I'm not a huge fan of the 3DS thumb slider thing and it looks like the WiiU controller has something similar.

I missed the beginning...did they even talk about the console itself, or was it just all about the controller?

The controller streams off the console.

I can only imagine how much this fucking thing is going to cost. It's like you have to buy a PS3 or Xbox360...and then an Ipad on top of that. I cringed when one of the guys basically said "this is not a cheap console".

Wii U? More like fuck you, and your wallet too!
Wow NG3 was not censored.

Great, another console platform I'll need to choose my third party game on. :p
No details about online play.
Graphics looked worse than 360/PS3, especially on that Tekken "wii successor" game.
Gimmicky, I mean innovative/alternative, controls.
No mention of trophies/achievements.

You're honestly thinking of the Wii U as a replacement for your main system?

And no, no mention of the console -- the focus was the controller... which left the G4 people saying "I don't know what it is. I need to get my hands on it first."

Nintendo is finally doing what they should have to start with. Getting third party support. I agree with you thought it isn't going to make me switch or anything. I remember the early reports said the graphics was better than ps3/360. Where is those games? The graphics wasn't bad, but they wasn't as good as ps3/360.
What I'm worried about is whether that controller will be comfortable to play games with or not.
The analog placement says, "no".

Also, not trying to defend it or anything, but unless it's using like 5 year old or more technology (which could be possible, but I think is unlikely) it should be more powerful than the 360 and the PS3.

It wouldn't replace my main console, but it seems like a nice addition. I know people said that when the Wii was announced with the Wii60 crap, but I thought the Wii looked stupid to begin with. Wii 2 doesn't.

Also the games are a problem. Yeah, it'll have Darksiders 2 and NG3, but I'm not buying those on Wii instead of getting them on PS3.

Graphically, I'm glad Nintendo is finally going HD. I'm not surprised the early footage wasn't that great, but I'm sure we'll see in time whether it is better or worse power-wise than 360/PS3.

Yeah, that's what I would figure. I think people need to remember that the footage they showed is still pretty early, so judging the graphics entirely on that probably isn't the best idea.

And as far as games go, it's nice to see third party support at the start. I'm sure we'll see actual new games by next year's E3.

Edit: Reggie just confirmed 1080p

Wow. After the 3DS didn't sell well in Japan, Reggie is saying he's not worried about the Vita being the same price? Stupidity or balls of steel... can't tell.

Third party support is good.
But if third party support forces gimmicks into the new wii-u controller? not good.

As what some people would classify a "hardcore gamer", I have zero interest in this new console at this point.
I have a Wii in the house because my GF bought it... don't think I've ever bought anything for it other than a few initial games when it first came home, which I promptly sold.
The Wii has been relegated to bedroom duty, where it merely serves as a conduit to netflix.
The only thing shown that has my interest is the "game on the controller while others watch the TV". I have that problem with my GF when I want to game and she doesn't want to do something else...
However, if the PSVita gets the transfarring and PSN connectivity right and Vita games have trophy support? I know which platform I'll support.

Yeah, if the games just use the controller for an extra screen too add a little something, I'd be cool with it. But if stuff starts getting gimmicky, I will not be a fan of it.
I completely agree. That really threw me off.
Yea, I'm going to have to agree as well. It just didn't look like a traditional NG game, which is what I want.
Are you all in an IRC or other chat?
We were in the IRC chat, but it's pretty much dead now.

No mention of online play is definitely worrying, especially considering online play is what most of my game sessions are focused on.

Didn't they mention it during the EA part though?

Everyone's talking about the Wii-U of course, but I was actually interested in the 3DS part. Those games they showed were looking fun to me.

The real catch for me is do I want a bulky 6.2"+ controller in my hands constantly?
Also, don't know what the price barrier for entry is... how much is the console? How much are extra controllers? What kind of power source do the controllers use? What kind of online service are they offering? Friend Codes? Nintendo Online? Will it cost money like XBLA or be free like PSN?

They didn't, EA was just saying it had an open network, which means it's probably up to the devs like on the Wii.

I want 3D Mario!

Or wanting to use a controller with that awful analog stick placement...

This is how I feel about, too. I really plan on preordering the Vita, I'll probably wait for a pricedrop on the WiiU and the 3DSlite.

If it means I can stream the game to my controller while playing in bed, or stream the game next to my wife while she watches Law & Order...then yes.

The controller is pretty much the selling point here, because there's nothing beyond Nintendo first party titles that would make me even consider the system otherwise.

And as much as N is ripping the shit off out of Apple's tablet success, the streaming fuctionality is something I could use, as opposed to just being only an input gimmick like the Wiimote (or even Kinect for that matter).

For Uraizen/Hank.

Has anyone asked Crapcom about the PS3/PSN DRM on this bitch?

Dude, that DmC trailer doesn't look so hot. Not as laughable as I'd hoped, but then again, it's hard to tell... gotta love the "look, we kind of made him Dante you know and love in sections" where he looked a bit like Dante with the sword on his back, the dual gunfire, or the white hair in the early on surrounded by enemies clip.

Still does not look like it'd be better than the good DMC games though.
Hell, at this rate, maybe not even better than DMC2.

I'm going to guess you'll be able to buy the bundle without the tablet controller and use the classic controller pro for the ported games. There's no way that controller doesn't come with a ridiculous price tag.

I'm guessing a lot of the 3rd party stuff will just involve moving the HUD down to that controller anyway - which would be nice for inventory and weapon menus.

Yeah, if it's used for that kind of stuff in games, I could see it being useful. It could also remove some clutter from the actual main TV screen.

Wait until you get your hands on it, NT's games are notorious for having major input lag.

Yeah, I'll definitely wait until I can get my hands on it to judge it, but based on that video it looked like the gameplay could be fun. I couldn't care less what Dante looks like if it's fun to play.
