Fighters are awesome--you must make time.

Why can't you just play them all at once? It's not like other games where you sit down and beat. You play it for years to come with friends. Just look at Super Turbo or UMK3.

I mean, you sit down with somebody, play it for an hour or two and done! You shelve it and wait until your friend wants to play again. Unless you plan to get good at them all, then it's a problem.
Thank you 1up for a better picture of that Samus Cosplayer

There are way too many fighters coming out...
Way too many.

There's no point to all these fighers when the only fighter anyone really needs is
Street Fighter EX 3

This. Personally there will never be to many fighters for me. The more the better. I thought last year was great for fighters and I swear this year seems even better. ^_^

Always loved fighters. Never really learned them. Mostly played with friends back in the day. There's no telling how many hours I put into MK2 back in the day. Fighters are my favorite genre. Even when I'm broke I always buy fighters on release or around release I feel like its that important. I want MK on release day.

My problem is I'm not too experienced with fighters, so it takes me a while to learn even the basics of how to play. It takes me a while just to learn a few characters' specials, let alone combos. If I am constantly switching between 5 different fighters, I'm just going to get everything confused. Plus I would most likely just end up playing one or two and neglecting the others anyway. I'd rather just play a couple now, and then once I get tired of them, I'll get around to the others.

I'm extremely excited for MK.

There hasn't been a real MK for years now. Mk vs DC was sort of entertaining, but not really what I wanted from MK game.

Yeah they finally made a good MK game again. MK vs DC was just ok to me.

You made a few fair points, but once you know fighter fundamentals they usually carry over to other fighters pretty easily, so there's at least that! Beyond that, though, it will require a lot of time and effort to get good at just one of them, and that's just with one character in the game!

Anyway, if you play them casually, you should be fairly satisfied. I'm sure as hell not going to become good at every fighter.

Yeah, I think I'm starting to get to the point where I can learn fighters a little bit quicker, but I still don't think I could deal with 5 at a time. I do play fighters casually, but I still like to be at least decent at them. Otherwise I will just be button mashing.

I won't even play a fighter in this case. Button mashing is just stupid and not fun in any way because you don't know what the fuck you're doing.

And that's exactly why I won't be trying to juggle 5 fighters at once.

Even when juggling 5 fighters, you can still at least play one char and know their BnBs. You just won't be good at it.

I hate sticking with just 1 character though. I'd rather have fun learning a bunch of different characters in a single game than try to learn just a single character in 5 different games with different mechanics.

Fair enough, but in some games, like BBCS, picking up another character makes it feel like an entirely different game. So keep that in mind too.

Yeah, BlazBlue is one game where I wouldn't mind just sticking with 1 or 2 characters, but most everything else (such as MvC3 or SF4) I just like to play all kinds of characters.
Well, 3s online is supposed to be coming out this year, the others are next year I think.
I want 3S online so much. :bouncy:
After all these years there making a River City Ransom 2. Sounds interesting. I hope its actually good. The one on nes was great.
Wha. . .? Let me guess. . .DS?

High res sprite 2D River City Ransom. . .I'd offer my first born daughter for that.
There are way too many fighters coming out...
Lies. Unless they all end up being mediocre like the mid 90s, then it's all lies.

I've been playing fighters since SF2 in the arcade, like 20 years ago. Man, I feel old. I get competent at all that I play, but a lack of competition growing up kept me from really getting great. Now I just play for fun, have a good time, do some crazy combos, have some good matches, etc. :bouncy:

I used to play anything that was a fighter, even if it sucked. Man, those were the days. Rolling fools at Primal Rage and Mace the Dark Ages in the arcade was a blast.

For the record, I don't care for SFIV all that much. ST > SFIV. ^__^
There's too many fighting games for me to play at once. First of all I'm still playing MvC3, then I just ordered BB:CS last night, then at the end of March I'm getting SSF4 3D, and next month has both Arcana Heart 3 and MK.
Good look on BBCS. I have that. And I haven't put a "I won't play until next patch" limitation on it, like some people in here.

Enjoy relearning the entire game when the CS2 patch drops. You know those BnBs you'll learn? Yea, say goodbye to them in CS2!
Yeah, I'll buy BBCS2 ^_^

Didn't get CS1, despite really liking the original game... :whistle2:k
I didn't buy it either, mainly due to DLC character rape. Seems that's the new trend now.

So even though I haven't played it yet, and won't be able to for a while, Yakuza 4 being on sale day 1 is pretty rad of Best Buy... I hope that discounting games that obviously won't sell on day 1 becomes a trend, because most of what I play is fairly niche anyway.

But I don't play NIS games cuz I ain't a fairy.
Button mashing is just stupid and not fun in any way because you don't know what the fuck you're doing.
That sounds like every fighter I play. Like I mean I usually know the specials moves for the characters I try to play as (although my ability to execute even those isn't great, i.e. double quarter circle on a stick I still don't always do right... but only when facing one direction other direction I can usually pull it off every time, so I can't figure out if my stick just acts funny in one direction or if I just don't do the same motion when trying to do it going from facing right to facing left). But performing any kind of combo outside of training mode is typically a no go for me.
I hope they won't name the next BB Continuum Shift 2, I'd like an more original title.
Too late, CS2 is already out in arcades in Japan.

CS2 is supposed to be a free patch, bro. You're gonna have to buy that shit anyway.

They said River City Ransom 2 was console/pc release.

I use to play Primal Rage and several other fighters that wasn't that great. I liked Time Killers when it was in the arcade. It seemed cool at the time, but I played it recently and its completely terrible.

Back in the day it was street fighter and mortal kombat mostly.

I think you overestimate my ability to learn BnBs.
I think the only game I know them in somewhat is MvC3.
My extent of BnBs in SSF4 is jab.jab.jab.strong.super. :bouncy:

Gotta get down to the bus stop

Gotta catch the bus

I see my friends!

This song is genius.

Also taught me that if today is Friday, Thursday was yesterday. Who knew?

My friends have succumbed to the League of Legends community syndrome -- they take it so seriously I don't even enjoy playing with them anymore.

And it's funny because they used to laugh at me for broodwar and street fighter (games I take seriously but actually you know, enjoy and laugh at), but when an incredibly easy game comes along that they can succeed at, shit gets serious.

fuck dota communities.

Sounds like every RTS type game I've ever tried to play (including League of Legends). Community isn't friendly at all, especially to someone trying to learn how to play that game (or genre of game).

Change cocaine to Amp and I've been there.

You guys should get serious, JSP.
