GGT 165 overdosed on weeds
Wow, Asura's Wrath looks utterly terrible now that more gameplay from the demo is available. Technical problems like tearing and just uninspired gameplay. And I was hoping for something good, because I kind of liked the character designs. :(

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDr9wyhR7wQ
It doesn't look completely awful.... Not what I was hoping for, though. :(

I love the character designs, too.
Brawlers UMvC3 pack today. Almost worth $4 for Spencer's alt alone... but since I don't play any of the characters in there (except occasionally trying out IF) and don't like any of the 4 alts besides spencer's, it'll have to wait until the bundle pack.

I like the original MvC3 alt pack better than I thought I would -- totally worth it on sale last week -- I like Chris's and Dante's more than I thought I would and Cap and Ryu's lived up to my expectations. The alt is definitely the default choice for me on Ryu and Cap and maybe even Chris... and Dante's is one of my preferred for him as well, but not hands down my default pick.
I want to get it for Spencer and Shulk, but I think I'll wait on the bundle since I don't use either of them really.

The original alt pack was my second favorite. I loved the Iron Patriot and Dante alts. They're totes boss. I like Cap's, but I still prefer AoX, Punisher, and Bucky Cap.
So this Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition... From the sound of it I assume its just the extras and people that have it can play people with the regular MK. I sure hope I'm right and don't end up buying another version of MK.
It's just all the DLC packaged with the disc.
It's not like it's UMvC3 or something.

--

At one point people were thinking Asura's Wrath looked kind of like a spiritual successor to godhand -- I was hoping it would be something in the realm of a DMC game so I could forget about the travesty that is DmC. It looks like it's just a giant QTE machine on loop with a couple strange sections of "use the reticle to aim, we're pretending we're some sort of shooter". :\

People in the GAF thread said that the demo was just two of the boss fights and it wasn't representative of the other main portion of gameplay... so I guess maybe there's hope, but it doesn't look good from where I'm standing. Speaking of which, unless the person's capture card/software was trash, there was an unnerving amount of tearing for a game that's releasing at the end of February (I think).

Hmm, you're right, upon further inspection AT&T decided not to go the fiber route that verizon did. Damned shame.

EDIT: Wait, according to their site, it does. Wtf?!

I don't really have any need for super high speed internet as I seldom download any big files. Exception would be Netflix streams, but I canceled that due to lack of time and just have disc rentals currently.

My internet is provided by a local outfit and funded by condo fees. Not sure what the speed caps are supposed to be but speedtest.net usually shows it around 9-11 down and 8-9 up.

Yeah, I really loved DA2. The story pales in comparison to the first one for sure. But other than that I liked the streamlined gameplay (less hassling with armor and inventory etc.), tweaks made to combat and introducing the Mass Effect style dialogue system.

The break down for DotA and their clones.

DotA the OG game that was a trigger map used in Warcraft 3. First made by Guinsoo, later controlled by IceFrog (the better map builder).

LoL the clone made Riot Games. Guinsoo (the first guy to make a DotA map) and the guy from dota-allstars website were the ones behind this game. Sadly enough, their development skills were not very good in the beginning. Still looks like it is a fisher price game

HoN is the game done by S2. Made by "fans" of DotA and created a closer feel to DotA than LoL did. Robust ranking system, but graphically was no better than DotA, which begged to wonder why you would not play the OG game.

DotA 2, is being developed by Valve's internal team. Looks, names, controls and characters are taken from DotA. Valve also has IceFrog on this team, IceFrog is the shit, so this game will be the shit.

fuck LoL and HoN, both those games are FTP so More Money= Better options. Valve is going to support the hell out of DotA 2 and more than likely they will keep the game reasonably priced. For a beta, this game is complete. Everything works, there are ways you can watch matches live (great for tournaments), you can replay games and see what your stats are (XP/Min and the such).

