Finally got around to playing the Overlord DLC for Mass Effect 2 today. Pretty solid, still don't like the hammerhead vehicle crap, but the on foot sections were good, and it was decent enough story wise for a sidequest.
I finally beat RE5 (PS3). Took me a while because
second form of Wesker was a huge pain in the butt.
I finally found the trick to beating it.
You had a problem beating him? It was pretty easy, I thought.
You had a problem beating him? It was pretty easy, I thought.
It didn't have to do with him being hard, I just kept doing the wrong strategy over and over again beating him. Took me quite a while to figure out the best way, but I played solo.

The RPG to the back?

Yeah, my friend and I looked that up immediately because we were honestly sick of the game, and at that point simply wanted to return the rental. Good lord that game was bad.

RE5 is a good game.

Wow the default mouse sensitivity on PC borderlands is crazy fast. Need to tweak it so I can aim w/o looking like I drank a gallon of coffee.

disagree. after RE4, it was a huge fucking disappointment. :(
disagree. after RE4, it was a huge fucking disappointment. :(
Agreed. Forced co-op was just the cherry on the shit sundae.

Yeah it's not such a bad game if we ignore the fact that a gamecube title four years before it out shined it in every possible way.

Co-Op was the only element that made it playable.
disagree. after RE4, it was a huge fucking disappointment. :(
Definitely. I was so hyped for the game, and I even bought the LE. That is easily the worst LE I've ever bought. Overall, the game was still pretty decent on its own, but as a follow-up to RE4 (one of my favorite games ever), it was just a total letdown. It was like they kept the general gameplay formula from RE4, added co-op, and took out all the little things that made RE4 great, such as the merchant and the briefcase. Not to mention the horror atmosphere was completely removed.

I liked RE5. Wasn't as good as RE4 for sure, but still a good game. But you really did need to play it with a friend though. I also love co-op games, so that helped me enjoy it more than people who only like solo games I suppose.
re5 sucked. Although, the final boss of the game is the most surprising boss in video game history.
WOOO! GS shipped my copy of Crackdown 2 and for my previous order troubles gave me free overnight shipping and $10 off! BOOSH!

Haterz wanna hate.

Nah, I respect other folks' opinions.

The game is not playable w/o the co-op, but I enjoy co-op games.
The game is not playable w/o the co-op, but I enjoy co-op games.
I prefer to play games alone, unless it's a fighter. So any games that practically forces co-op upon me is, well... bleh.

Friend and I had a blast with RE5. We were like a fuckin' SWAT team on that shit. RE4 is definitely better, but I enjoyed RE5 a lot.

I've never played RE5 with the AI.

I did and it wasn't so bad aside from the part where you have to separate and fight Lickers - only time the AI died on me or got in my way.

Does anyone besides me think the only game out there that's using Kinect right is Dance Central?

I love Child of Eden but it's nothing I cant do without a controller.

Yes, see that's what makes me hate the game less than others--when you and your friend are on, that shit rocks. Totally agree with you there. Not as good as RE4, but fun when the co-op is clicking. Maybe RE6 will improve on the stuff they messed up on with 5.
RE5 is a good game.

Wow the default mouse sensitivity on PC borderlands is crazy fast. Need to tweak it so I can aim w/o looking like I drank a gallon of coffee.
I absolutely loved Resident Evil 5. I'll be perfectly honest it was the first Resident Evil I really got into. I played it once solo up until the end, and then I played co-op up until the end. Eventually, I played alone to beat the game. I may sell my copy, but that's because I'll buy RE5 Gold on PS3 with PS Move support (and I rather have additional content on the disc (running out of HDD space).

I'll be honest I wasn't really a RE fan over the years (use to not be a survival horror fan outside of Silent Hill). RE4 was a game I enjoyed much more than the older RE games, but I only had it during a rental and did not get into it. I definitely want to go back through it because I'll probably like it much more now. Just can't decide which version to buy, but I'm leaning towards Wii one. I should like it a lot now since I'm into survival horrors now.
I prefer to play games alone, unless it's a fighter. So any games that practically forces co-op upon me is, well... bleh.
I feel the same way too, but I still enjoyed it. I'm even trying to play Lost Planet 2 single player only, and I'll admit it's not working out on Stage 3-3.

For the most part, i enjoyed RE5 much more then RE4. I think there is a lot of resentment from nintendo fanboys still trying to hold up RE4 as a "AAA" title for the Wii/GC, and they belittle RE5 a lot due to that. IMO of course. RE4 was ok, but it wasn't anything mind blowing for me, i had a lot more fun with RE5. Ive never played it Co-op, just single player on normal, it was fine.
Maybe RE6 will improve on the stuff they messed up on with 5.
No forced co-op, no reusing animations, add something new to the core gameplay, no punching boulders and no complete global saturation.

RE5 was great. People who hate it don't have friends. Best co-op experience to date. Gears has nothing on it.

