GGT #19 is full of Wii-Haters :( :( :(
I wish they'd put Dante and/or Nero in the game.
They have to. if they don't, they're dead to me.

You've sold me on Chaos Rings.

enjoy! it's like an evolved PS1 rpg.

and it goes without saying that it's better than every single wii game in existence. Especially Mario Galaxy.

edit: turns out a playthrough of the game is 8 hours long, but there's new game+ and 3 other teams to play as. Seems very well worth the money now.

I can't believe I am loving monster hunter tri. So far so good anyway, hope I continue to enjoy it. Was never a huge fan of Demon's Souls, FF11, or Phantasy Star Online, but this feels like a mix between them all, and it flows pretty good.

Also, I am LOVING the classic controller pro. It feels great.
I completely agree with this. I would take the 360 or PS3 over the Wii any day if I were to own only one console. But if I already owned a PS3 or 360, and was buying a second console, the Wii certainly would have a fair shot at being that console.

When TMK said he prefers the Wii exclusives over the 360 exclusives, he wasn't counting games that are also on PS3 as 360 exclusives.
Bingo, that's basically what I did there. PS3 and 360 don't really have many exclusives, around 90% of their games are multi-platform. However, very few of the good games are multi, most are exclusive. That's pretty much the way I look at it. While PS3 and 360 might overall have more games I want in a year, Wii might win in exclusives because that's what most Wii games are.

XBLA/PSN/Wii Ware are a different story when it comes to exclusives.

Could I own just a Wii though? No, I need at least a PS3 or 360 around, but Wii is a nice secondary console.

What the fuck? Embargo wasn't supposed to be up til 11am EST.
:runs to check it out:

What's the best place to buy a PS3 Slim TODAY, GGT?
BestBuy, WalMart, Target, FYE, GameStop, etc.
I'm probably leaning towards BestBuy because of Reward Zone (plus they probably offer the best replacement plan?).

MvC3 trailer looks like the early SF4 trailers. Not a bad thing if it winds up being as good or better. I didn't expect to see anything official about the game until e3 at the very earliest.

I've been seeing them at Target mostly Frost, but try Best Buy first so you can get the reward zone goodness - not sure if consoles count towards the Gamer's Club thing, but worth a shot.

Best Buy would more than likely offer a better extended warranty, no? Does Target even do those?

Looks like BB has a 250gb in stock. Is double the storage worth the extra $50? :|

Edit: $80 for a 2 year warranty? WHAT THE fuck, BEST BUY?

I think they have have cards for 2 year warranties near the electronics, pretty sure Best Buy has them up to 4 years but don't know the specific terms of either one.

I would too.
Damn these consoles.

Hour and a half long conference call..... working from home so it's eating my minutes.

were you expecting a cheaper warranty? they're out $220 if your system breaks. It's a gamble for both of you :)

I want to play Chaos Rings all day. really surprised how good it is. stupid finals.

It's essentially $80 for an extra year on your warranty, if it runs concurrently with the sony warranty...

Dallow, thanks for the heads up on wal-mart -- looks to be $15 a year for 3 years AFTER the product warranty is up. I'm going to check there first.

Yeah. I only knew because a friend had his system replaced after 1.5 years because of ylod.

He even ghetto fixed it with a box and blow dryer to deactivate and caused external damage (melted corners) and they swapped it no problem.

Frost, stay away from Target, they have the shittiest return policies ever. We had to exchange our Slim out last year, and it was easy breezy over at Best Buy.

On another note, Lego Harry Potter Collector's Edition was announced today.

Thanks -- I'm think I'm going to be looking at walmart first, probably, since the reviews on their extended warranty seem very great and it's cheap as hell -- I know best buy is okay, but I'm not sure about the pricing -- it looked like it was $80 for "2 year Geek Squad service"... but that was online too, so BB.com might've been effing up.

BTW, what's your other platinum in? Didn't you say you had two or so in the last week? One is obviously Sonic's UGC, but looking at your trophies, I couldn't find the other. [Good job on getting Yatta, that's the only one I didn't have the patience for on the 360 version.]

Thanks! I think I just got lucky with Yatta, the E-Swat one was waay harder for me lol. My other platinum is for Uncharted 2, and now I'm working on the GoW collection before moving on to GoW3 and finishing FFXIII.

I think Zew mentioned it before, but I'll be goddamned if Wesker and/or Viewtiful Joe don't show up in MvC3.

EDIT: Capcom silhouettes. omgomgomg, I think that's Gene from God Hand.

Under a spoiler due to size. It might just be me, but I think I see Wesker and Frank West in the far right silhouettes.
Or Dante and Frank West.

