Does it matter if they were on the disc or not? Capcom made those characters in the beginning with the intention of charging from them.
Yes.

Yes, it does matter.

Jesus Christ.

Be...cause it's finished content cut from the game?

As for the second question: depends on the nature of the DLC, largely. Prothy the Prothean? No, that was bullshit.

Finished content that was never meant to be part of the retail release? And if it was never meant to be part of the retail release how was it cut from the game?

Say they finished the game before it's release date, is a developer supposed to sit around doing nothing until their game is released before they start working on DLC?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA. A developer finish their game before release date? What is it opposite day?

Holy shit, what ever did companies do if they finished a game ahead of schedule before DLC?

Oh, shit! We finished our game! It's totally, completely, perfectly done for the first time in history, we have no other projects, and lack of time spent in pre-production isn't a thing in this industry.

I guess the only thing we can do is start working on our DLC characters ahead of time, and apparently they take, like, no fucking time at all because we can not only get them out by release, but by the time the game goes gold.

You've got me again, life.

And now I sound like one of those "Gaming is ruined! It was better back in the day when my GPU was made of two rocks banging together!" assholes. fuck.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA. A developer finish their game before release date? What is it opposite day?
Apparently reviewers already have RE6, so it happens sometimes. I somehow highly doubt a game isn't done until the night before it gets shipped to stores.

I can believe it gets down to the line with some games, or developers don't care and just plan to maybe do QA testing after release and maybe patch a completely glitchy and trash game (Darksiders II).

Not sure what to say to Crotch's temper tantrum post :whistle2:?

I'm just trying to say that anyone who complains about Capcoms DLC practices who has bought almost any DLC ever is a hypocrite. Lots of companies do it, Capcom just doesn't keep it as secret as they probably should to avoid the complaining. So I guess ignorance on the consumers part and deception on the developer/publishers part is the key.

A DLC character three months after the release of the game that you get for free if you pre-ordered it is the moral equivalent of on-disk DLC, I agree.

Hey guys, should I buy TTT2?

I agree with this. But it's kinda like a giant fuck you to the consumer to let them in on the secret.
In some cases, ignorance is bliss.
Like, I may drop a hot dog on the floor and put it back on the grill when there's no customers in the store. 5-second rule. No harm, no foul. If the customer sees me do it, though, that's a different story.

YES! fucking buy it already, man! We had some goddamn great games in it last night! And I need to introduce you to Team Rape!

"Free" is the key word. SF x T had a 100 KB unlock key for $20, holding stuff back to squeeze out more profits. All of the TTT2 stuff is free, at least. Just annoying because they want to push preorders. But everyone does it this generation.

fuck Gamestop.

1. Yes, get TTT2. It's the fighter of this generation.

2. Remind me to never get a hot dog from your 7-11. Or any gas station for that matter.

When a new 7-11 opened here they had cheap (under a dollar) hot dogs. I went there like...4 days in a row.

In retrospect that was probably
the best decision of my life

Unfortunately, getting the game in a bundle with a graphics card doesn't count as preordering it, so I'm going mechromancer-less.

I adore DLC and will buy anything.

Also, going to gloss up my TTT2 time tonight by customizing the soundtrack. Gonna be super dubstep and terrible club dancemixes for everything.

Developers do not set the QA time tables, unfortunately the suits on the publishing side do.

AAA title game rarely are completed on time due to their strict release days. Sure RE6 may very well be on disk as review copies, but I highly doubt the game is complete in any way. (this is not saying the product is not of quality standards)

Of course, but you don't need to repeat yourself :D
DLC is fine when it actually adds something for the price and isn't just a way to cash in on people that already bought your game, Capcom.
More like Cashcom. I wish I was their sales guy, I would make sure they would always be in the black with cosmetic Mega Man armor on all playable characters. Additional colors will cost extra.

I understand what you're saying, but nothing publishers have done has made me think they're being good about this except for maybe a couple examples. I'm going to go with cut content over extra content we'd never get. Just makes more financial sense for them to do that and that's all the likes of Capcom, EA, and Activision care about. You're deluding yourself otherwise.

If I don't clean out my bile ducts periodically my throat swells up and I have a hard time eating food.

I don't have a problem inherently with on-disc DLC. If a publisher were to develop extra content or cool additions alongside the core game that is intended to be released as DLC after the game comes out, then I don't have a problem with that. And I can see how that might be a good business strategy. However, most (or maybe all) of the time currently, on-disc DLC seems to be parts of the core game that were simply cut out to make extra money.