I'm not a Nintendo fanboy, nor do I have any shred of a care about what platform a game comes out on, so long as it's good.

Also, for the record, I played with NO co-op, and while I was a bit irritated with it at times, I never thought the AI was bad enough to ruin the game -- probably why I don't see myself reversing my opinion of the title should I ever decide to play with a partner.

I think my main problems were that the story sucked, the story sucked, the environments sucked, the story sucked, and oh yeah -- I didn't need gears of war in my resident evil.

Not once during my several playthroughs of the game, save for trying the Mercenaries mode, did I ever say to myself "boy, I need to play this with someone else, that would be sweet."
Has anyone ever told you that you have a way with words? I mean, you come in to defend a game you liked that alot people did not, and instead of actually defending the game you insult the people who didn't like it. Awesome.

Dammit, you two beat me to what I wanted to say.

You might as well play it, it certainly has flaws but is still a solid game (yes, even solo) and doesn't take all that long to finish.
Man all this RE5 hate makes think I should dump of the copy in my backlog. I'll never find a co-op partner to enjoy it
Have the Gold Edition? Wait for the PS Move patch and you can co-op with Mana Knight!

:bouncy:

Lol, I was pretty amazed by the fact that there's a game based on Chuck E. Cheese...

Regal Resort is new to me. I always enjoy the cover art on the Paws and Claws games.

That's probably why I liked it quite a bit. I've never really liked the RE series or survival horror in general, while the Gears games are two of my all time favorites. So the move to being more a shooter than survival horror game with RE4 and especially 5 has got the series closer to a genre I like and further from one I don't.

Definitely go with the Wii version. I've played it on all 3 consoles and the Wii controls are by far the best (which is a rarity).
Got Puzzle Quest 2 for the :ds:

Touch Screen only controls?

fuck you Nintendo and D3!
What's wrong with touch screen controls in Puzzle Quest? It seems pretty well suited for the touch screen.

I played the first PQ on my PSP, so I got used to those controls.

Plus, PQ1 was my favorite bathroom game. Using a stylus while doing that is just asking for trouble.

Personally, I hate touch screen only controls in puzzle games. I know for some people it can be easier to move around blocks and align them, but I'm just more comfortable using the actual D-PAD. Plus, I'm left handed and I've found some games to be awakward to play with stylus only.

EDIT: WTF? I just checked the order status on my P3P order and it says backordered? I've had this ordered since May.

I don't think you would have a problem with Puzzle Quest though, since there's no moving around blocks. It's just like Bejeweled, all you do is switch the place of two blocks next to each other by tapping on each of them.

Either way, I do agree they should have included d-pad controls as an option.

I'm not a fan of the touchscreen outside of Elite Beat Agents personally. It ruined Magical Starsign for me and some other games.\
Definitely go with the Wii version. I've played it on all 3 consoles and the Wii controls are by far the best (which is a rarity).
It's $15 at Sears, so I'll buy it one day.

I started Tom Clancy's HAWX today. I actually like it more than I thought.

I wonder if they got more pre-orders than they got hats... When I picked up my hat from Gamestop they told me that they only got 3 hats total and that they had no idea what they were for until I asked about them.

It could also be nothing... Amazon had Trinity Universe listed as backordered for like a day before release.

Well there's a pending charge on my account for that and what I think is DQIX as well. I guess we'll see if it ships out this week.

On RE5's count, I actually enjoyed playing co-op with my brothers and my boyfriend, but once it was 1k'd I never touched the game again. It wasn't bad, I enjoyed my overall experience. I think it's just after the masterpiece RE4 was, people were expecting something different.

My copy of P3P already shipped

Nah, Magical Starsign still would have been a shitty game even without touchscreen controls.

Nah, Magical Starsign still would have been a shitty game even without touchscreen controls.
I'll admit I was really excited for Magical Starsign. I was so disappointed we never got Magical Vacation on GBA. Ended up being one of my most disappointing games in 2006. I just didn't like it at all, but forced touch screen controls really hurt it.

Despite how big of a Star Ocean fan I am (it's my 5th favorite RPG series), I think I may be putting down Star Ocean: The Last Hope International down for a while. Currently I'm
back at planet Aeos
. There's a battle I'm playing against phantoms, where you start off playing against 3, but there's 7 ambushes of them (gradually increased to 4 and 5 of them during battle). 3-4 in battle isn't bad, but once you get 5, the battle becomes hell (I'm playing on normal mode). Magic/ATK doesn't do much damage against the enemies, and they constantly do massive combos that can greatly deplete your lives. I've tried switching out most of my party and still having issues. My levels are 35-43 for most characters (just over 28 hours into the game). Ugh, Star Ocean is the last major PS3 game I really want to complete too (because it will take a while, while the rest of games I want to finish are short, and I need to get to beating a bunch of Wii games).

I was specifically referring to the clunky controls and gameplay when the developers said "hey look, we're now a cover based shooter" about 70% of the way through the game. :(