A whole year to wait......
This. That same silhoutte is behind the Capcom sign, and it looks more like Dante to me.

Where? Most people's conjecture hasn't mentioned either of those two for the capcom silhouettes. Dante is supposedly the one on the right... though I'm going to be mighty pissed if they don't include Nero. (I think the Devil Arm would provide much better special moveset to Dante's style switching...)

Speaking of God Hand, I put that in this morning and tried the first level for a few minutes, to check the PS2 compatibility on my now sold 60gb PS3 fat. I got in the saloon and the demon thing fucked me up... it didn't help that the tutorial bits don't really explain things well... seems like a neat game though.

To me, the silhouette on the right looks more like Gene than Dante, but it's hard to tell for sure.

Edit: Looking at it again, it could be Wesker as well.
I'll admit that I'm not a huge MvC2 fan (mostly because of too much spamming), but if they balance a little better like TVC on Wii, I'll be all over it.
There are a bunch of infinites and hundred percent combos in TvC as well. Just the nature of the game.

The balance "issues" in MvC2 actually create pretty compelling top-tier matches. Of course the character set seen in these matches is smaller (~10 usable characters) but it creates some pretty bad-ass matches.

Example...

Stop feeding the trolls, boys.
Nero and Dante would be stupid to not have.
After Viewtiful Joe showed up in TvC, he should be along as well.
Hard to say though..

I'm a bit disappointed that it's 3D based -- but the models are already better than SF4 with it's gorilla roids syndrome. I just hope they end up adding some awesome characters (Talbain, Demitri, Dante, Nero, Deadpool, MoonKnight, maybe some other SF characters like Juri/C. Viper/Cammy) and keep others that I have a preference for (Strider, Ken, Magneto, Jin, Cable, etc.).

Is there anything weird about doing data transfer for little big planet stuff? I have a bunch of DLC and some save games from when I owned it and was planning on picking up GOTY when I can find it for super duper cheap... this playstation support guide indicates something about LBP:

Back up your profile information and stages you created in LittleBigPlanet to your saved game. You can then use the data that was backed up when playing LittleBigPlanet on the destination PS3 system.

Why does it mention that specifically?

Beat Heavy Rain. I couldn't put it down. I had to see how it all ended. Now I'm gonna have to try and get some of the other endings ( I got the best one off the bat).

What happened in your ending? There are so many variations that there isn't one definitive "best" ending.

In mine for instance, Ethan didn't do the fourth trial, but I figured out where Shaun was anyway and he made it there. Jayden also figured out where Shaun was and ended up killing Scott. Madison also made it there and walked out with Shaun and Ethan. In the epilogues, Madison wrote a book, Ethan and Shaun moved into a new house, Lauren spit on Scott's grave, and Jayden was on a talk show. Having gotten all the other endings afterward, I have to say the one I got was my favorite.

I absolutely loved Heavy Rain. Could be my favorite game all year, just because it was so different and interesting. It was very addicting, because I had a hard time putting it down as I played it.

Mine was the same as yours except
I didn't do the fourth or fifth trial. Found Shaun. Madison, Ethan, and Shaun get a new place together. Everything else is the same as yours. I think I like mine a little better since it ends up with Madison, Shaun, and Ethan together as a new family.

The reason Ethan didn't end up with Madison in mine was because I rejected her kiss in the hotel room. I just felt like that relationship was out of place and forced at that point in the game, but I can see why other people would prefer them to be together.
transfer utility doesn't move passwords? ffs, dallow, i'm coming for you. :bomb:
I don't recall mine moving over either when I did it to my slim PS3 (unlike when I upgraded my 20GB PS3 HDD where everything moved over).

My computer crapped out on me. The damn thing's almost 7 years old and has been giving me problems on and off for the last year so I'm not really surprised. I'm half-way thru with building my new rig, and hope to be finished this weekend, so that's been consuming most of my free time lately.

The only gaming I've had time to do is a little bit of SMT: Strange Journey. I'm about half-way, taking the Chaos route just because I usually almost always do good or neutral and wanted to mix it up for once and be bad.

I also got the same ending as you guys. When I got it, I couldn't put it down either. I generally don't like playing games before work, but that was one of the only games I played nonstop.

I'm debating whether I keep my preorder for Nier. I'm getting a decent deal on Amazon, $55.99 with $10 credit. While I want the game, I rather have Nier Replicant but its Japan only. Not sure what I'll do, but I'll probably still buy. Part of me rather save the money.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. I really wanted the game when it was originally announced, but after watching more gameplay videos I think I'm going to have to pass. It's not getting much hype, so I have a feeling the price will drop pretty fast.

Btw, all you PS3 owners, add me on PSN, I need more CAG friends =)