DotA 2 will consume me. And all players from each game are dicks, just the name of the game. But so far DotA 2 has been very welcoming :D

To the best of my knowledge, getting real fiber to your home is only available at a premium. I have Verizon FiOS. Speeds are really awesome, honestly. But I know that the cabling to my router at least is copper (it's a coaxial cable). It is possible that the fiber is wired to my house, though, and the copper is just what carries the connection to my router. Multiple people on my block have Verizon FiOS. Best quality TV service, too.
According to speedtest, I get 25/5. So yeah, it's obviously limited. I know that you can pay for higher speeds too. (Which really just translates to a change in color in the optics, assuming the fiber is wired to my house.)

And Refused on Friday! :D
My friends and I are seriously considering a trip to Cali if those are gonna be the only dates for Refused in the US. Though I really hope not. I have a good feeling that At the Drive-In's reunion will be a bit more extended than Refused's, based on Refused's statement about the whole thing. I have a good feeling that ATDI is back together because The Mars Volta ran out of ideas. That, and the reception of their latest album by fans wasn't too great. Too much hipster-artsy wankery, in my opinion. I really love The Mars Volta, I just want At the Drive-In back.

My problem with Coachella is that on each day, there's a few really fucking awesome bands I'd like to see, but they're far too spread out. Like, I'd love to see Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Bon Iver, the Shins, At the Drive-In, Refused, We Were Promised Jetpacks and Manchester Orchestra. And there are a few I'd see just for the novelty, but beyond that, I'm not extremely excited for anyone else.

No question there, though in the same vein, the overarching story in ME1 is better than ME2. Gameplay between the two, I'd prefer DA2 a little more than DA1, same goes for ME2 over ME1. I hope that the third iteration of each game gets the right balance of the two. ME3 does seem like it has the right amounts of both, though obviously, we'll see in two months.

UVerse has fiber on the backend and at the local distribution node/DSLAM, copper out from there to your house.

With fiber up to your house, they can run faster speeds than you can when it's hybrid fiber/copper to your house. Fiber all the way is also much more expensive because you have to redo everything up to your house.

I hope that AT&T will do faster than 24/3, though if not, it's certainly fast enough for me. I just have to spend some time making sure everything that is on my entertainment stand is talking at the right speeds to make sure to use all of the bandwidth, which is probably going to require upgrading to 500Mbps POE adapters and a GigE switch, to make sure my HTPC can talk to the rest of the network at GigE speeds for streaming.

The combat was passable in Dragon Age II, even though it had some of the same problems (and new ones) that Origins had. On hard difficulties it was weird just sitting there hacking away at enemies and doing no damage with your melee, and on easier difficulties the game was literally about as deep as Dynasty Warriors -- I guess I enjoyed having the option to switch between the two, especially when the game forgot to to add new types of enemies. Still, the different approaches you could take with all the skill trees made it worthwhile.

The quests weren't hugely entertaining from a dialogue perspective, though I guess it was amusing seeing how often the game gave you the option to kill people. So you have a game where the side quests are more about choosing to be nasty or nice, and then the main quest line has much more entertaining material, but the choices have little to no impact. I can still recall the sub-plots of Origins to this day, and having finished DA2 a month ago, I can't really recall all those little sidequests I did for just a few coin.

The characters were the saving grace here. The quantity of random party banter was much improved, and I enjoyed half the cast a great deal which is more than I can say of Origins.

A few hours into the game I thought it was great, but I'l have to conform to the critical norm here and say it was more of a low-budget, but fun diversion from what could of been a much more polished game. I can't get over how lazy a lot of aspects were handled.

My apologies; should have been clearer.

DAO is pretty generic fantasy, but the end-game flows well even if the game wasn't really built for that sort of thing, and the ending gives very good closure.

DA2 kinda ignores everything that happened in DAO, and the ending is Knights of the Old Republic 2/Fallout 3-before-Broken Steel/Neverwinter Nights 2-before-Mask of the Betrayer level godawful.

1) Can only record two SD and two HD streams at once. Even if I'd only be recording two HD streams, the third stream will always be SD no matter what. No thanks.
2) Can't work with a Tivo because it's IPTV. FIOS will work with a Tivo because it supports CableCards. UVerse won't.

