Are you kiddingme, when was the last time you looked at FFXII? THe damn thing goes for like $15 now!
I'm talking about new, not used.

I put my P3 on eBay about a week before FES came out and it got about $55. I was more than pleased. I don't understand why anyone would want it over FES. Even if you are a collector there's really nothing too collect.

Its still a box set with extras and looks nice there. Dont get me wrong its no Lunar or anything....sigh wish more games went back to doing stuff like that. Only game that I bought at full price and had drop in value and I still didnt feel cheated was World of Warcraft Burning Crusade. Atleast it came in a huge ass box with lots of nice extras.

The P3 special edition was my favorite kind. Small box, nice hardbound art book and a soundtrack plus the regular game inside.

Lunar had too much crap like necklaces and such.

P3 Special Edition seemed like an excuse to sell it for $50 on a dying system. Oh well, at least it came out in the states. I shouldn't complain so much.

Actually, the game featured competitive graphics and I believe progressive scan support.

Definitely better looking than Enchanted Arms, which charged more for its art book.

It was one of the most worthy full-priced games for the system I think.

FF XII was outdated and bland when it came out, it should have been a budget game but they spent too much making it.
Well Amazon seems to be getting a restock soon so order it there if you can't find it.
Where did you hear this? Again makes me feel like I should just cancle and wait. If my gut is right and it drops ill probally save like $40...where I guess if im wrong at best I save like $20(doubt this will break $100 less its limited to like 10,000 copies).

Well some of the completed auction already went over $100 shipped. The question is are they going to print more copies 2 months later? Most B&M store only got a few copies if that tells you anything.

Ya but if Amazon gets new stock in. And besides that look at it this way, how many games collectors edition or not can you name that go for over $100? There are only a few games that really go for that much, even older stuff like the Lunars at their peak didnt break $100. Thus why I said at worst I dont see this breaking $100. Yes right now it might, stuff always does right after launch but just like Mana Khemia people will calm and at worst this stays at $100 but more likely it drops or maintains value.

There are very very few games out there that are worth over $100. Hell, even Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS2 is under 100. So is Final Fantasy VII.

Anybody know when the waitress game becomes available in ToV? I'm trying to get alt. costumes but so far I've gotten nothing. I don't count Judy's knight costume as there's no way you can miss that. Right now I'm in the Hercules and it looks like the ending is near. I don't know about anyone else but I got titles easier in ToS than ToV.

Go to Amazon.com, it states they are taking pre-orders for mid-September.

Personally I hate metal cases and I like the regular cover art better.

I'm also hoping a PS3 version comes out next summer.

Thats part of the other reason I canceled, because I have a feeling we will see a PS3 version possibly with extra content.

I like the ToV LE cover art better. I thought the normal cover art looks pretty lazy.

I'm still wondering why people think we'll see the PS3 version come to the US... Don't get me wrong I could care less if it comes here(I'll buy it again if that is the case), but I don't see why they would waste money bringing over a port that probably wouldn't sell that well.

Porting the game is going to be much less costly than it originally cost to develop. With less cost involved, I'm sure Bamco can justify the port for some more money.

ES doesn't have a history of selling poorly in the US like the Tales series. Even if it costs less money to do a port they won't waste time or money bringing over a port if they think it'll sell poorly.

In the past id agree fully. But its becoming cheaper and easier for them to do these ports and its also more and more something they have to do. Its rare that games arnt multi console anymore it seems.

Uh, Tales of Symphonia sold over half a million in the U.S.

Eternal Sonata sold less than 200,000.

We don't know anything, but it seems likely that ToV will show up on the PS3.

Well it was an RPG on the Gamecube... And despite it selling well we never saw the PS2 port over here.

You could make the same argument now. "ToV was an RPG on the PS3." I don't see the PS3 becoming inundated with RPG titles in the next year, so ToV has a good chance of succeeding.

As for the Symphonia port - Nintendo footed the money for the translation, from what I recall. That in addition to the already immense RPG library on the PS2 led to it not being released Stateside.

I've put a couple more hours into FFX-2. Total time is almost 15 hours in, and completion is around 35%. Not too bad. The game's a little more fun than I had expected it to be. I am kinda following a FAQ half-assed, just so I can get the best ending but it doesn't have any spoilers and most of the time I just reference it to see where I should be going to next without screwing something up. I don't normally follow FAQs on my first playthru, but a friend suggested that the game would be more enjoyable if I followed one for this game.

How does everyone else here like to deal with FAQs and guides with RPGs? Do you usually use them on your first playthru? Or do you like to wing it and figure everything out for yourself?

