I don't ignore you. The last page is almost just me talking to you.Im fine, zeki ignores me most of the time anyway.
I dont know why it upset me as much as it did, but its pointless to fret over it when you know the other people dont care and wont care either way.
This week will be awesome with family time and being festive. The midwest is confused on the season though like today is considered the first day of winter but it was in the 50s yesterday.
Man you hit every point exactly almost how I feel. Reading it I was like "exactly" every sentence.Okay, heavy Star Wars spoilers and thoughts in the spoiler. Okay? Just want to make sure everyone knows before I spout my thoughts.
I loved it. BB-8 was fantastic and I liked her way more than R2 or C3PO. In fact, I gotta admit that I kind of hated C3PO. He seemed like more of an asshole this time around. Surprised they had Artoo in such a small role, but then again, I almost understand his role needing to be so small to allow for the growth of BB-8.
Poe and Finn were favorites. Loved the shit out of both of them. Between them and Rey, the new characters were perfect. I know a lot of people are complaining about Rey being a Mary Sue, but I disagree. She had a couple of flaws and just grew past them by the end of the movie. Finn's PTSD part in the beginning with one of his Trooper buddies dying made me cry because it reminded me a lot of how I felt in the days after my Mom died. Shit wased up. Poe is the absolute best character. Pretty sure Poe is going to be the next Boba Fett type fan favorite because of how incredibly lucky and mysterious he is.
The First Order felt way, way more nazi-ish than the Empire ever did to me. I thought I was crazy, but my gf thought the same. Hated General Hux, but loved Kylo Ren. His whinyness felt earned and most of the stuff he did made me feel like he was heavily riffing off of Anakin from the prequels, but doing a WAY better job. Snoke was alright. I was surprised he was an alien, I kind of expected him to be a human since all of the other main characters that are villains seem to be human. Phasma was a disappointment. I expected her to totally capture the magic of Boba Fett for me, but instead she seemed like glorified middle management. I must admit that I still liked her, just not as much as Poe or Finn. Kylo stopping that blaster bolt with the Force and nonchalantly holding it in the air for so long was badass. I really liked that.
Han and Chewie were awesome. I haven't liked Han this much since I was little (I hated Luke). Was disappointed to have Han's death spoiled for me the night before, but it was still a powerful moment and I teared up a little. Leia's appearance was nice. I was surprised they played Luke up so much and that he didn't talk or anything in the movie. Excited to see where they go from here with him.
I know it's frowned on by a lot of people, but I really liked that the Resistance blew up Starkiller in the end of the film. It felt like it was something that had to happen thematically. After what has been at least a few years of the First Order having major victories, it seemed like what this movie needed was a major victory for the Resistance to really infuse the world with the Hope that it needed since the Resistance really felt like it was running on fumes. I really liked the parallels that were drawn between the movies. I also really like that the movie ended with Rey taking control of the Falcon and tracking down Luke to study under him. It makes me expect that the next movie will probably be a back and forth showing the education of Kylo and Rey and how the training of the Light side and the Dark side differs. I also fully expect Rey to find out that Kylo is either her Brother or Cousin. If it's not the next movie where we find that out/Luke dies, then it'll probably be in Episode IX. Oh yeah, I expect Luke will get killed by Kylo in the same way Vader killed Ben in New Hope. I also expect we'll get to see Mara Jade in the next movie since Rebels is introducing her to post-Disney canon as a character this season.
Overall, it was a fine film. I think the people that dislike it because of it feeling like it's too samey are getting too hung up and/or don't understand that the core message is that History moves in cycles and Star Wars has always prided itself on pulling thematic elements and story beats from other stories in the franchise. The story is at its core about generations. The repeating History stuff has always spoken to me and I think the way that they repeat it while also changing small details feels real and right. They did a good job of illustrating how a huge military presence quickly moved in to fill in the vacuum that the Empire's demise left, too. I also think they did a great job incorporating even more politic-y stuff without overdoing it. Throwing the Resistance and First Order into the mix as kind of fighting over control of the New Republic was interesting and felt like it could be totally analogous to the political climate of the United States without being super heavily obvious like the stuff from Episode III where everyone in the Senate motioned for Palpatine to become Emperor.
Only things I'm really curious about (besides Rey's parentage) are, does Luke have any more Padawans (Knights of Rey, pls) and are we going to see the Knights of Ren anytime soon? I'd love to see a huge all-out battle at the conclusion of this trilogy.
End Spoilers.
I gotta say, seeing it on Friday was a really surreal experience. We waited in a line of around 300 people to just get into the actual auditorium to see it and when we were walking through the hallways to the auditorium around 400 people were lining the walls waiting for the next IMAX show to start in the next auditorium over. The amount of musky body odor that builds up from that many people in a really tight enclosed space that has no ventilation is crazy. I hadn't seen lines like that since I went to the premiere of the Return of the Jedi rerelease when I was a kid and seeing it all again kind of made me panic. I've never had it happen before, but I started crying really hard and almost threw up right before the movie started because I was so scared that Force Awakens would suck and my memories of watching Star Wars in theatre with my Mom would be ruined. I didn't realize how important Star Wars had been to me and how many great memories were made in my family around it until the moments leading up to the opening title crawl. Thankfully, as soon as the movie actually started my stomach settled and the tears stopped. It was everything I wanted and needed it to be. It made me feel things I haven't felt in a while.
