Yup, good times indeed. The mods wouldn't let us make a GGT at all so Chac kept trying to make the first thread over and over, and they'd keep deleting it. Been here since GGT#1, and it's not the same...

It doesn't help that a majority of the OGs are banned or missing.
 
There was definitely way more actual game discussion back near the beginning, nowadays when we do talk about games it's either blatant hate or trolling.

Games used to be better and it's hard to take anybody's opinion seriously now. Especially when I see crap like characters in a fighter being referred to as "cheap skins with a few moves" or arguments about "game A is better than game B" when it's all subjective anyway. There's no fucking argument there, geez.

I played an hour or so of Vanquish last week.

Game's cool. I'd finish it, but my PS3 isn't hooked up. Sliding around like a maniac is a blast.

Hey, I'm just throwing it out there. I used to talk seriously and sometimes joke around, but now it's not like that at all. Admittedly, there's some things that people say that are so god damned stupid that it deserves to be trolled, but sometimes it can be nice to just chill and talk about what was fun or looks sweet.



Game A would kick game B's ass.
 
Stayed up to late finishing Bulletstorm. Damn fun game though. Will play a little more tomorrow and see if there are more easy achievements I can knock out. But I'm not to motivated to go after any that require much work.

That's cool, I wasn't trying to change anything, I was just saying what was on my mind in terms of the GGT and posting in general. Most of my real talk takes place with members in here outside of the GGT itself with people like: icebeast, hank, frost, chac, ihadfg, etc. in either IM, skype or whatever.
 
Eh I should have tried to scheme but one isn't verizon and three require big data plans, trying to get this one that only needs a 10 dollar data plan though, I could swing that for a few months.

I used to like discussing gaming in here because everywhere else it's taken so goddamn seriously. I play a lot of games, but for some reason I just don't get why whenever I try to have a discussion about them it has to be "serious business." One of the many reasons I don't like Gaf. Back in the day you used to be able to get that laid back game discussion here. You still do a little bit with you, Hank, and a couple others but mostly it's just icebeast or JSP posting stupid pictures. I did the same thing to a certain extent with the videos, but that was mainly to annoy the people who gave me shit after posting the first one.

I'm not saying I hate having a good time. One of my favorite GGT memories is when we started making each thread title about someone's mom, but it just seems like the thread has devolved into a bunch of posts about random shit that has nothing to do with gaming or anything even remotely funny. Kind of makes me sad since back in the day when the mods were trying to shut this thread down when we got into it with OTT on the grounds that this was nothing more than another OTT, but with different people, we fought to prove it wasn't and it seems to have turned into exactly that.

Just my opinion anyway. I do actually like talking to a small number of you, and if you do have IM chats and things where you discuss stuff feel free to invite me.
 
All this talk about what the GGT used to be and what it is now isn't fucking helping the current situation.

Which I'm not even sure what it is anymore. Such is the way of the GGT.

I think my favorite GGT memories include:

-The LinkinPrime massacre
-The titles becoming so disgusting every other one got us yelled at
-MVC3 nights when it first came out
-Any time the thread just went completely off the goddamn rails
-Writing a blog about TMK while on skype and breaking the CAG blog page

Well, I'm not saying that is has to be as serious as GAF takes games, because they take it to a completely differently level. It's just that there's rarely any laid back game discussion now, like you pointed out. When I say "real talk," I'm basically saying that I'm not trying to be sarcastic or act in a sarcastic manner. Yes, when we do get together and talk, we still joke around, but actually speak our opinion about something.

We've really only done IRC chats for E3, everything else takes place in skype when there's multiple people involved.
