agreed, but anyways....I dont really understand the whole GGT thing. What all do you all talk about in this thread ? any info would be great
You're going to be totally lost unless you read GGTs 1-38
Perfect lead in to my question:
when there's a sequel coming out, do you guys try to marathon the previous games or do you hop right in to the new one?
I always see people saying they want to play the previous games first...like Other M is coming out and lots of people on neogaf wanna play the prime trilogy and all the other Metroid games so that they totally understand Other M.
Which seems ridiculous, since that's about a 100 hours of gaming, all for something that's pretty much made to be understandable to newbs who have no idea and is dotted with some fan service to appease old fans. When there is a story dependent sequel, there's always a summary on the disc or elsewhere (like with Xenosaga 2 and 3, Shenmue II Xbox, and the Yakuza series.) Even then, you can watch youtube vids or read a FAQ. The point being-- games are always shooting for the widest audience, so they wouldn't make something completely incomprehensible to a new audience, MGS4 notwithstanding.
Sometimes it's not even about the story...like some need to play Persona 1, 2, and 3 before getting to 4...which is hundreds of hours of gaming just to feel ready to play a stand alone game that is advanced in every way making the others obsolete from a gameplay perspective.
I've never understood this, but at the risk of sounding like Dmaul, games are too long to go back and play everything that came before just to feel like I'm getting the "full" experience. The few times I have tried to catch up, I've gotten bored and given up (except my playthrough of the MGS series before 4...but that's because each game is so unique and good.) I wish I could spend that much time gaming though!
I used to collect entire series and tell myself I'd play them in order...but that was before I had actual responsibilities and when I had enough disposable income to keep from feeling like unplayed games were money rotting on my shelf.
ok, maybe i've had too much coffee this morning...
