Considering that the announcement will be made at an invite-only fan event in Japan, I doubt it would be something related to a US release date. It'll be something bigger than that... like FF games on PSN (which, knowing Squeenix, would be highly unlikely), another FFVII spinoff, or the dreaded (by me, anyway) FFVII remake.

BTW, AC Complete hasn't even come out in Japan yet!
Ah, I didn't know it was invite only. So you can check my 1st guess off then. Also I know that AC Complete hasn't come out yet but apparently there will be some news related to it at the event. I am hoping for a FF7 remake, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I think another spin off is more likely....
Please be a Final Fantasy Girls Beach Volleyball game

Also whats wrong with a FF7 remake? If it's not your thing you could always skip it and keep playing the original. I never understood this dislike of remakes some people have....

What Chac said *points down*
I just don't like remakes when they fuck a game up.
Considering the huge mess of retcons that the Compilation of FFVII has brought about (AC not so much, but the rest...), I'm sure that Squeenix would fuck up an FFVII remake somehow.

And I'm playing the original right now, and loving it. Yes, I will happily continue playing it for many years to come, but I'll also still complain about a remake

Anyway, here's what I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year:

Animal Crossing: City Folk (Day One)
Chrono Trigger
de Blob
Disgaea DS
Dragon Quest IV
Infinite Undiscovery
Retro Game Challenge
Rhapsody DS
Rune Factory 2
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
Tales of Vesperia
Wario Land: Shake It!

Strong maybes:

Mirror's Edge
Shawn White Snowboarding (Wii)
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
Spore (PC)
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People

Square has become profoundly retarded, but they're not planning to fuck up the Chrono Trigger port/mild-remake, so I'd think they still have the competency to bring out a remake of FFVII.

I think it's mostly just new stuff that they enjoy messing up. Though I did enjoy Crisis Core a lot.

Thank goodness that the latest CT port looks to be competent. I hope they do ports of the PS1 Final Fantasies in a similar fashion (not changing/adding too much) and milk 'em for a number of years like they did with FFIV-FFVI before remaking them entirely. They did that FFT PSP port, so...

Only problem is that the PS1 Final Fantasies haven't held up as well (graphically) as the SNES Final Fantasies...

If they screw up CT DS, I can always just play the original. :)

I just finished the Bourne Conspiracy. It was pretty good and a fun ride overall. It just needs some tightening up, mainly in the gunplay, and it would be great. And add some more combos too. Overall though, I totally enjoyed it, and will pick it up when it's cheaper.

I'd imagine they are only porting CT since they don't think it would sell well enough for a total remake. But FF7 is another story...

Well I'm happy with less effort, since they can't screw up.

I won an Ebay auction for a game I wanted badly. Nothing mega exciting, but I'll post pics in my blog when I get it.

I could careless really. I have never gotten a chance to play CT before. So I'm just happy to get to chance to play it legally.

My rest of the year:

Yakuza 2
Force Unleashed
Dead Space
Mirrors Edge
Sonic Unleashed
Prince of Persia
Resistance 2

The only ones I know I'll be getting at release are Sonic, Yakuza, and Resistance. The rest are wait and see. Prince of Persia absolutely, definitely, is not at release though since it's an Ubisoft game.
Otherwise, I love em, because current games aren't as good as older ones.
I disagree with that. I'm different than most gamers my age because I don't hold nostalgia in very high regard. For example, I love CT and can not wait for the DS version. When it was announced I was flipping out, but at the same time I don't think CT is better than games that come out now. Same with FFIV, King of Fighters 98, and other games I loved and still love. The reason being that every year I'm still playing amazing games. Whether it be Mass Effect or Devil May Cry 4.

Eh, I don't attribute it to nostalgia... I mean, yeah, I like older games, but being a youngin', and a stupid one at that, I couldn't play the vast majority of the good stuff out there, or I simply didn't know about it. So now that I can, I'm finding all this shit that's "holy shit" good... I dunno, I just feel like modern stuff is more about putting you in the character's position than straight-up fun, and I don't really like that. It's like games have become less about game design and more about the minor things.

Yeah, I just don't see that at all. I look back and most games back then sucked. There were gems like CT, but for the most part I just didn't like games anywhere near as much as I do now.

I'll take a Knights of the Old Republic or a Suikoden V over CT any day. Yeah, I said it. Let the flaming commence.

Waaat?! Suikoden freakin' 5!? Geh! Gah! Guh!

I could be finished with CT in the time it takes Suikoden V to become decent.

EEEYYYYAAAAAAHHHH

DAAH

*dies*

I disagreed with that as well. I didn't see the beginning of Suikoden 5 as bad at all. Yeah, it was slower than the rest of the game but I still enjoyed it. Needless to say, once the story picked up it was fucking amazing.

And you're right, you would have finished CT before playing through even half of Suikoden 5 since CT is only like 25 hours long lol.

Well either way, it's not like I'm saying current stuff is bad or anything, but most games just aren't quite as exciting to me now.

Though Suikoden V... man...

Edit: Oh, but I am completely sure that this is the worst generation of gaming ever. Well, except for everything prior to the SNES and Genesis era.)

I think that I'm just becoming burnt out on gaming. I used to be anticipating games all the time, but now, I don't care for 95% of what gets released. I still find some good games, and I still love fighters, but I don't get into most games like I used to. I don't know if it's a quality thing, or if they are just missing that special "something" that made me love games to begin with, or maybe it's just me. This generation just bores me most of the time. Everything seems to be about graphics and atmosphere rather than good gameplay.

Nope. I think SNES/Genesis era was worse. The NES era being my least favorite.

