If I come across an extra I'll be sure to hook you up!
If you do, then I suppose I'll be playing it with you.
Sweet! EA sent me a new Epic Edition code! WOOO! Gears beta here I come!
I feel like that defeats the purpose of them having online passes to dissuade used game buyers in the first place.
I like this shockingly arrogant answer, as Lost Odyssey was quite a good game... at least, it was for me as someone who really, really likes the older JRPGs, but can't stand all the NIS shit that we're flooded with today.

But Persona 3 or 4... easily 4. It's basically the same damn thing as 3, but I felt like the story was more compelling, the characters were more unique, and all the mechanics were simply more polished. And in Persona 3, you can't control your teammates in battle, which absolutely broke the game for me. The PSP version of 3 fixed that, but it's ghetto in a lot of other ways.

But seriously jim, I dunno if you'll like it. It is fairly weeaboo.
I just mentioned it because he said there were no current gen ones.
I've thought about playing Lost Odyssey, but the main character looks really unlikeable to me.

Is he?
I thought he was very relatable and sympathetic. One of my favorite lead characters ever.

The big difference between Persona 4 and 3 for me is that 4 did a much better job of integrating the dungeons into the flow of the story. That's partially because they are a part of the story rather than being a separate entity that unlocks periodically as a thing to do to get to the next chunk of the story.

Yeah, that was a big draw, as was the fact that the dungeons are very visually distinct... particularly later on into the game.

The main character is surprisingly likeable. This is especially true in the "Thousand Years of Dreams" segments.

Yeah, initially it seems like he might be unlikable due to being quiet, which comes off as a bit rude, but you quickly learn that is not the case and he is really just a tragic, intelligent character that internalizes his thoughts rather than whining about his problems like the typical JRPG hero. The "Thousand Years of Dreams" really help you to learn about him as a person.

I just realized that I never finished Persona 3 or 4 D:
And I suddenly have an urge to continue. Thank god I lost my USB-mini cable and can't charge my PS3 controller. I have a shit ton of work to do D:

Maybe I'll give it a shot then when I'm done with the stuff I'm playing right now.

Do it! I started not too long ago and I'm already somewhere on Disc 3. It's get very enjoyable the more you play, and even a character I didn't think I'd like (Jensen) ends up growing on you ^_^

I think you guys will be proud of me. I just started Yakuza 3, and I can honestly see it becoming one of my favorite games of this generation. It's amazing how originally I thought I'd be turned off because of the Japanese VA, but it makes it that much more realistic and I really can't see playing it any other way. Kazuma is one of the best characters from a video game, and he is just such a bad ass that you can't help but love him.

I'll grab it then, saw it at a local game store for $15.

And good to hear you love Yakuza 3. One of my favorite game series ever. Y4 is even better than 3 IMO. The 3 other characters you play as really add to the game.

English dubs kinda make the game funny...since that's what Y1 had and it wasn't great

They're lying to you, whoknows.

I think the only character I liked was Jansen as far as personality and story went (though Kaim was sort of tolerable). The villain is retarded, the rest of your party are mostly forgettable... I had to look up the characters just now to remember some of their names (like Ming, Sarah, and Gongora).

I think it's a solid game but that it gets more love/praise than it would if JRPGs hadn't really fallen off the face of the planet between the 360 and PS3. If you're really itching for a JRPG, it's worth a playthrough. If you go in expecting very little, you may be pleasantly surprised.
I will!
Sweet!
I feel like that defeats the purpose of them having online passes to dissuade used game buyers in the first place.
Most people probably wouldn't think to do it, the only reason I did was because that's how I was able to get the Signature Edition contents from Dragon Age 2. I just had to take a picture of the used voucher in my case and they gave me a new voucher for Epic Edition. Pretty great, I'm glad I get the Gears beta now. :D

I agree, I haven't played too far into LO, but after the first dream sequence I loved him.

I can back up this claim with charts.

You can't argue with charts.

Buy you see, the thing about that chart is that it only applies to what Frosty is saying. ;)

Except for the bit about Jansen. That bit is truf. Jansen was one of my favorite characters ever.

I didn't title the chart.

TBQH I prefer the social link stuff in P3P to the actual battle system. Tartarus (sp?) just seems so disconnected from the story that I feel very little initiative to go there. It probably doesn't help though that I set it to Easy for fear of frustration and thus the battles are all piss easy.

I did that on my second playthrough. I just didn't feel like grinding.

Made the game much more enjoyable.

I really want to play SMT Strange Journey. I've had it for a year, never even opened it... and yet all of a sudden I'm like "YO."

But now is really, really, really not the time to start a game like that.
A sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog?
True.

If it did come out though I wonder if I'd end up with two copies of it again.

I'll have to pick up LO again after I finish Dragon Age 2. I got to the 2nd boss and got annoyed losing a few times.

Just finished act 2 in DA2. I have to say the boss was way too over powered.

I put that shit on easy after awhile because some parts of the game just got stupidly hard out of nowhere.

I forgot to mention that I tried fighting him one on one first. He was more manageable when I fought him with my party.
Not very sure about Lords of Shadow after the first chapter...Ice Titan boss was irritating.
I liked that game a lot.

The next titan is far more annoying though.

Bunch of DLC gaming for me tonight.

Played through the Golems and Witch Hunt DLC for Dragon Age. Both were pretty meh, but at least I'm finally done with the ultimate edition that I've been slogging through off and on since around Thanksgiving.

Then I played through the Arrival DLC for Mass Effect 2. That one I thought was quite good, and got me even more pumped for Mass Effect 3! Still need to play through it and the Lair of the Shadow Broker on my 2nd character, then I'll be all done with ME2 since this is the last DLC for it.

Need to get the Arrival achievement for going Stealth on the first part of the mission as well, since I didn't think to check the achievement list until I was already past that part this time around. That'll give me all but the insanity playthrough cheese which I don't have the patience for. ME2 is already my highest achievement point total game at 1255 (1280 after I get that other one in the DLC) which I like since it's my favorite game so far this generation! :D

All of the giant bosses are pretty irritating in my opinion.

You liked Arrival? I thought it was really disappointing. I was especially disappointed in how your decision in the end changes nothing.
I put that shit on easy after awhile because some parts of the game just got stupidly hard out of nowhere.
I never found DA2 hard. In fact the only time I died was during the high dragon fight, and that's an optional battle that's meant to be ridiculous.
What is better, Persona 3 or 4? In the mood for a JRPG and it doesn't seem there are any current gen ones so I'm thinking about picking up one of the Persona games.
Unlike most it seems, I prefer Persona 3. The setting and characters are far better than Persona 4. I much prefer the darker setting, and the ending was great.

Word thanks for the heads up, I'll probably skip it. I'm thinking I might just play Mass Effect 2 instead to satisfy my RPG itch.

Or FF6... never played that.

I'm not really sure ME2 is actually an RPG.
Both good games if you haven't played them.
