GGT 236: Michael Biehn appreciation thread

The more I play it, the more P4A is actually alright.

It doesn't make me want to run off and just play BlazBlue anymore.
Or I could just get more tables in Zen Pinball 2. Decisions decisions...
Do this.

Wat. Lies.

Nah, I like SWTOR, but it would be a lot better if it wasn't an MMO. I'm done with those already.
Guys, Neverwinter sucks and SWTOR is better.

This was not paid for by EA.
Are you still talking about that?

Get a new gimmick.

Get a new girl to stalk.

I don't know the meaning of the word.

You've heard my voice, so this really pierces my heart.

Thanks.

God dammit. Wrecking my sleep schedule to watch a Group of Death SC2 series tonight. Probably going to be going to bed at 6:30 AM. Flash, Life (the first Royal Roader of SC2), Parting (WCS International champion), and Innovation (who doesn't really have any huge accomplishments but he's just really fucking good).
But yes, I'm the exception and not the rule, so I'll boil it down to this simple point. The 360's Dpad is garbage, doing Soul Steals on that fucking travesty would make me want to stab somebody. :bomb:
This is actually the better argument (at least for me). I always forget how older games actually play better on a dpad.

I'm so used to the dpad on the 360 that I'm able to use it for a lot of stuff people complain about, but I have used it for such a long time that it's definitely still a valid argument, I also have separate controllers with just a dpad that do work better for certain arcade games though.

Oh, Haa-aank! I have more adventures for you, this time in some crazy trainyard that apparently takes place in a non-Euclidian Escher painting.

Some time ago I posted an image of one of my units being unable to target a floater inside an alien base despite being only a few feet away with a clean line-of-sight. Please replace that image with the one above, keeping the same text and place in the slideshow.

UPZphIK.jpg

This one isn't so much a bug as it is a "Go fuck yourself, player!" and a lack of planning from the developers. Lots of things in this game trigger thin-man rains, but this particular mission had two of them landing on top of my troops (no picture of the other, as he got gibbed by reaction fire).

d6s10k4.jpg

This is a bug, though. After trying to shoot (with only a 66% chance to hit despite literally inhabiting the same position in space and time), the game hung for 5-10 seconds while my soldier stared up into the sky.

TZDzDzz.jpg

This spot, man. I decided to play around with this a little more, so I loaded a save and moved this character away. While she is considered flanked by her opponent, she is somehow not flanking him.

EDIT: Also, don't get too excited, j-cart. Nobody anywhere ever expected Neverwinter Online to be good.
The more I play it, the more P4A is actually alright.
It's good! I need to get back into it. I'm juggling way too many god damned games right now though.

Welcome to forever man, I can't remember the last time I was only going through like one or two games at a time :/. There's just way too many games out/coming out that I can't keep up with them all.

I'm usually pretty good at managing them, but picking up extra work on the side isn't doing me any favors. Neither is Monster Hunter. Or the 3DS. Or trying to stay good at fighting games. Or beadspriting. Life is hard.

Haha, yeah Monster Hunter alone does take up a huge amount of time, the 3DS and beadspriting are both other things I have/do as well and I agree with those as well, I still enjoy fighting games but kind of gave up on being "good" at them and am fine with being "okay", there are just way too many genres I like for me to put a huge focus on one like that.

Infamous 2 15gb download. I can't wait to play this game tomorrow!

I guess I'll work on beating jetstream sam dlc in under an hour

I never got around to playing the second one, I liked the first though. I might get around to it someday if I ever get PS+ again (which would be more likely if I ever grab a Vita since there's not much on PS3 that's been on Plus that I want to play as much).

Seems like your network needs some reconfiguration or you're just getting screwed somehow. My PS3 downloaded 16gb Sly 4, 3gb Sly 4 Vita, and 3.5gb R&C: Full Frontal in less than 6 hours.

