GGT 69 Wants to Party all the tim3!
Wow. 3DS is looking like a complete fail. Friend Codes? Terrible. Region Locked? fucking Terrible.

Sounds familiar. . .
Wow. Wii is looking like a complete fail. Friend Codes? Terrible. Region Locked? fucking Terrible.

Nintendo is just asking for the Wii to be hacked within the first month.
Oh yeah, that's right. ^__^

Yeah, I don't see why anyone would be surprised by that news of the 3DS.

Nintendo is the Apple of gaming when it comes to keeping the system very closed and restrictive. And it's not like this friend code nonsense wasn't there on the Wii and DS, so no reason to expect a change for this as they'll always tout the need to keep the kiddies safe.

With the Wii though it was their first "real" online console, and consoles are usually region locked anyway.

With handhelds though, you expect those to be region free and you'd figure Nintendo would know Friend Codes are complete bull shit now.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Besides, do you think Nintendo wants to spend more than the bare minimum for online? And region lockouts are beyond just adding in tabs to make the cartridges not fit like they used to do. They know most don't care about imports. I totally hate region lockouts.

They don't want you playing that Hotel Dusk 3D without their permission, after all. ^__^
Uhhhh, I'll play Ken?
No you won't. I'll destroy you. If I'm banned from picking Chun, it's Ken all the way.
I felt like i was never filling up my combo meter thing, so I was always low on health.
That means you're doing it wrong. ;)
Sakura, Rose, and Dan were in SFIV, all from Alpha. I'll admit the original had no 3s.
What about Gen? He was in SFIV too.
No you won't.
Damn skippy. Because I will.

Exactly. They just don't give a crap about online gaming. Their target market is kids and families. Not saying their games or kiddy or anything like that, just that's where their main focus is marketing wise.

Online play is just an after thought to semi throw the core gamers a bone. And they've never been supportive of importing etc., so that's nothing new.

It sucks, but it's just the way they've always been and probably always will be. Just like Apple is going to be very restrictive of their devices and what can go in their App store etc.

These are things 90% of the people buying it won't care about.

That is probably the only thing that would make me cared about the region lock.
These are things 90% of the people buying it won't care about.
Agreed, not a lot of people import games; and I don't see online being too important (for America at least) until we are able to have enough wireless coverage that we can play in more places than at home, since I think for a lot of gamers if your going to play something online and you're already at home where you are most likely to have WiFi you probably have a home console or PC you could play instead. Also, as already mentioned Nintendo targets a different demographic than the other consoles, and they have proven that not having (much) online play has no real weight on whether their target demographic purchases their consoles.
Agreed, not a lot of people import games;
A lot of my fighters are imported. =(

They still lost a few sales over this, at least. Hell, it probably cost them money to add this crap too. Seems pretty counter productive, even if it probably is to please publishers.

It cost then no money probably. Set region in system, game checks region, denies anything but the specified region. Like what, 3 lines of code?

If JAP then NO PLAY

Unless it changes this next gen I can't imagine too many great fighters being on handhelds, and even if they were I couldn't play them for any extended period of time or my hands would break off (even more so on the 3DS, look where that D-Pad is! :puke:)
Man, my hands be TWISTED into knots.
Shoulda hit the books. (Instead of playing fighters on that 3DS) :shame:

Let's just say that's how they did it. That's 3 lines of code they could have avoided adding and not lose sales!

I don't care, I still want the option!

I can't help it, 3D Chun Li. . . :drool::drool::drool: :joystick:

Just import one. That's what true ballahs do.

3D Gun-Lee :drool::drool::drool:
Well, Chun Li has tits, Gun-Lee has pecs. . . :whistle2:k
All the better to pick you up and bear hug you with.

Chun Li does have those lovable Thunder Thighs though :whistle2:k.

I'd be paying $500 minimum for a portable just to play games from both regions ... no.

Lock on and won't let go, get wrapped up like a python strangling a baby chimp.

Sounds like a good investment to me.

Just goes to show Kinect is not only innovative and fun, but also good for your health. Best invention of the last 100 years? I'd say so.

Kinect seems like such a good idea in practice, but no one (except for the community that is hacking it) is thinking outside the box with it.
Can't wait for the injury lawsuits when some kid tears his groin trying to roundhouse in Generic Kinect Fighter 8.
It won't be me. I roundhouse like a pro.

The current Kinekt fighter plays like ass. It won't even respond correctly to your movements. I pity the fools who bought that one.

Also: Gun-Lee will stomp a mud hole in ya and walk ya dry.
He is SF1.
Yeah, but SF1 was terrible. If we accepted it as a real game, then Ryu should be a ginger. ;)
I was going to say Gen must've shown up in the Alpha series, since I never really played it.

Gosh damn, Phantasy Star Portable 2 is the business. I already DL'd Undead Nightmare, but at the rate I'm going I won't be touching it ever.

If more than 10 people used Gen, then people might consider acknowledging him.

You up for co op?
Dead Nation is both good and unbelievably aggravating at the same time.
I've been thinking about picking that up.

Frost, Where do I buy the TEasy and Dual Strike boards shown in this guide The whole fighting game community is a wee bit new to me.
