Played a good 2 hours straight of Bionic Commando Rearmed. Which isn't that much, I guess, but it was damn fun. It's nice to play fun games.

Puma, should've just jumped into part 2 straight away like me. It's the hip thing to do!

Gosh I hate meetings where 50% of the time people are just staring at each other saying nothing.

I was gonna, but I got yelled at so yeah.

Portal is really fun, but really easy when you already beat over half of it. I got to chamber 14 in like 20 minutes. >.
whooo! got sum shyt today!!

hook it up hook it up!!
Damn you! I'm waiting for my copy of Yggrda Union to ship. I never picked it up on the GBA for some reason...

yoyo!!

I finished watching screwattacks' top 10 Genesis games

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40042.html

and at the end they say they wanna get the community to vote on the best game music for their next top list.

so first of all, Ducktales' Moon stage BETTER be on that list!!

but what I really wanna say is,

there's a lot of great music that gets recognition, but one that I dont see brought up quite often is as so:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIP0TxIb8zg

one of the best ways to start a freakin game off!!!

respect!!

and btw Mario better not make the list too! or Zelda!

yeay their songs are quite iconic but seriously... other games' music shyt all over them!!

o yah on the same topic, japanese forum 2ch made their own top 20 game music recently

link: http://nicozon.blog64.fc2.com/?video_id=sm4603463

I dont got the full list on me... and the video is 44 minutes long...

so... I'm letting it play in the background rite now!!!

-EDIT-

if anybody has a screwattack forum account can u search the thread and see how many votes Ducktales even has???

http://screwattack.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=35750

I'm afraid that gamers dont kno their shyt... like apocalypse afraid!!!

Oooooooh shit! That was an awesome top 10 list mang!

Castlevania, vectorman, Rocket knight adventures and......STRIDER!!!!!!!!

I thought phantasy star IV was better than II but whatev!

Force Unleashed is a lot of fun. Playing as Vader was so awesome...

An ok list from 2ch. My problem with a lot of those game music lists is that people let nostalgia get in the way too much. That DQ3 track as number 1? Seriously? There were tracks on that list that were far better than that one. Not to mention a lot of omissions. Zero was the only AC track? Nothing from Fukusawa? The Moon wasn't on there!? Yeah, disappointing.

I've only got a few levels left in Bionic Commando... the game is surprisingly lengthy for something based on an NES platformer. Should finish it off tomorrow. Also, the challenge rooms are damn addictive. So fun.

Argh...this dungeon in Tales of Vesperia is so annoying. It's long, I'm basically out of healing items (except life bottles, but those are dwindling too) and I don't have a healer in my party. At least the save points in this dungeon heal me or else I'd be going in and out of the dungeon for a few hours. I think I needed to be a bit more leveled up before coming here.

I'm probably not gonna start playing through Dragon Quest IV until I go on my Hong Kong trip.

I want something to fall back on just in case I'm hella bored/can't access the arcades there.

whooo! Dark Alex is the freakin MAN!!

I couldnt play Yggdra Union coz it required 3.95 and I had 3.90, so using network update I was able to get 4.01 M33-2 totally easy mode!!

the only hiccup I had was battery level... I was 3% away from the minimum required charge so I had to plug the thing into the wall for a bit...

but umm... I only played the 1st stage of Yggdra Union so I cant say anything other than the game is dang confusing!!

it's real pretty too!

I know which dungeon you are talking about. I just ended up avoiding every fight that I could in order to save items for the boss.

I actually had no problem during that part. I was probably a few levels over though. I explored every room possible at the time and made sure to go back to the auto healing save points whenever things looked like it could turn bad. Avoiding enemies also helped.

Also yes, Yggdra Union for PSP is great.

Yggdra isn't a word.

I traded in some stuffs and got like $175 shamebucks! As it stands now, I've paid off Fallout 3, Gears 2, Far Cry 2, and Left 4 Dead!! Plus I got DQ4 and a points card today, woo!

I "tried out" the PSP version of Force Unleashed for a while (Don't worry I deleted it) and it's actually really, really good. It's the same simple, dumb mash x button to win basic gameplay with force powers you don't really need to use, but it's pretty for a handheld game, and the simplicity would have gone over better if it hadn't been trumpeted as this huge, epic next gen experience.

If TFU was announced as a PSP and DS title only, it' be getting high 8s instead of low 7s. Instead they're seen as watered down versions of a mediocre console game, instead of impressive handheld titles.

However, Quick Time Events are the WORST. So is game design that lets you die and get back up with full health and all the enemies you've killed previously still defeated.

They should make a Ninja Gaiden style Star Wars game.. After this puke flavored God Of War ripoff nonsense..

Is there a written list somewhere? Now I'm curious. I've never heard anything from DQ3, but although Dragon Quest music isn't overly fantastic, but it is generally very good.

Also, isn't 2ch a Japanese site? Maybe DuckTales was never released in Japan

It's half of Yggdrasil, which is a word.

