Sounds good. I don't have the shelf space right now and I need to move things around so I'm pretty sure I'll either get lazy/forget to post pics lolol.
Wow. Quake Wars: Enemy Territory is terrible...
They made Quake games after Quake 3? Do any of them feature Quakers? If not, no sell.
Wow. Quake Wars: Enemy Territory is terrible...
Pretty much. I remember being hella disappointed by the demo...

Lulz at the GT review of NGII. "And we think that some players will never finish it" "No online play" Lulz at that, basically if you suck at action games (Looking at j00 TMK No offense) then don't get NGII. fucking game play looks sweet as fuck, and the new girl looks 10X better then Rachel IMO. Sucks to hear about the mid loading again during the game play, hopefully it isn't too bad though.

It wasn't really that bad in Sigma. Although, something else more universal in Sigma felt off. It's one of those annoying things I couldn't really put my finger on what it was. Maybe it was just the PS3 controller and no rumble. I dunno, something under the surface was lost in translation there.

Just got Vista running on the laptop. Out of the box it's not that great, but when you know how to tweak it, you can make it run pretty well. I'm gonna see if I can dig into it a bit more to get at more of the nuts-and-bolts differences between it and XP.

And just adding some OST action to iTunes. No More Heroes, away!
Did they change the mechanics at all in Colonies? Like, do you not fall down as much, or are you more agile or something?
Yes! You don't fall down as much at all. The dodge roll seems more useful. Still can't fire the zip cord in air though. I was playing through hard and the bosses were tough as shit, but it didn't feel as cheap. still pretty cheap though--you have to be loaded on T-eng to survive. So I'm going back to normal.

The new modes make single player a shit load more fun too and the mouse aiming is completely improved so your aim moves the camera as well. Feels more like Gears PC.

Tarion or w/e in NGS was awful though. That was really the only pain in the ass mid loading to me, since it seemed like every time I moved around I stepped over the invisible loading line. Doesn't seem to bad in NGII though, at least from watching the game play vids.

Dude... that covers literally every aspect of Lost Planet I had an issue with the first time around. Holy fuck. So I guess this is definitely worth picking up now. Thanks for the info.

I started Mass Effect on the PC and I'm lovin' that shit so far. Granted, I'm at the very beginning, but I really like the sense of style... and it feels a lot more solid than something like Jade Empire did. Looks like the gameplay could be a lot of fun. The PC version looks fantastic and runs like a dream. It's 6 months late, but it looks like this was worth the wait.

Sweet action! Contra 4 shipped about a week and a 1/2 sooner than they thought it would.

If anyone's interested, it's in stock on Amazon now and only $20.

I never played Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox so I wouldn't know if something was off or not. I know rumble wasn't there, and that was disappointing.

On another, I beat another Virtual Console game tonight. Can you guess? No? I'll tell you. ahem...

SUPER

MARIO BROTHERS

THREE!!!!

Yeah KB! *high-5*!

I went on a 2D platformer kick in my days off of work here the last week. Beat SMB 1, 3, and World, as well as Sonic 1-3. I love the VC. :)

I would love to play some colonies but I'm fighting off a mad migraine and creeping from my cave to write this post is dangerous enough.. perhaps tomorrow?

I need to get LPC and Mass Effect, both for PC. But NGII and MGS4 take priority, so I'm going to wait on those.

Plus Target will probably end up clearancing them both sometime anyway. ;)

Wow, had the most awesome shaved ice I had yet--"Snow Ice" at YogArt's in Hillcrest. Fresh fruit toppings on the softest, finest shaved ice possible. They were giving 'em out free this afternoon, but it was so good we went back for more after dinner (Great ramen and tender pork at the Mitsuwa food court where Book Off is, btw). :p

I want Lost Colonies, but I have yet to see it in stock at the Targets I've been to--I might not be looking for the right thing though. I should double check what the cover is supposed to look like. Plus I don't have a printer atm. :p

hmmm on june 8th target is having r6 vegas 2 for $39...if i can stack the $10 off and $5 off coupon i might just pick it up

Sorry, I'm busy rigging my 360 so I can at least DL my profile and IKALUGA!!! no LP:Colonies for a while.

What's a good cheap wireless alternative for this thing? I can't get internet connection sharing to work correctly and don't want to keep my PC and 360 running at the same time any way.
The cover is just the platinum hits version of LP, and on the right hand side of the box it says "Colonies Edition."
Ok, thanks. I wasn't looking at the boxes closely enough.

Gonna print up a coupon when I get back to LA and might try it on Monday, if I get a chance.

Just look for the big red box of text on the bottom. It's pretty easy to spot.

--I opted for Motorstorm instead of The Darkness (360 version) at Target. I really, really liked the demo of The Darkness but never got around to picking it up, still I opted for Motorstorm as I only have 3 games besides it for the PS3 (MLB '08: The Show, Warhawk, and GTA IV). I'll get The Darkness down the road.

--I would take pictures of my Target haul but my Macbook doesn't have an SD reader and it's a pain in the ass to get pictures online.

--Shia LaBeouf could be a cast member of SNL, he is really funny. (I know it's a repeat)

--I'm debating whether or not I should upgrade my Macbook from 1GB of RAM and 120GB hard drive to 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. Comes out to $165 shipped from Newegg.

--MLB '08: The Show is soooo good. The gameplay gives me a feeling of polish I haven't seem from any sports game in a WHILE.

I'm going to crack open Motorstorm after SNL.

I heard Panzer Dragoon Saga is the shortest game ever...

