I see Rei still has horrible opinions, I'm assuming you're most excited about the inclusion of [insert character you picture while plowing your wife]

I believe Jennifer Hale is voicing Phoenix. So yeah, Capcom is getting all the good VA's. Now if they only had good writers.

Did you always hate Deadpool or is it just recently? I loved him so much in the Cable and Deadpool comics, but I started hating him after he got popular and Marvel decided to flood the market with him. Same way things went with Wolverine to me.

I guess this mean I'll only use Phoenix no matter how bad/great/broken she is.

I've never seen Cowboy Bebop or any of the Wolverine stuff he's done.

Nope, I enjoy it too, I'm more concerned about how the characters play.

It's perfectly legit to be pissed about this horrible character selection. The whole point of a vs game like this is to play with a bunch of characters you know and like and make them punch each other, not fucking she-hulk and vagina-wolverine.

Eh, I dunno, I thought a fighter was always about the gameplay. I can see where you're coming from, though.

If this was just a new street fighter or a new insert standard fighting franchise here, than yeah stuff like WHY IS ____ HERE I WANTED ____ would be dumb, but this is a game built around giving fanservice to two fandoms, and both are getting fucked by horrrrrrrible choices.

So which character is currently missing from the MvC3 line up?

They got Super Skrull, so I'm set.

They're both valid points. But JSP has the right angle for the MvC series for sure (probably the same for the other "versus" games that don't involve marvel and capcom as well). People want to use the fighters from their favorite franchises to beat down all comers. When a ton of characters who aren't really popular get in, people get pissed because someone "took the spot" of their guy.

Crazy rant in spoilers.

Are there choices I dislike on the MvC3 roster? Hell yes. Mostly on the Capcom side (Trish, Spencer, Haggar) although there are a lot of lame ass Marvel characters out there and some of them made it as well (Shulk). Personally, the major irritation on my part is from the fact that I don't like almost any of the characters; almost all of my favorites have been left out. Will I still play the game? Yes. Will I love it as much as I should considering it's a sequel that took over 10 years to materialize? fuck no.

I mean, I'm sitting here with Dante as a lock for my team and wondering who the hell I'm going to choose to go with him. Nobody else screams at me "dude, I'm fucking awesome, you love me, put me on your team." I like some of the characters chosen that I wasn't aware of before (Dormammu, primarily) but his gameplay doesn't look like he'd fit my tastes. That's disappointing. I'm also disappointed with design choices (as voiced earlier in the thread) such as Spencer's magically changing bionic arm -- if you can't do the character correctly, choose a viable replacement. Include Doctor Octopus from Marvel and put Gene from Godhand in or something.

All said, I just want MvC3 to be an amazing game and can't wait to get my hands on it in hopes that whatever the end product is is still fun to play and will lay a good foundation for future entries in the series.

At least for MvC it's characters and not costumes. It still stinks that they're going to be on the disc more than likely.

As for the roster, I think it's okay. I'd like Mega Man X more than Zero.
I see Rei still has horrible opinions, I'm assuming you're most excited about the inclusion of [insert character you picture while plowing your wife]
Actually I'm not that excited about the game at all. That being said, let me know when you get a girlfriend, let alone a wife and a family. Also do you even read comics? My hate of Deadpool stems from the four ongoings a month that he gets while more deserving characters get pushed to the wayside. That being said, other than the X books I don't read much Marvel (always been mainly DC). Which is why I'm especially pissed he's on X-Force right now.

I enjoy laughing at people who actually like Deadpool. He wore out his gimmick years ago, and the fact that this character that should be regulated to guest appearances has the popularity he does is disgusting. "Look he's a badass and he breaks the 4th wall!" Everytime I see him it just reminds me how much comics sucked in the 90s...

I just think it's crazy that the X-Men representation went down from
Gambit
Cyclops
Cable
Psylocke
Rogue
Wolverine
Storm
Marrow
Iceman
Colossus
Magneto,
Sabretooth
Spiral
Omega Red
Silver Samurai
Sentinel

to

Wolverine
X-23
Storm
Phoenix
Deadpool
Magneto

Then look at the representation for the rest of Marvel's biggest franchises...

Avengers
Cap
Thor
Iron Man
(Possibly Taskmaster)

Hulk
Hulk
She-Hulk

Spider-man
Spider-Man

Fantastic Four
Super Skrull
Doctor Doom

All Purpose villains
MODOK (seriously...he's fought everyone)

And somehow we're getting 2 Dr. Strange villains in Dormammu and Shuma Gorath. Last time I checked Spider-Man had the arguably best (Batman is the argument) group of villains in comics. Venom(Mac Gargan) and the Green Goblin have been super high profile in the entire Marvel universe in the past 4-5 years.

Keep in mind the roster for MvC3 is going to be smaller than the roster for the previous games. Of course that could be changed with DLC...

Wasn't MvC2 56?
MvC3 is currently at 32 with another 4 characters rumoured based on the "leak" [Akuma, Taskmaster, Lei Lei, Sentinel]. That's 36. Add in the 2 known DLC characters. 38. Even if there are only 6 DLC characters total as speculated by character select screen, that's 42 total. We're getting closer to 56... ^_^

I only know the mainstream X-Men for the most part. Cartoon series, movies, some comics from back in the 90s when I was in high school and one of my buddies was a comic collector.

I'm not sure if Deadpool became a regular occurring X-Men member after all that, but I don't actively associate him with that series. X-23 makes sense because of the Wolverine ties, but again, if people know her, is it from X-Men or from something else.

It's a damn shame too, because there are so many awesome X-Men that could've been included. :3

Phoenix is in, so I could care less about everyone else. Although I am eager to see how Ameratsau(or however you spell her name) plays out.

Quick question, anyone besides Bear live in the LA area?

Amaterasu.

People seem to enjoy X-23 a lot more now than when she first debuted - mostly through the New X-Men and X-Force books. It could have been worse, we could have gotten Daken instead.

This is true. For being a "wolverine clone", at least she seems to play much differently and has a design much easier on the eyes than that of Daken.

Thats still less. :p But I really wouldn't be shocked to see it hit 56(or more) with DLC.

Also, I think X-23 first appeared in the X-men: Evolution cartoon and then got a mini-series. So she is probably better known from the comics.

I didn't mean to say that there should be that many X-Men in the game. I think Iceman will still happen since there's that comment about how Silver Surfer would have looked too similar.

I would also definitely give up She-Hulk for Rogue or Luke Cage as the grappler type to go against Haggar.

I don't even know who Taskmaster or Lei Lei is.

She's Hsien-Ko in the US

and this is Taskmaster (not sure which look they would use)

I'm guessing they would use the modern look since they could probably just patch him together with Dante/Deadpool/Cap/Wolverine attacks. His deal is that he can learn any fighting style by watching it and that costume also had tech that could make energy versions of Cap's shield and Wolverine's claws.

Of course not ya nerd. and be sure to let me know when your wife finds that stuff you have hidden away and your sham of a family dissolves.

All this character bitching is boring, let's discuss the mechanics of the engine instead. Why bother making it a button + a direction to counter your opponent's exchange in mid-air if mashing it out works? I mean, c'mon, really?

This...I tuned out of that pages and pages and pages ago. :p

And for the record, I had nothing to do with what happened to JSP.

Some people don't play with others, take things more than a little over the line, and they'll be spending a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Sorry for the interruption. Please carry on, minus the offending individual.

I just wish MvC3 had more cute and silly characters. I mean they have a few, but it feels like most of the cast is all one general type of character (kind of the typical bad-ass archetype), which is fine but I'd like more variety.
