Sony's not THAT sorry.
More like "Sony is aiming to win back the casual users who were likely to be fed up because they aren't invested in the platform".
Seriously -- how many of us who use our PS3 as our primary console have the balls and stupidity to pack everything up and trade it for a X360S with gold membership and replacing the games you really play? Those of us who have a large library of games and are great patrons of the service are easily forgotten... after all, we're invested, so they take our patronage for granted.
I said it on GAF and I'll say it again here:
How many users would rather have $15-$25 in credit to spend on whatever they like to get them back online, using their console, and playing the games they love instead of a bunch of games which might not even appeal to them.
People who were itching for their black ops fix and didn't trade their ps3 for a 360 would LOVE a free map pack when it's released on the service. Personally, if they gave me $20-$25 dollars, I'd say "Thank you Sony, I'll gladly purchase SSF4AE and the BBCS2 Platinum character with this and forgive you for letting hackers steal my personal information and halt the online service that I enjoy on a regular basis for over 3 weeks.".