The word "people" doesnt mean its exclusive to you. Also I gave friendly criticism saying your star wars thing was "dumb" I didnt go on a rant on a person you are or say that a group of people and I were sitting there talking about you as a "dumb" person. Also the reevaluate your life statement was me just doing the usual "this is what you do with your free time " statement that I use all the time with you like on your "blogs" and multiple times in the amazon thread. Also replying to my questions in a thread isnt really "talking" to a person.I don't ignore you. The last page is almost just me talking to you.
I just don't care for things you say about me.
Thanks! Also, I agree with pretty much everything you said. I like your taste, dawg.Man you hit every point exactly almost how I feel. Reading it I was like "exactly" every sentence.
so Im glad you mentioned the kylo blaster hold, Im think since Rey became so powerful near the end had to do with balance of the forece. Kylo was almost a child wielding his powers, his anger and fear controlled him so much, he is an awesome villian. So when the balance finally was interrupted between the battle between them, Rey received a surge of force energy allowing her to out perform him on many ways. Also to the people saying like "how can she use it almost as if she had training". First off she was along on Jakku for so long she must of heard/read of the stories about jedi and sith. With this in mind she was able to remember the skills they had and use them with no actual training. Also her staff helped train her with how to swing and deflect Ren's attacks.
When Han walked into starkiller base I knew something was going to happen. When he got killed like I almost lost it in the theater, like my arm just freaked out. Hard to explain. I have actually been feeling depressed with knowing he os dead now. Like a fictional character is making feel depressed.
Captain phasma was a bit of a let down for now. I hope the have big plans for her in the sequels. She is so heavily advertised with merchandise (she has a hallmark ornament) what shocked me that she had such small screen time, she did have an important role. I could see a duel between Finn abd her in the future.
The first order made the empire look like a group of kids. The nazi style they had to them and general hux's speech were what made me feel that way plus the salute. They had so much power, they needed to be shown that they can lose though. If starkiller base was kept up who knows how much destruction they would cause.
I want to know who the man was in the beginning who gave poe the map piece. He knew of Luke and must have a his trust. He also knew of Kylo ren and his past. He seems like a really important character that hopefully we learn more about.
The whole new cast for me were amazing, they cast everyone so perfectly. I thought poe might become the next Han? Finn's story about the training since he was young and not having a real name, the love he showed Rey, made him such a likable character as well. Rey was amazing every scene. Kylo was just so evil and adam driver did him perfectly.
Loved it going to probably see it agian this next weekend since my uncle wants to see it and he is busy all this week but will be down for chrsitmas for multiple days. My mom loved it as well we keep talking about scenes and moments. It was also interesting to see her take on opening day since she saw episode IV with my uncle when it was orginially out (not opening day though). Loved your take Joel, you are a man who pays attention.
A bunch of people at my local theater but no "body musk" or whatever. Just a bunch of adults wearing star wars shirts, I was wearing one but had a jacket on.

So... what you're saying here... is basically just put them on your ignore list and forget about it, eh?Him and Mo, likebeatles come on.
Just let those two do whatever it is those two do together.
It's what I've been doing lately.
I believe I told you that months ago. Will probably see Star Wars eventually.
Glad I gave Bloodborne another shot. This shit is good.
It's none of my business, but didn't you say you had money issues a few months back? How are you now affording all this stuff, let alone a PS4? Are you Snakey?Oh btw Joel, I got all of the Star Wars playsets, not sure how soon I'll play them but I remember you brought them up a while ago, I'll let you know how I liked them when I go through them.
Sweet! I look forward to hearing your thoughts. I don't have the Force Awakens playset yet, but I'm hoping I'll get it for my birthday or something so I can give it a try. Really liked both of the other ones, but the original trilogy set was just a lot more fun.Oh btw Joel, I got all of the Star Wars playsets, not sure how soon I'll play them but I remember you brought them up a while ago, I'll let you know how I liked them when I go through them.
I'm not doing great financially, but I save up here and there, sell a few things if I need to, I don't know, I don't use credit or anything so I'm not building any of that junk up.It's none of my business, but didn't you say you had money issues a few months back? Yeah, I haven't played much of the game in general yet and still want to go through the 2.0 sets, but I look forward to them, happy you can use pretty much any character in them when you get the token as well this time around, it's a good addition.Sweet! It's good that you want to go through the 2.0 stuff too. You should try hitting those first. I went back and played through the GotG and Avengers sets after playing through the SW sets and while there are good things in each, they just are not as great as the SW sets because they feel like they're missing something that's really integral. Something like great boss battles. The Maul and Vader battles in the SW playsets are great and you'll miss them going back to the 2.0 sets.I'm not doing great financially, but I save up here and there, sell a few things if I need to, I don't know, I don't use credit or anything so I'm not building any of that junk up.

Yeah, you weren't alone. Just wasn't feeling it at the time for some reason.I believe I told you that months ago.![]()
