Girlfriend + Strict Parents = Me going Crazy!
Not necessarily. I've dated some girls who were orphans & didn't get adopted by loving families. Instead, they grow up w/ their own issues being wards of the state. It amazed me at how damaged they were. I suppose it shows that you don't need a family to damage you, just a traumatic enough experience.
This is why I love CAG. So much experience among its members!

If I would say, "OP, I think you should date a mute Christmas tree," someone would pop up and say "It's not as cool as you'd think..."

God bless CAG!

It's not as cool as you think, the tree wants TONS of presents during Christmas, but always seems to be "out" on your birthday. Also, think of the sap.

To the OP, think long term. Let's just say that you quit college, got a full time job, and took her to the movies. The parents would not just say "ok, you win, do what you want." The parents will come up with some new thing that exerts control. In addition, again longterm, when you marry someone you are also marrying their parents. People almost always turn out like their parents (95%ish in my experience). Even people who are nothing like them in college, turn back to their parents ways later in life. It absolutly amazes me as I have watched it happen to my friends.