I try to use them as little as possible. There are a few times when the game may not explain things too well or I might be stuck so where for a while. So I'll go look one up and see what needs to be done. Occasionally I might check one out to see where I might find a few side quests.

Nintendo had a hand in the US translation for ToS so there were legal reasons it couldnt happan is what I always read. So that makes a big difference over ToV. Consider too that the game was released in Japan where the 360 isnt a hot system. Again it makes me all the more guess that they see a PS3 release and if they take the time to do that then naturally it wont cost them much to slap US Dialouge in and port it the US.

I do use a faqs but not for walkthroughs. Pretty much for secrets, or boss strategies. Normally I don't care about doing 100% of everything. The only series I try and do everything is Suikoden & SMT, but that's when I buy a guide.

I pretty much only use FAQs on Suikoden and SMT too. Suikoden for the characters, and SMT for the boss battles.

I just entered the final dungeon of DDS2. What the hell is up with
Seraph.
It's creepy.

I only use FAQs or guides if I'm stuck or looking to find all the secrets from the game. Although it really does help with Suikiden, for sure. I usually don't get stuck though.
Yeah personally I think Eternal Sonata is pretty indicative. ES was a pretty big failure here and it's hitting the PS3 with a deluxe edition.
I've said it before but I think they might be testing the waters with that one. If the ES port sells like crap as well I would imagine that they would think twice before bringing over any other ports.

Agreed if crap means doesnt turn a profit. If it turns even a small profit my guess is we see it port. Developers have said time and time again that its just too hard to not make games multi console nowdays.

Regarding Suikoden , even though I think that this question was asked already either here or maybe in the GGT. I have Suikoden Tactics and Suikoden 4. Chronologically they both take place first in the series ahead of the rest of the games. Should I go ahead and play them first or should I wait to play the other games first (play the series in release order) instead?

This isn't a question of quality (since I've already heard that 4 and tactics aren't the best in the series) but simply a matter of story. Would playing 4 and Tactics first ruin any story elements from the other games in the series?

There is one thing that happens in 4 that is directly connected to 1. I don't think it really ruins anything, though. I'd say that it would probably be better to play it in release order, but I don't think it matters either way.

^ If you want to get the best interpretation of the story I would play it in release order from S1 - SV. Since Suikoden 1 & 2 set the base work for the series every game after that draws connections to & from them.

The
Schtolteheim Reinbach jokes
probably work better if you play I before IV. Though it would be interesting to see
Ted return in I, instead of flashing back to him in IV.

Maybe I'm just crazy, but I'm liking the gameplay of FFX-2 more than I liked FFX. The story was better in X, but I guess I just love the whole dresssphere aspect of the game and being able to change classes.

Anyway, one day I'd like to play all the Suikodens. I really wish they would do a PS2 version of the 1 & 2 reprints they did for the PSP that never got brought over here. At the very least, bring the PSP version over. Did the PS2 Suikodens (3-5 +Tactics) sell all that well in the US?

Yeah, I loved the dress sphere in FFX-2. It's the reason I even played it as long as I did(I think I finally stopped playing somewhere towards the end of the game).

I think FF games are much better when they have the job system. Being able to change mid-battle is just icing on the cake.

I don't think any of the Suikoden games have really sold well, probably decent at best. I think the first one is supposed to show up on the PS3 sometime in the near future, though, that may be in Japan.

I'm moving so close to the end of DDS2. I just entered the 6th layer of the final dungeon.

FF X-2 was ass but the job system is always fun to mess with.

What I think would work best would be a mid-point between full control of job classes and arbitrary assignment. For example, each character would have 5 or 6 jobs rather than 20.

I liked FFVs job system of make whatever party you want. Combining that with characters that have unique abilities/skills that can change and evolve with the base job they are would be my ideal 'job' system.

For example, David the Bard starts off as a bard, and is quite skilled as one, but can be changed to whatever job you pleased. He is skilled musically though so does bonus damage with harps, flutes, bells, etc. So he would work best as a bard, summoner, monster tamer, blue mage, etc. Maybe as a bard his singing boosts party attributes but as a summoner it strengthens the attack of the summon. You get the idea?

That what you were getting at willard?

i didn't like ff5's system because i felt like there wasn't enough reward for levelling your classes. or maybe i just didn't like ff5 as a whole. anyway.

DQ = best class system~
DQ is special ;)

It's like fine wine. An acquired taste.
An aquired taste is something that grows on you. DQ is the opposite, a remnant of the past that lingers on the tongue. Kinda like eating something really gross that you burp up the rest of the day. The people that like it by and large are people that grew up on it.
