GGT 236: Michael Biehn appreciation thread
Also, not sure how many people here this relates to, but I decided to run through the beginning of Pandora's Tower, and I really like the overall feel of the game so far, the theme and art direction are really nice, and even though the graphics aren't the best (it's on Wii) I'm still enjoying the bit I played so far, definitely looking forward to playing some more of that later!
Glad to hear it. I still need to try that out, as well as The Last Story. I know those two tend to get lumped together with Xenoblade with the whole Rainfall thing, but I've only played Xeno. It was damned near my GOTY.
What did you think of The Last Story?
I've enjoyed all three of the operation Rainfall games so far (or at least what I've played) and I honestly feel that The Last Story is my favorite one, I liked Xenoblade but really wasn't a fan of the combat unfortunately, and since it had that "MMO lite" feeling to it I kept thinking how much better it would be if I could have been playing it with a small group of friends to add more to that feeling, but the pacing in Last Story along with the story, and character interaction/voice acting made it more enjoyable to me. Just want to mention that I also really like the interaction with Elena in Pandora's Tower so far, even though I haven't played enough to see a lot but I hope it stays as good as it is!

I'd recommend them all! As I said above though Xenoblade wasn't as fun for me as I would have hoped after all the high praise, but it still is a great game. I'm just happy to be getting more JRPGs in general though :D
Eh, the connection there was mostly just the fact that they both like Gambit, who introduced them to each other because he felt like they could help each other overcome the somewhat similar situations they were going through.

I was talking about comics. Avengers Arena is the only comic X-23 is in right now (basically she had her own 3rd solo series which got cancelled, then they put her in Avengers Arena which also ended up being ended, and now she's in Avengers Arena (along with a bunch of Avengers Academy characters)). And it's basically a Battle Royale/Hunger Games knockoff with a bunch of established young super heroes who are supposed to be killing each other. But the setup really isn't very good, and the writing for most of the characters is really flat. But I feel like if I don't support something that X-23 and Runaways are in then they might just stop putting them in anything (which kind of already happened to Runaways, although I'll admit I wasn't a fan of most of the end of the 3rd Runaways series, so I'd be kind of scared if they said they were going to give them their own series again (well unless Brian K. Vaughan was going to write it again, haha).
Sorry thought you were talking about the Kinect game.
I've never seen this, at least in R&C HD... there are times where I got a little slowdown, but never anything that ground the game to a halt. I haven't played the other 2 yet.
It happens a lot in the later levels of Going Commando. Especially in the yeti levels or any where that you have a lot of enemies on screen. I thought it was just my PS3 dying a slow death at the time, but I tried it out on my bro's PS3 and it's the same. Pretty sad.
Gonna be a loooong work day.
YEP.
Can't wait to play it tomorrow. :bouncy:
You'll love it. I knew from the opening cinematic that you were going to love everything about it.
Dammnnn. I thought TLS was horrific. So I'm really unsure about how to take Pandora recommendations. Think I'll sit out this time.
Then in that case I unrecommend it! :( But yeah, they aren't really all that similar overall, outside of the more fast paced combat and British voice acting, so you might still like it. It's really hard for me to find an RPG that I don't like though, so I would almost recommend any of them, but I'm usually more open about what games I play in general (as my sig points out, I have a lot of achievements and due to that have played through many games others would find questionable and gotten enjoyment out of them). Maybe check out some gameplay on Youtube, I'm sure that will give you some assessment of how you might feel about the game. Not sure what games you generally like/dislike outside of the ones that you reviewed though, so I'm not sure what else you all enjoy.
Yeah I should probably do my own research, was just curious what boat you were in. Ty for the info.
No problem, but yeah, it's not like we're all going to enjoy the same games, so while reading reviews and such is definitely helpful, your own opinion is really the only one that matters. If you enjoy it then have fun, and if not, then you just move on to something else. Anyways, I always enjoy talking about some RPGs since not a lot of my friends are really into them so it was nice to see that here!

It was fun talking to everyone in this thread as always! ^.^ But I'm off to bed for now, I'll catch up on all the awesomeness that follows my leave when I'm up.

EDIT: Saw this before I went to sleep, figured the people that were talking about Rayman might enjoy it, game looks awesome.

I remember recommending the hell out of The Last Story to Panzerfist.

It's his fault for liking FFX so much. I thought he was into that type of game.

Still haven't had a chance to play Blood Dragon. :l Downloaded at least.

DnD session #2. For those of you that play DnD - Which edition do you play?

Been so long that I only remember playing Pathfinder ;)

Pathfinder was pretty good. Still prefer 4th Edition though. It just feels right, I think. I do like the magic system in Pathfinder though.

I heard DnD Next was alright, but haven't tried it myself. I still don't really know all that much about DnD though, but it's pretty fun. ^^
DaggerDale sucks. Got it for free a while back and it's just bleh.
I was gonna get it for dat local co-op.
360 version has compressed ass sound.
So how much of a turn off should that be?
Any reason why I should get SotN on PSN instead?
Can transfer your save back and forth between vita/psp and PS3 if you're into that kind of thing.

For someone like me, who has finished the PS1 version about a dozen times, and the Saturn version twice with Alucard, once with Richter, and once with Maria. . .Very. I have the sounds and music in that game memorized, and even the Saturn version's slightly garbled sounds were annoying. Imagine the music being lower quality as well and you get the point.

But yes, I'm the exception and not the rule, so I'll boil it down to this simple point. The 360's Dpad is garbage, doing Soul Steals on that fucking travesty would make me want to stab somebody. :bomb:

The controller has a good d-pad too, so you can actually enter/use the magic commands.
360 version has achievements though... and has a stupid border around the game.

LoZ: OoT on the 3DS is beautiful. Absolutely love it.

Decided to order a few games today. I can never just get one. I seriously have a problem.

Might try to start Blood Dragon tonight. I just watched the intro and loved it, haha.

Tales of... games have awesome skits. Also, Laura Bailey.

I finished majority of the game on the regular 3ds and then finished ganon's tower on the XL and it looked far more pixalted but yeah easily my favorite 3DS game I couldn't even bring myself to sell it for $45 on amazon. Don't forget to buy Mega Man 1-4 on the 3DS virtual shop.

There is.

Go all the way to the left in the XMB (User Accounts) and turn the console off from there.

I only saw the option to turn off the PS3 when you're finished dling which I'm doing now.

And that's what the 360 does.

Sure, it uses less power cuz of the sleepish mode that it goes into, but it's nothing substantial.

OoT for 3ds is out?

I dunno whether to grab soul sacrifice on digital or get a physical copy. The digital is actually cheaper at the moment...
That intro was way too up beat for the theme of the whole series.
A lot of animes have the same problem. I don't care though, I tend to skip the intro after episode 3 anyways.