Btw I'll be playing demon's souls when I get back from the gym today ^__^ I'm pretty excited to play that.
I'm done with the download its the installing part that takes a long ass time
It's annoying, yeah, so this is why you do downloads when you're not trying to play something and say "turn off system when finished" this way it just completes the install immediately after downloading and you can be doing something else... I want to say Sly 4 (16gb) took like 15-20 minutes yesterday?

Unfortunately my "auto-queue" from the store purchases screwed up, so none of it installed... which reminds me, I need to try it again with Zombie Tycoon 2 perhaps.

My PSplus code finally worked so I went ham and eggs downloading shit. My PS3 has been on since 10 pm last night and still downloading shit. ^_^

Queue up everything in the background, go to "turn system off" under users icon, check the box for "turn off after finished downloading", then turn your controller off and go do something else. I swear, it's faster when you're not doing them manually or waiting for it to auto do them when the download is finished if the download isn't in the background.

Alright I'll do that then. I have it set to turn off after download but I didn't know it installed them for you. I'll do that when infamous finishes I'm about to leave to the gym anyways thanks for the tip

If it's something that's already downloaded, it won't, but if it's still downloading it when you enter that state, it will install anything it finishes downloading.

Totally listen to Frosty. I prefer the downloading on PS3 to 360 because you can set it up so it goes at night. Best thing ever!

I can do that on my 360 as well though? It has the background download where it will stay in a powered down state while it's downloading then it turns off completely when the download is finished, I use it on both of my systems (well, and the Wii U now since the last update added that function to it as well).

So, spent about 30 minutes last week reworking my Q on GameFly and setting everything up so that every game I wouldn't play was off (newest Walking Dead, Deadly Premonition, Anarchy Reigns, Full Frontal Assault) and the games that weren't released yet were actually in release order. Made perfectly sure that there Deadly Premonition Director's Cut was not in there because I want to pick it up when it hits $20 and will probably not play it until then since I was thinking I'm going to be pretty busy in the coming weeks. Guess what I just got a text from GameFly saying? Deadly Premonition DC is totally on its way, so I'm guessing I was just meant to play it since the exact same thing happened with Far Cry 3.

No, I'm saying I prefer the PS3 downloading because I can set it to a specific time to turn on by itself and download/install, which in my case is from 2-4 AM since that's the time that nobody in my family is up and using the internet. Having a family of 6 all with computers and countless wireless devices it makes it a bitch to download anything during the day, so the PS3's set it and forget it download ability is something that I seriously value. Sure, I can (and do) have my 360 set so it will download while the console is powered off, but it won't be downloading very fast since it'll be downloading during over the course of the whole day since I have to remember to set it up to download something and it's easier for me to remember to do stuff like that in the morning. Aaaand my 360 has one of the spottiest wireless connections I've ever seen.

Fair enough, there's actually 6 people who would be using my internet connection as well so I know what it can be like when everybody is doing something, luckily my 360 get's a really good connection and there's never been a time where everything wasn't finished when I got back on it again to play something. But I can definitely see how that would be helpful if you do need to have it download at a specific time, which I guess is something I've never really had to do myself.

What else is someone with his skill set going to do?
The answer is nothing. It's like those pro athletes who spend all their money and never got a good education. ;)

Yeah, it's actually more convenient on 360 as you just have to check the background download box once and then it will automatically do it anytime something is downloading and you turn off the console.

Where on the PS3 you have to start the download, click the button to do background download, go to the menu option to power off the system and check the box to turn off after download finishes every damn time.

The PS3 interface/OS is terrible IMO. I really hope they streamline a lot of things like that for the PS4.

Seriously, Neverwinter is like any other shitty Korean F2P MMO.

Though the half-elf chick I made is a babe.

/edit: Crotch's XCOM picture also reminded me how annoying it was that we couldn't get the "drop" on aliens, because of their additional move upon finding them. Also, it's the future, why can't I have UAVs to scout with?