So, I'm stuck with Charter unless I tell them to fuck it, and decide to go OTA + Amazon Prime + Hulu Plus (+ iTunes).
Sounds pretty tight. Both would smoke my internet right now. Friend has Comcast and gets 35/3.5, makes me jealous, even though it's Comcast.
Just a matter of money for bandwidth. ;)

It's a joke since I take forever on every game I play. I spent like 43 hours on a playthrough of Human Revolution, for example.
As did I with ME1 + DLC (55-57 hours per playthrough, x2), ME2 + DLC (same timeframe per playthrough, x2) and DA: O + Awakening + DLC (60-something hours on playthrough), plus DA2 (40-something, I think, have to check that).

Not a bad price at all, I'd get that if I could. Also heard Charter sucks a fat dick.
They do on numerous levels, though I only give them money because there aren't other options for me.

AT&T is huge in Chicago as well. I always get to see their commercials on the local Chicago channels. They also have CLEAR 4G there, so I always see commercials for that too. It's like being taunted with shit I can't get all the time. -__-
Time to move?

That's something I'd love to have. I'd just get an apartment and some roommates and have everyone split it. Would be totally boss.
Only way I can see rationalizing that amount of bandwidth is to split it across multiple peoples' expenses.

Yes, that's also a great point. I'm the only bandwidth hog in this podunk corner of the world, since I'm probably the only one in this podunk farming town that knows what a torrent is.
That's how it is for the next five minutes, at least.

Indeed. His cable bill is like $130 a month, internet is like $60 of that. Expensive.

I spent like 35 hours on ME1 the first time through, haven't finished ME2 yet. I put just over 100 hours in on Fallout 3 with my two playthroughs, 2nd one was all of the DLC except for one, can't remember which I didn't do.

Don't you love monopolies?
Time to move?
Definitely don't want to move into Chicago, as it's a gigantic cesspool when you're in its blackened heart, and just mildly cancerous when you're in the suburbs.

Plus everything is fucking expensive as hell there.

That's exactly it. I always wonder how bad my friends and I could annihilate Comcast's 250 GB cap if we all lived in the same house.
That's how it is for the next five minutes, at least.
I'm sure somebody's kid in this podunk town of 500 knows what a torrent is.

I know I'm the best 3rd Strike player in town though.
Probably the only one.

It's awesome regardless. Last year I was hyped for only a few bands and then I came out loving even more of them. Just go and relax and maybe find some something new you'll like.
I got the biggest boner when I heard of this.

They simulcast this on the yootubes, right?
Because this year there will be two weekends, I believe they will wait until the second weekend to release any official youtube videos.
I like how the smaller the names get, the more interest I lose. That was nice of them to plan it like that.
Am I hipster that majority of what I want to go to is all small font?

BTW is nobody hyped for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog? Dr. Dre is gonna wreck fools with his mic drops and steroid induced arms.

Oh. Case closed.

uraizen: oh jesus christ
uraizen: FFXIII-2 demo on PSN, I know what people are going to try and get me to play
HankmeDewme: Go play it.
uraizen: No
uraizen: it wouldn't even be amusing to me to get pissed off at the fact such a game exists

uraizen: you tricked me into playing the DA2 demo
uraizen: not again, hankypanky

This saves me the trouble of saying "No" several times.

Get FF13-2 people, there is dress up for your characters and pets!

WOOOOO! 2-0 thus far on DotA 2. Played some Omniknight and went 3/3/7. Main role is to heal and be a support class, well I really fucked that up early game since there was an Anti-Mage on the other team (basically a counter to me). But once I got my slows and faster walk speeds going, the other team had nothing on us.

Still slacking the in the early game leveling, but I can get my coin and XP up mid game, but I need work on my early game.

People don't care about us or our opinions on a scale that large. I certainly know I don't care about other's opinions enough to listen to a podcast of them.
