I'm on the way to meet Pigsy.

There's just too much combat in the game with how bad the combat is.
Well if you hate the combat, then I doubt you'll end up liking the game. If you want though, since you are so close to meeting Pigsy, it might be worthwhile to at least meet up with him to see if his character makes you more interested in the game. I don't think there is too much combat during the parts leading up to him. If he doesn't change your mind though, then you should just quit.

I don't really like the characters either. Tripp is so selfish and Monkey has no self respect and does whatever she says. I mean I know he has the headband, but come on...

Do characters need to be likable to be good characters? I'm not even sure I know the answer to that question.

Trying to think of examples, the first thing that comes to mind is Lost..

Why would you want to meet pigsy? Dude's fucking terrifying.

Well Pigsy is basically the comic relief character, so you might like him then. He definitely adds a nice bit of change to the story/dialogue. Plus Monkey and Trip develop more as the game goes on, so you might end up liking them a bit more. I don't think they are meant to be immediately likeable from the start. They are meant to grow on you over the course of the game. So I dunno, you might want to give it another chance, but it sounds like it may just not be your thing.

How much would you say is left of the game if I'm on the boat on the way to Pigsy? If it's not too much more I may try to finish it.

You're about halfway there.

I think you're on chapter 9, and there are 14 chapters, so you're probably about 3-4 hours from the end.
I don't know if I can bring myself to finish Enslaved. Not really enjoying it.
Toward the end it gets really clunky, especially hated chapter 13. That was a chore. Can't wait to platinum this ish and list it on eBay.

And Pigsy made me want to snap the disc in half. But then I'd have no platinum and no cash from selling it.
I believe that's with the Brightness set to max.
3 hours with brightness max, 5 without I'd imagine. They listed the XL as up to 17 hours, and I doubt that's with brightness at max.

Expensive system, expensive games, little battery life...I sure hope Nintendo knows what they're doing next to the iPod/iPad with dirt cheap games and huge battery life.

Doesn't matter if you think iOS games suck, kids/parents don't see a difference.

I have faith in Nintendo, since they've been ruling the portable world from the start, but Im curious to see how it will all play out.

Wait...Kotaku is saying 3-5 hours with the brightness down...ouch.

When the DS came out they said like 8 hours for the battery, but I could easily get 20 per charge early on.

I know people bring up the PSP when comparing the battery life, but the big difference between the DS and the PSP is that when the system was off, the battery didn't drain like crazy when it was off. You wouldn't believe how many times I've gone to pickup and play my PSP only to find that the battery is dead, so I just end up playing the DS.

Yeah thats the worst. My PSP batteries discharge like crazy when not in use. Even over a period of a couple of days.

The person who decided to have an achievement for collecting all these fucking orbs and then deciding to leave all the orbs in the chase scenes at the ends of chapters needs to be dragged out into the street, shot, then drawn and quartered.

You could always not platinum a game you aren't enjoying.

Just sayin'.

Played through Alpha Protocol. Hot damn, that game is WAY better than just about every review I've ever read of it.

Oh, and the video in the OP was definitely muted.

i have never platinumed or 1000'd a game. I'll have 200 on SOTN after a Richter playthrough. Otherwise, there's always a couple achievements that are just too out of the way/difficult to bother with.

Still don't get the timing for those counter attacks in bayonetta, let alone getting 3 in a row! There's like a 2 frame window for those shits.

I rarely do collecting achievements.
Last psp game I played was Chains of Olympus. Any good psp games come out lately?
Ghosts of Sparta. :p

I'm kind of surprised the PSP hasn't seen a glut of 2d platformers. I feel like those are the types of games that work best on it, not crappy 3d games that you can't control the camera because of the lack of a second nub.

Same. Shit drives me nuts. I rarely bother going after achievements anyway unless it's stuff that's fun to do like sidequests in RPGs or doing Horde mode on different maps in Gears 2 etc. anyway.

Maybe you'll get 10 hours with the brightness down and 3d off...

Ditto on that. If they actually played to the system's strengths, the PSP wouldn't be such an abject piece of shit. They really need to stop making so many watered down versions of console games and make something that one perhaps won't find on other systems, like platformers.

Just
started playing Jack
in RDR.
I'm actually really sad to see John go, he quickly became one of my favorite game characters ever.
I'm finishing up my Stranger tasks then I'm going to put it away for a while, all I have left is the Ambient challenges to 100%.

Proud of SeanRRR.

I was much like that too.
Hey computer guys -- check out this 640gb WD portable HD.

Question -- is the drive in that enclosure likely a SATA 5400rpm drive that would work in a PS3? If so, I could get a 640gb drive for the ps3 and put the old 120gb drive in the WD enclosure, no?

Edit: fuckstockings, I forgot to link it. >_<

No, beware:

They use their own special drive.

If you need a sata 2.5" enclosure, I have one you can borrow.

Did you see what I knocked my collection down to, Dallow?

Also, Im gonna follow your lead, 10.00/mo on iOS games is a good idea.

Yeah, that game got shit on unfairly. I'm pretty far in it, need t finish it up so I can roll through it again.

Thanks dallow.

I just figure I'd have to buy another enclosure eventually since I'll have an unused 120gb PS3 2.5 SATA drive kicking around after upgrade. Last time I got one, it ran me ~15, so if the drive was 640gb and fit with good specs, the price seemed good.

Much like JSP though, I'm too attached to even my bad games that I can't get rid of them. They have to be pretty terrible. I'll find a way.

Really good impressions!
Internet play is sweet.

What I find most interesting is the camera/perspective option that can only be played with 3D on. He said it was unplayable in 2D mode.
First time I've heard of this.

This gives me a lot of hope some games will find a way to design a game where 3D is a real gameplay element, rather than just cool eye candy.
Is that all the PSP has to offer? God of War? For shame. :nottalking:
Nah, the PSP does have some decent games to offer. It just happens most of them are RPGs. The only 2 non-rpgs I can thing of off the top of my head are Mega Man Powered up and the Mega Man X remake.
Metal gears if you like shitty controls
The Metal Gear Acid games controlled pretty well. But they were turned based games so...

No wonder I couldn't get any of the loading screen art past 69 when I first played 3D Dot Game Heroes, as it was a bug that was fixed in the first patch. They also added Sackboy and some more characters from the community, so now I'm really looking forward to playing through it again.

Patapon 2
Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero?
PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe
Hot Shots Tennis
MotorStorm: Arctic Edge
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2
Valkyria Chronicles 2

The 3DS battery life is really bad for a company that's always focused on handhelds with a long battery life and to reveal that the new system can't last more than a few hours is pretty bad.

I never understood why the PSP was filled with wanna be PS1-2 games. So many games just don't scale down very well for the small screen. Like others have said, RPGs are one of the fews things that are done well on handhelds these days.

or maybe I just miss having awesome amounts of awesome 2d platformers. NSMB DS & Wii scratched such a good itch. I think I'm gonna pick up either Kirby or DKR soon.

Ohhhh my God, people weren't lying, I just finished Six Feet Under and I sobbed uncontrollably through the whole "Breathe Me" ending.

I'm lookin at stuff like Hard Corps, and I wanna know why we can't get more shit like that on the system. Or why we never got a proper Castlevania. Or why Capcom abandoned the system altogether after Maverick Hunter X and Powered Up...

actually, I think those last two just sold like shit. Oh well.

But the PSP's screen is one that can really make sprites look good.

Well, as long as we get Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment in the US, I have no real complaints. Because those games are gonna be off tha hook!