Any generation that gives me Mass Effect, Bioshock, Portal, Devil May Cry 4, Uncharted, MGS4, Rock Band, No More Heroes, Oblivion, etc. Has already given me far more than any generation except for the one prior to the current.

exactly what i think....i dont got the same fire for gaming as i did in the NES - PS2 era..even then, im not excited about the new ps2 games coming out...i hope Yakuza 2 fixes this

I'm going Soul Calibur IV hunting tomorrow after work. I have located two independent game stores near me that I will be calling tomorrow and hopefully they got the game in early and they are willing to sell it.

side note: Wouldn't it be awesome if Microsoft let us use external hard drives for the install a game feature in the fall update?

Beat BioShock for the 1st time today
last level and last boss basically made the game for me

Impressive game but I'm pretty sure I enjoyed The Darkness as a whole more than it. The developer though, 2K Games, is quite astonishing to say the least as they put two quality titles out in the span of one year, let alone one summer.

Neither one is overly long or hard (wow, did I just say that?) but they both provide a challenge and good stories (even though I didn't really follow in Bio because of how it was setup).

Anyways, I've fed my taste for fps's...start Gtaiv or fable:tlc today?
fuck you, HDTV. Fixed.
How?

They managed to screw up FFIV GBA with battle lag. I wouldn't put anything past them.

Same publisher, not the same developer. Darkness was made by Starbreeze.

That's true, though I think FFIV Advance was farmed out TOSE, while Chrono Trigger is being done by Square itself. People's impressions of the E3 build of the game seem completely positive, so I'm hoping it'll turn out.

Guys, for the first time, I feel happy that I traded games in at Gamestop...
Okay, so you all know the Trade Two Next-Gen Games, get an extra $10 in credit deal?
That ended today.
So I ran down to the store...
And I went to trade in 6 Games...
Guitar Hero 2 (Disc Only)
Blue Dragon
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Gears of War
Virtua Fighter 5 (360 Version)
The Orange Box (360 Version)

And I got 92 dollars in credit.
Plus an Edge card and GameInformer subscription!
Holy shit.
That's... incredible.
The lady who did the trade-in asked if I had an edge card, and I said no, so she said she was gonna get me one for free...
So what she did was add the 10% to my trade-ins, so I ended up with 107 dollars, and then charged me for the Edge Card.

How fucking awesome is that...
I wish I would have traded in another 6 games. That way I could pay off Guitar Hero 4 in full.

But still, I'm VERY happy.

Well when you sign up for an Edge card it goes into effect automatically, so she didn't really do anything lol.

Call in to cags eat free or whatever that number is and tell your gamestop story to cheapy for a chance to win $100 GC.

Dark Knight was excellent. All the hype is warranted.

I dunno whether to keep lvl'ing my 12 gnome mage or crack open GRiD tonight. :p

You're right. :whistle2:#
Well, they were behind an easily missed gem in Riddick on xbox, iirc

Anyways, Fable or Gta today? (just looking for a nod to either one)
Well when you sign up for an Edge card it goes into effect automatically, so she didn't really do anything lol.
Wow.
So all she did was sign me up for an Edge Card without consent?
Asshole.
:p

I guess the 10% paid it off...
Nope, it didn't
I think I feel MORE ripped off now. xD

You didn't get it for free. You got it for $5. So yeah...

Yep.
I figured that out.
Friggin liars. xD
Oh well, i'm happy.
No complaints, even with 92 dollars in credit.

PSP out of batteries... trying to level up an Axe in item world...

Fatal Frame 3 tonite... get mad skurred
maya-surprisedb.gif

might go get ramen tomorrow ^_^b

I want to trade some games in to GS for my SCIV preorder, but I already took out a big chunk of my crappy games when I bought MGS4 LE and Ninja Gaiden 2. I do have $30 down on it, but I'd like to pay it off without using cash.

For the record, I traded in GRAW, GRAW 2, Halo 3, Smackdown 2007 and 2008, The Outfit, Ridge Racer 6, Condemned, DMC4 PS3, and GTAIV PS3. I got $176 in credit thanks to the trade 2 get $10 extra, my edge card, and the extra 20% towards MGS4.
How?
It was a problem with the settings on my Digital Cable box.

Also, the last boss of Bioshock was the worst part of a great game.

I played some Civ Rev and fell in love with it. The second difficulty level is much harder than the first. I like having my hand held :( .

I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to get GH4 and RB2 game only or RB2 and GH4 game only.

I just want the RB2 LE drums. Haven't seen any pre-orders for that one yet, though.

Since the RB2 drums are so asskick, I can now pass on GH4 instruments...I think.

I was thinking the same.
It's more about which one has the better instruments.
Cause I'll be buying both.
Just one Disc Only, and the other in a bundle.
What's the verdict guys?
I really like the touch pad on the Guitar hero guitar.
And the cymbals on the Guitar Hero drums...

been gone all day with family... I hate weekdays due to college classes ( ie. I'm pasrtially hispanic but hate spanish) but at least it's almost over. Strangely, I got my entire family to play flOw on my PS3... everyone loved the hell out of it. It was a random moment I was never expecting.

I'm planning on getting Rock Band 2 but probably on PS3 since that's the living room with my family.
¿Hola Rolento, cómo estás? ;)

Es mal >_< ?

don't remind me. At least in art school the work is super hard but fun and very rewarding.

as a heads up Little Big Planet will possibly allow users to charge for their level designs... I'm kinda glad due to the fact that I'll be creating alot of original textures and designs to basically make the game not look familiar.
well at least both instruments are compatible with each others games

though im thinkin rb2 drums and gh guitar
Same, except I went PS3 for GH3 and 360 for RB. :p
