I'd drive over the speed limit. Usually 10-15 mph over on the highway. If someone tailgated me, I'd try a tap on the brakes. If they don't back off, I'd find a truck and match speeds next to him. Sometimes I'd leave a little gap to give the poor idiot hope, then when he made his move close it again. I've done this for miles. I used to seek out people who were driving like maniacs in my rear view mirror and set up my next move to specifically piss them off. Once a guy who kept trying to pass me reacted too fast and tore the heck out of his transmission. That was fun. I stopped to point and laugh at that guy. That was all when I had a much more stressful job and commute. Now I'm much more mellow. It takes a lot to piss me off the road now, but I still know all my old tricks when I do get pissed. ;)

Damn, we must be related.

You know what pisses off people that camp in the fast lane? Other people who camp in the fast lane that are slower.

When Im going and I see someone thats not moving out of the fast lane to let others by, Ill wait till theyre getting close enough, then move into the fast lane and do that to them...when they move over Ill gun it and let the traffic behind pass them up.

I love when people try to Nascar around everyone and one of two things happen: 1. I go normal speed and mange to catch up with the person because they get stuck behind people going slower than me or 2. I speed up and block them from changing lanes because I enjoy pissing assholes off.

If I'm driving 75-85 mph in a 65 mph area, there's no reason to go faster. If you want to get a ticket be my guest. I've been driving for 4 years now and I have yet to get a ticket or get in an accident. I drive 30 minutes to school 3 days a week, and 10 minutes to work 2 days a week.

Today on my way home from work, in front of me was 2 18 wheelers, 1 truck that had a rv travel trailer on gooseneck hitch, and a reg dodge truck...then me...

This is a 2 lane hwy, one lane in ea direction with a shoulder or breakdown lane..whatever you wanna call it.

Theres one small town that has a redlight...some soccer mom in a mini van comes flying up on me and insists on riding my ass while swerving side to side to see why Im not going faster...needless to say my white trash firebird is low enough that she could see why...if im stuck behind those vehicles, she's a fool to think Im gonna move over to let her in front...if Im not getting around them, she aint either.

So we came up on this town with the one redlight..its green, everythings going smooth...we go from 65-70 to 55...she STILL insists on riding my ass...as I approach the light it goes yellow. Mind you, I had PLENTY of time to go and make it, and she would have too..but NOOOOOOOOOOOO..I hit the brakes like Im stopping...then at the last second I go through making the yellow but completely cock blocking her from following....she eventually gets through and catches up but DID NOT get within 1 car length of me again...

My mom once told me that, in his younger days, my dad had a car with a custom-added switch on the dashboard that turned on his brakelights. When he found himself being tailgated, he flipped the switch and watched the the other car slam their brakes to avoid rear-ending him- which, of course, never happened since he wasn't actually stopping.

I don't think you could get away with that anymore, but I bet a lot of folks here wouldn't mind that setup.

You may not actually need the switch, some cars (like mine), will actually have the brake light come on with only minor pressure on the brake pedal, without engaging the brakes. Usually i do this when i'm already going over the speed limit and someone's still tailgating me.

And i totally agree with the O.P. driving slow in the left lanes, and obstructing the flow of traffic (even if traffic is flowing faster than the speed limit) is just a crime against other drivers.

If you want to go slow, then go as slow as you want in a lane(s) to the right. Why should other people be hindered by your driving style?

I never said I'm a pro driver. Nope. I just read back what I typed and I never typed that. My point was that people always say people my age are shitty drivers etc... and the yet the majority of people I see that are crappy drivers are much older than our age group because they have the "Oh I'm a pro attitude" when they drive.

As for the 2nd thing, most people on the highway go 10-20 mph over the speed limit on the highway depending on traffic. I don't know where you drive but that's how it is in the places I drive. I was talking about the people that feel the need to go faster than this. Hence the reason I said "If I'm driving 75-85 mph in a 65 mph area, there's no reason to go faster".

Thanks again for your relevant post. People like you add to discussions like this with your well thought out and intelligent posts. D-bag.

Whenever I'm driving on I-55 and this happens, I just force smile at the person in front of me until they realize what they're doing

Look - if you're going to be in the left lane, you can't stay on cruise control creeping by. You gotta pass! Simple as that! You can't be going 72 in a 70 in the left. You might as well be in the right and just pass when needed!

Side story though....I don't wanna curse myself, but when it comes to I-59/I-55/US 49 in MS...You can basically go whatever you wanna go as long as its just not reckless. Police WILL PASS YOU UP! I drive from Hattiesburg to Memphis sometimes (4 hours) and will only see 3 police tops through the whole duration. It makes me laugh so much

So I am on my way to Target this morning on a heavily traveled road. I am on the left lane and I come up to this one clunker. Suddenly the emergency lights flicker so I give them some space to move over...guess what? They don't move over. So I try to pass to my right and no one is letting me move over for awhile. After about a mile, I get a chance to move over. I take a good look at the car and see no flats or engine problems but what appears to be a latino showing his wife how to DRIVE! Now that's when I said, "Get out of the left lane idiot!!"

20 over can be considered reckless. If caught you will get pulled over (if only for the revenue) you will get points and if cops are on an aggressive anti-speeding campaign you will probably have to go to court. Do it in a city like DC and they will throw your ass in jail.

Also lol Macheezmo - I agree! :D

Actually that sounds dangerous as hell.

I can tolerate tailgating to a degree generally when it's open road and the conditions are ideal i.e. no inclement weather, I don't appreciate being drafted.

Don't shake'n'bake me.

what grinds my gears is when slow cars make a wall so no one can pass [ a car in each lane going the same speed and happen to all line up ]. that happened to me twice today...

also it's annoying when a car is in the fast lane going slow and doesn't catch on when cars start passing by them and switching back into the same lane to let them know that they're going slow, and the slow car just continuously sits in that lane with a parade behind them.