According to GameFAQs, it was released as Wanpaku Duck Yume Bouken. So, something about a dream? According to the dictionary, it's something like Naughty Duck Dream Adventure.

Edit: Looks like DQIV sold out at CC.com within the last half hour. Either they didn't have many in the first place, or that's good news!

o_O

Anyway, "The Moon" is a good track, but I can think of better >_>

Goddamn, it's annoying just to look at the Strong Bad games:

Ha ha. I just annoyed you all.

Why does budget game almost always = looks absolutely balls?

Dang, Castlevania: OoE is looking so awesome. Anyone who doesn't get it will be laughed at and ridiculed.

Playing a lot of FFX-2. About half-way thru it I guess.

What where you expecting the strong bad game to look like? If anything more than what the cartoon looks like, then you'd be dreaming.

The amateurish look goes along with the style of the cartoon. It works, if you're not seeing it out of context. And the strongbad game looks a lot better in motion, like most flat shaded things.

So my girlfriend decided to surprise me yesterday. She came up to visit which is always nice. But she came baring gifts! She got me Force Unleashed, which I'm very excited about. It was like a "hey, I know you wanted this, but ran out of cash because your car broke down" gift. Which I'm not against, because it's definitely a fun game, but it ranks even higher because I didn't pay for it. So far I'm almost done the second level and I'd give it a 7, but that could change depending on what kind of "holy shit!" moments might be in the game.

Other than that, I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon while I wait for my PS3 to be unblocked from the campus's internet.

GGT, help me understand why there is unending love for these games on the intertubes:

1. Beyond Good & Evil
2. Sonic CD
3. Mega Man Legends

Sonic CD is good after the first stage. It was a step towards being more of an adventure type game than a straight up speed-fest, but it didn't go too far into adventure territory, unlike... everything post-Genesis.

That's cool, Ahadi. The only things my girlfriend has given me recently are chores. She's leaving to visit her parents in Florida on Friday for their 30th wedding anniversary, so she's like "Do this, and this, and this while I'm gone..." And I'm all "Yeah, right. I'm gonna be playing DQIV, silly girl. Get yo priorities straight." So, now she's threatening to take my DS with her, so I've had to hide it. She's been searching for it when she doesn't think I'm looking. Hahaha, silly girl. She'll never find it.

But speaking of girls and DS games, I was taking my break at work the other day, and there was some celebrity magazine (something like People magazine, but it wasn't People..some other one, IDK). Anyway, I was just thumbing thru it while I ate my Hot Pocket (those new spicy pepperoni ones are way yummy BTW) and I noticed there was an ad for that Mystery Case Files game that was just released. I think its cool that video game companies are reaching out more towards female gamers.

Anyway, I'm gonna have to go out tomorrow and pick up my DQIV. I haven't played thru the original in about 10 years or so. I'm way more excited for this than I was for the FFIV remake.

I've played all three... While I can't explain the endless fanboyism/defense forces for them... I can say the following for each...

1) Good game, I can't believe the price dropped so quickly on it.
2) Awesome intro lol. The game wasn't as memorable for me as Sonic 1 or 2 was though.
3) I thought it was average to be honest. Best thing to come out of this was T. Bonne and Kobun. ;x

1. Great adventure game with lots of different gameplay elements that work pretty well- collecting, stealth, puzzle, action, light sailing, photography etc. Pretty fun story line.

2. I dunno.

3. I....dunno.

1. Can't comment
2. Possibly the best damned Sonic game ever to come out... at the time.
3. You kind of had to play it at the time. Doesn't seem to have aged well imo. Playing it back then though was awesome and epic as hell.
lol, collecting, stealth, sailing, and photography are almost always bad when thrown into a random adventure game.
It works well in BG+E. The controls are simplified and there's good incentive to do all of it. They also aren't separate elements. You don't collect 100 little tokens scattered all around the ground for a free life while running around like an idiot. It's like hidden items in a cave you might have to sail to (or use stealth to find a hidden spot) where you can get a pearl (which you use for upgrades.) Then in the same cave are rare animals to photograph, which you get lots of money for, and money is useful in the game too.

It's tastefully done.

but now that I've talked good about the game, the internet backlash will come.

1. Beyond Good & Evil
This one I've never understood either. It's a good game, but far from great. It just seemed like Zelda-lite to me.

Lack of enemies, really no items (just your staff and the disc shooter on your camera) so the puzzles are bland, annoying stealth sections, short game (10-12 hours). Story and graphics were nice, but it was just nothing special IMO.

At best a 7.5-8.0 IMO.

I been meaning to play Beyond Good and Evil for a long time , but had a hard time finding it to play it. Just got it in from Goozex a few weeks ago , now I just need to find the time to play it.

I want Mega Man Legends 3. No The Misadventures of Tron Bonn and that cell phone game that capcom is working on don't count.:nottalking:
