Final Fantasy XIII (including its sequels) and the plague that is long development cycles.

The Japanese pioneered the conditional love that gamers give to "franchise" titles (see Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy), but they are slacking in money making department of gaming despite being well known brand names.

So what is their solution? To pump out three FF13 games.

Yeah, even as a big fan of XIII I really dislike Square's choice of going the spin off route for the entire generation. Seems they are cashing in while working on tech for the next round of platforms. PS3 fucked up a lot of developers' routines I think.

The first FF13 game was enjoyable. I spent like 120 hours in that game, despite only really liking Fang as a character and having no clue what really happened in the story. The battle system was that good. I'll get back to you on FF13-2 when I play it, probably over my winter vacation. :cool:

Resident Evil 5 is a good example of Japan's racism. A more accurate title would've been Resident Evil: Minority Extermination. People got mad that you only shoot Africans (even though you're in Africa), so they added all kinds of Mexicans and Latino looking dudes to shoot in the face. Then it was all good in the hood. It's great.
 
Killer 7 also has a bit where you headbutt a speeding bullet.

Damn was that ever a fun game that sometimes wasn't fun at all yet was still fun.

Oh man, Episode 1 of the Walking Dead game was titz.

Sure the choices are pretty obvious, but the way it played out just shows how terrible it would to live out a zombie apocalypse. Gotta play it the right way too, lights off, headphones on and no UI hints.

Got back to Borderlands 2 last night. True Vault Hunter mode isn't that bad with friends. Knocked out the first 5 or so story missions and several side quests. Got some decent guns from the golden chest, had 14 keys from twitter/facebook codes Gearbox sent out the past couple of weekends and used 5 of them.

Skip ZoE1. It is utter trash when there is ZoE2.

Also the demo for MGR is really short, but it is freaking dope. There are a lot of controls that the game doesn't tell you about, so play around and think Bayonetta.

I've been saying that about ZOE1 for ages. I even finished it on the hardest difficulty just to see if the very unsatisfying ending would change. A big fat fucking "NOPE!!" on that one.

ZOE2 is excellent, but I want an HD version that's 60 FPS, and neither of these are that. Boo.

Also, if anyone buys Okami HD, please tell me if they added an option for turning off the Charlie Brown/Chibi Robo voices. I'll buy it instantly if someone confirms that was added, but I don't think it's likely.

I don't want to replace it. I want to turn that fucking shit off. It's annoying as hell to listen to for 5 minutes while you try to read the text, not to mention the game is 40+ hours long if you do everything and read all the dialogue! It was annoying in Chibi Robo and even more annoying in Okami. :wall:

I just watched a clip of someone playing Okami on PS2 and the dialogue FX made me want to pitch my laptop into my television. :rofl:

MGR is dope as fuck. It's not too hard either, so people who normally don't play action games can probably enjoy it, too. Just acquiring one cyborg spine refills all your health, lol.
