Once you accept DmC is something completely different and in no way related to Devil May Cry it's not so bad.
I have accepted that I'm just worried we'll never see DMC 5. :(

Capcom... killing off old franchises one at a time.

Well mega man's 25th anniversary is this December we'll see if capcom plans any games for it.

Mario 3D Land wants me to go back through levels I've already beaten and collect star coin things to continue.

That game is now garbage.

Mega Man is already dead.

Why don't you collect as you go? Seems you had a similar problem with codex pages in AC2 if I remember correctly.

Because the games don't tell me I'm supposed to until I get to the point where I need them.

Besides, crap like that adds nothing to a game. It's just an awful way to make people think a game is longer than it really is.

This, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's cuz DMC was a terrible franchise.

The first game was a Resident Evil game.

The second game doesn't even exist, according to them.

Yeah, the third game was great but the fourth game was half a game that was copied and pasted.

It's no surprise that Capcom handed it away.

Depends.

The codex pages were actually intriguing -- it's like the glyph/orb pieces -- what do they mean/what do I get for getting them... it's not like the feathers that have no intrigue and end up as nothing more than a "you get a weapon and a scarf". Woo.
I can understand the stars -- though if the game makes it apparent early that you should be collecting them (see Super Mario 64), you should probably be trying to find/get them as you go along.

And depending on the device, it can add to the game. The AC2 stuff adds story (which Uraizen doesn't care about, we know). I haven't played Super Mario Land 3D, but in games like that, the location of the stars usually add challenge and or difficulty to the game, which is also good. However, if SML3D decided to just randomly say "you haven't collected enough stars and now you can't proceed" with no warning, then I'll agree with you.

The 4th game is my absolute favorite. Yes you fight the same bosses in the same maps. Yes it's a cop out. But in this case, I'm going to pull a uraizen: the game is about gameplay. The second half of the game is entirely different than the first gameplay wise. Nero was a new/fresh take on the series combat (and my personal favorite), while dante played a lot like DMC3 Dante and was vastly more complex.
... that's vergil? Are they trying to make Dante look good in comparison? If so, then it's working.
Indeed.

I predict an Unreal 3 based third person shooter.

Would be amazing.

Exactly how I see it. People just like to hate on it. Those same people probably spent hours running around Blood Gulch in Halo MP too. OMG SAME LEVEL MEANS IT'S BAD!!

DMC4 is like ORC.

Except ORC only had the audacity to do one level twice and at least filled it with different enemies and a different boss battle. Plus, in ORC you have a choice of 6 different characters. That's pretty fresh.

ORC > DMC4
Depends.

All I can say is make that shit optional. Always. Even if whatever is interesting to collect, it should be optional. Let those who choose to collect get a secret item/level/whatever. Don't make others collect it just to continue with the game so that you can try to deceive others into thinking your game is longer than it is.

Games should at least let me know I'll have to collect junk to progress in the game so I can not waste my time playing the game to begin with.

I actually really enjoyed finding the star coins in 3d land.

Hell yeah. I fucking hate that shit. It's right up there with escort missions, water levels, and stealth missions in a non-stealth game. It's not fun and I don't understand why developers keep using them.

It guarantees higher ratings because critics will say,

"Great replay value." (grinding, collection)

"Interesting variety between missions." (vehicle, escort, underwater)

As long has you have certain features, you will get acclaim for them. It's why online is so often just thrown in these days.
I watch Bleach.
Uraizen used to.
Yeah, so there's that.
It was good until after like... 60 episodes, then it became crap.

Oh games "journalism", what don't you ruin?
Is it weird Outland bored me?
It was weird boredom for me. It wasn't tedious, but it wasn't really fun either. I got hyped in the beginning, but as I progressed, everything felt the same. The majority of the environment got repetitive for me...
So let's see, Dark Souls has glitched out on me about 10+ times, frozen on me approximately 5 times within the last two days, and runs at 20 fps on average getting into the single digit fps area at times. Yeah, I think I'm done with this game, what the fuck happened? Don't get me wrong, Demon's Souls ran like shit, too, but it was never this bad. Thanks to the shitty fps the controls feel less responsive, good lord. If it weren't for all this the game would be much better.

EDIT: No, I'm not talking about just Blightown, but that was definitely the worst offender in terms of performance.
PC version?

360 version for me only ran like ass in two places: Blightown and New londo ruins. There's a ladder you can kick down in upper New Londo, and climing up that when revisiting the area most of the time will make the game freeze for a couple seconds, then chug like molasses until you cross the bridge.

That's just wrong icebizzle, they're both guys! That goes against so many fundamentals of my Christian religion!

Oh, also the incest, I guess.

Hey, I liked the stealth part in Wind Waker at least...

A couple years ago, I printed out about 30 pages of a porn-lolcat collage at my school's library. Never have I felt more nervous walking to a printer.

It was for a Halloween costume, by the way. I was The Internet.

Once I realized that there were no consequences, I realized the show was crap.

That, and the many "We interrupt your ongoing plot for a plot that is even more stupid." interruptions.