I never said they were being good about it nor do I think they are in any way, it was more just about the complainers, for the most part being hypocrites about the situation. Can't say if I was in their position I'd do it much differently though, it's about business and it's making them a lot of money. I like how people think there are companies that put the gamer/consumer as #1 though

I have no problem if a development team starts work on DLC before the game ships -- hell, while the final stages of QA are going on for the disc to go gold, they can totally develop new characters or modes or maps or something... if I like a game, having developers making additional content isn't a bad thing. The bad part is when it's a part of the main game and they just arbitrarily lock it away for 4 months for no real reason that's disclosed to the public. The ME content? I was pretty pissed off about that, just like I was about the SFxT stuff (and the RE5 stuff I didn't give a shit about). BBCS characters or MK9 characters? No problems whatsoever. They weren't just unlock keys. They were content that was refined and finished after the game went gold and were given to the public for purchase upon completion.

Also, I still can't decide if I want my 4 extra characters for TTT2 or if I want $20 now.
I don't care much myself. If I think it's worth my money I buy it, if not I don't.
That's what it should come down to. Needs to be less whining/complaining.

Yeah, but just because you have to download something instead of just an unlock key doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't completed before the game went gold. They could have just been holding onto the content.

Like with Borderlands 2 since it's coming out soon and has a season pass already. I wouldn't be surprised if some or all of the expansions that are part of it are already done and they're just sitting on them for release later.

While that may or may not be true, the one thing you do know is that if it was included in a production build and put on the pressed discs only to later be unlocked by a 100kb key that the content was QA'ed and finished. And thus it was Day 1 DLC that could've been included in the game, but the publisher/developer decided to get greedy and lock it away and charge a fee to access it beyond your initial purchase of the game.

If the content requires a large download when you buy it and download it, there's at least some chance that maybe the shit wasn't QA'ed entirely and had to go through several iterations of testing prior to being cleared for release. Add in certification times and stuff to get through MS or Sony and at least there's an outside chance that DLC that comes out a month or two after release had work done on it beyond the date the discs were pressed and shipped out to warehouses for distribution.

I have two problems with DLC this generation, personally -- but when it comes down to it, I follow the "is it worth it to me, okay, sure I'll buy it, even if I'm pissed off" approach. My single purchase isn't going to affect sales enough either way to change anything. With that said, my problems are: (1) Finished content that's locked away on the disc and then charged for. I bought the disc. I own the disc. That means I own the content on the disc. Companies don't sell me a record or CD or DVD/blu-ray and lock away content only to ask me for more money to access it. Want to watch the deleted scenes? Pay another $1 per scene or $5 for a pack of all deleted scenes and we'll give you the unlock key for it. That shit doesn't fly, at least not with me. There's a reason I haven't spent the $20 on the SFxT characters, even though I want Cody and Lars... (2) I have an issue where something I feel is clearly meant to be DLC is repackaged and sold as an entirely new release. This happens mostly with fighters, I think. BBCSE and UMvC3 being the biggest offenders, IMO. I know not everyone sees it this way, but I do; there's a reason I bought used copies of those games wherever I could.

Sure, if he gives me $20.

It's a trade off between "do I want these characters and the Snoop D-O-double-Gizzle stage or should I wait 3 months for them and take $20". If it was merely an extra, I'd give it to Mikey. But I feel like I should use it or have a reason NOT to use it ($20).

The only Borderlands 2 DLC that is almost done is Mechromancer chic, and she's free if you preorder or $10 if you don't. It comes out on Oct. 16th. Gearbox said Borderlands 2 went gold in July and they've been working on her since, originally she wasn't supposed to come out until Nov.

I imagine the first of the 4 DLC's from the season pass will come out sometime in Nov. or Dec. with the others coming out every 2 months or so after that just like it was for Borderlands 1. They're probably working on the first one now since work is finishing on the Mechromancer.

Does anybody know about how much the anime/soundtrack set from the PS3 SF 4 CE (Blu-Ray anime and CD soundtrack) would be worth? I'd even include the Ryu figure from it also. Not going to need it since I have the 25th Anniversary set and figured it would be worth some money, but it hasn't sold on EBay recently so I have no idea where to set the price at.
