Nobody in here is going to master 3s, ever.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Happy B-Day, Joel.

Alright, guys, so, I'm looking for a new TV since I'm fairly certain my current one is going to get a power tool taken to it. So I'm looking for a TV based on the following criteria:

1) I want zero input lag.
2) I want the rocky horror picture show DVD to look like a blu-ray.
3) I want it to have state of the art LCD speakers.
4) I don't want it to be an Olevia.
5) I want it to be 37 inches minimum.
6) I want it to be 1080p.
7) I want to be able to brag about it.
8) I don't have a chac-like budget.
9) I don't want it to be able to display any RPG.
10) I must be able to continue watching it when I spill my mountain dew on the floor.
Happy Birthday Joel. May your day be filled with record-beating amounts of masturbation.
Thanks, Joshy! Haven't actually had time to beat it today, been busy socializing and stuff!

I'm gettin' on that shit tonight, though.
You guys haven't mastered 3s yet, let's slow down here.
I'll never master 3S.
Happy afterbirth Captain Jo-el.
Thanks, dawg!
Happy birthday, Joella! ^__^

I heard Wamprat wants you to blow out his candle after he frosts your cake.
Thanks, Hank! Loveee you!

I'm glad Wamprat knows the importance of giving on special days.
It displayed Pokemon Pinball just fine. My Over The Top DVD looked pretty pristine on it.
I dunno, I'm still skeptical, I mean... this isn't just any DVD, y'know? How about the speakers? Are they state of the art LCD speakers? I don't want any cheap ass shit, I'm a total audiophile.
A TV won't make a DVD look like a BR. No TV has "zero lag" either. :p
You're a liar, because this one friend, whose dad works for LG, said they make TVs with zero lag. They also have magic upscaler technology that makes all DVDs look like BDs.

I don't lie. There's TVs with minimal lag though.

You can upscale a DVD, but it will never make an older movie like Rocky Horror look like a BR. Heck, even a BR won't necessarily make an older movie look remarkably better. Depends on the source material and encoding process.

Panasonic G20/25 are supposedly great 1080p TVs for just around $1K.

Dude, it's a joke, I really do need a new TV, but c'mon. Look at my criteria, gunm. Zero lag? DVDs that look like BDs? State of the art LCD speakers? A display the discriminates based on game titles? C'mon, son.
I am tryin' ta help bro. Wat u no liek Panny TVz? :p
It's too rate, son. I do, but I don't have $1000 for a TV. More like ~$600 and would prefer something that doesn't act like a heater.
I liked the LG because it had some nice tweaking options, like individual RGB color tweaking.
My TV has that, it was nice enough to tweak itself two nights ago, too. Remember?
Oh, audiophile you say? Then I'd suggest you go get the most expensive Logitech speakers you can afford and run your TV to them.
I already have my pimp $30 best buy logitech speakers ready to go.
I'm getting Skullgirls even though I'll probably almost never play it. Just gotta support that kind of project.
Since you'd be getting it on 360, none of us would play with you either. :(
So when is Chac gonna just show back up like he's been here all along?
Awww, you lonely?

The TV I got for $800 is is pretty nice. I'd recommend it at this point.

Happy birthday, Joel.

Yeah, since you'll be buying it for all of us on PC.

Oh boy, here we go.

1) I want zero input lag.
You're not getting zero input lag, no matter how much you want it. Minimal input lag, that's doable, and finding out how much input lag it has would probably require a trip to www.avsforum.com to find out for sure. Input lag isn't something likely found out on "normal" reviews. The tech-heads at AVSForum normally check for that.
2) I want the rocky horror picture show DVD to look like a blu-ray.
The scaler in the TV shouldn't make much difference, as the scaler in your playback device (PC, BD player, etc.) should be better than the scaler in the TV.
3) I want it to have state of the art LCD speakers.
TV speakers range from serious suckage to bearable suckage. Pony up for a receiver + 2.1 speakers at some point and join the rest of us in the modern age.
4) I don't want it to be an Olevia.
Not an issue, since they're a dead brand, though I have an Olevia going into its fifth year of life and looking pretty good.
5) I want it to be 37 inches minimum.
How far away will you be sitting from it? That'll drive how big it should be.
6) I want it to be 1080p.
Shouldn't be much problem, as I can't see anyone buying a 37" or bigger TV and not getting 1080P these days.
7) I want to be able to brag about it.
Something else e-penis like to toss around?
8) I don't have a chac-like budget.
It's always a balance between finances and features, something will have to give unless you have unlimited money.
9) I don't want it to be able to display any RPG.
Easy enough.
10) I must be able to continue watching it when I spill my mountain dew on the floor.
Don't mount it on the floor and it won't be an issue.

In the budget scenario you're working from between $600 - $1K, there's lots of options. Just depends on how much you want to spend. Plus, there's things to be had in the Super Bowl buying season, as well as the 2012 stuff coming out and the 2011 stuff starting to wind down.

And for those curious, this is the set I have all my gaming stuff, BD/HD-DVD and HTPC stuff connected to:

http://www.amazon.com/LG-INFINIA-55LE8500-Internet-Applications/dp/B0039RRBQC/

And it's a great TV, without question. Replacing it when it dies under warranty will likely to make me cry.

Well, some of that list was a joke like the zero input lag, quality speakers, game genre discrimination, etc. Anyway, yeah, my budget is about $600 at the moment. My TV is just getting bad enough for me to want to put a hammer through it. The ones that were serious was basically my sub-chac budget, 37 inch minimum, low input lag, 1080p minimum, etc.

Also, jesus christ, that TV looks like a beast.

EDIT: I think this is the one I was looking at for a while - http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIE...SBNE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1327358600&sr=8-3

Some TVs have some ridiculous amounts of it. The AVSForum.com folks tend to test for that and would know about it better than I would.

For $600, you should be able to find multiple 1080p 37" (or 40", as some vendors don't do 37") TVs with low input lag and 1080p. Sharp TVs tend to have low input lag in GAME mode, so you may want to look at one of them.

That LG TV I have is full-LED backlit, so it has close-to-plasma black levels, it's bright and have some of the best picture I've seen on a TV.

It is a beast.

Yeah, it's a bitch of a topic, because sometimes you only find the measured input lag for older models or different sized models. Which aren't necessarily a guarantee that the one you're looking at will be any different, even when it comes to size.

This one has been tested to have 16ms of lag on game mode:

http://www.amazon.com/LG-32LK450-32...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327366807&sr=1-1

But will the 37 inch one be any different? Could be, I know Olevia used different panels when making the jump from 32 inch to 37 inch in the same series.

Thanks, Panzer!

In my experience, they're douchebags because they think they're smart. I fucking love history and I fucking hate everyone else in my classes.

Which one? Because the original is pretty much unplaywrongable.

Sony is being smart with that new RE movie trailer. They already know that whoever is going to watch it will watch it so they turned it into a product ad instead.

Pretty sneaky sis.