I put 2 hr 45 min into it already and got to disc 2!!

the game is real good btw,

the battle system is awesome and they ended disc 1 with crazy plot developments

nothing as crazy as Sega ignoring the demand for a $200+ game like PDS and going almost 10 years without a reissue/remake of the damned thing.

Sega is a company that hates making money. Even more than Sony.

got my gba micro in today which I was really pleased with on the condition (looks brand new). Only need a GBA SP and I'll have every model of the gameboy (have them all in different colors as well including different models).

spending habits for the rest of the month include monster hunter freedom 2 on monday at GS (hoping to score a used copy so I can get 20% off with the edge card and coupon) then NG2 on tuesday for nothing out of pocket and Hot Shots open tee 2 on wednesday. Sucks that school starts on monday though.

I'm thinking about getting the Singstar ceramic white PS2 bundle from TRU site for 100 shipped... I kinda wanna get all the PS2 Singstar titles too...

I want a real Shining Force and a real Phantasy Star, Sega. You'listenin' you bastards? [falls on deaf ears]

Sadly, this is the Sega of today.

A real Shining Force and Phantasy Star 5 would be full of so much win. Damn, I wish I hadn't sold my Genesis with the huge collection of RPGs I had.

I haven't played much the last couple of days, but I'm thinking about playing thru Resident Evil 4 again after watching the new RE 5 trailer. That looks like alot of fun.

June 12 cannot get here fast enough.

This Mission 3 boss in Lost Planet is cheap as hell. She keeps using a smoke screen and I can't see whats she is up to and then hits me with a laser attack which takes a nice chunk of health away.

So this new version Lost Planet... is it good/fun now? I remember being interested in it a while back but it got so panned I just ignored it.

I wouldn't know since I never played the original game. But from what I hear this is pretty much the same as the original but it has more Multiplayer stuff.

I saw some Sega Genesis Collection PSP for $15 @ Target. I wonder if I should've picked 'em up?

And wow, my wife is in progress with her first marathon! I meet her at the finish line in a couple hours. I hope there's parking. :p
So this new version Lost Planet... is it good/fun now? I remember being interested in it a while back but it got so panned I just ignored it.
I don't think it was so much panned as just had those few annoying issues that became big issues to certain people. Like how you would fall down and take 5-10 seconds to get up (that seems to have been toned down) and the aiming system being looser than the average FPS (I liked it) Sort of like how the severity of Dead Rising's problems were really based on your personal tastes. (It doesn't have nearly as many problems as Dead Rising did, though)

I thought lost planet was a fantastic game when it first came out. Really awesome setpeices and incredible boss battles. Really large scale stuff, almost shadow of the colossus-esque in size. The multiplayer is really fun too, in a hectic, not super competetive way. The people playing and the flow of the matches reminds me a lot of MGO from MGS3S, which I enjoyed a ton. The controls aren't very traditional, and the kills don't come as easy as a halo or Gears of War game, but it makes it that much more satisfying when they do come. Plus fighting against a team of giant bugs as humans is a blast.

I think you would enjoy it, daroga. For $20-30 it's absolutely worth the price and your time.

I just realized from Apossum's post a little ways back that perhaps my biggest issue was the aiming system where the camera didn't move with the crosshairs... if stuff like that's really fixed, that's pretty huge. It's weird, because the first time around, Capcom really had a great game built, but they messed up some of the fundamental elements of a good shooter horribly. So yeah, I'm excited to pick this up.

yay, good to see LP:Colonies getting some attention. With the aiming and stumbling fixed, I can finally fully enjoy it. It really is a completely raucous game that's loud as hell and amazing to look at (especially on PC running at 60fps.) Not the deepest of games, but just incredibly satisfying. Only CoD comes close to delivering that kind of satisfaction, but the cool part about LP is that it's not just background war carnage like in CoD--you actually cause all of it :)

edit: Blade Runner final cut on Blu-Ray is  amazing.

Oh yeah, is the performance any better in Colonies?

And yeah, a good shooter doesn't have to be super deep... just satisfying. I need to enjoy shooting things.

Anyone in here educated in the ways of PC building? I actually got kind of into that stuff before I bought my Macbook I was considering building a gaming rig.

The reason I ask is my brother goes off to college in a few months and we are debating whether to go for an Asus laptop (which actually has amazing specs for the price) or we can build him something.

The budget is $1,500. We need a CD/DVD burner, case, processor, hard drive, RAM, motherboard, power supply, and video card.

We want to go Intel in terms of processor, 2GB of RAM (4GB if the price is right), and we want a video card that will be top of the line right now and at least be able to play games well for the next 3-4 years.

No overclocking and we want to be able to order everything off newegg.

With $1500, you can get a lotta stuff. I'd definitely opt for the 4GB if he's going to be playing games... it should only run you about $200 or so for 4GB of DDR2 RAM from G.Skill or some other company that's good. Videocard... I dunno, something in Nvidia's 9800 series should fit the bill just fine. At worst, drop down to the 8800GT video card, which is still quite capable. For the processor, I think a good option is still the Q6600.

the fuck? A Lian Li case? Aren't those like... mega expensive? And they're ugly as shit. I'd get a much cheaper case and get a monitor that's not complete shit.

Nevermind Chac he said laptop only.

Look at those specs, and that price.

Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive, DVD burner, one of the best video cards that laptops have to offer, fingerprint reader, free case and mouse, Mini N card (supports all wi-fi's), VGA and HDMI out, Altec Lansing speakers, 8 in 1 card reader, built in webcam.

All for $1,499. The only gripe about the computer seems to be only 2 hours of battery time. He will always be near outlets anyway.
