I'm pretty sure they were an amazon selller that screwed me a while ago. I ordered a new game and it came in with a 'certified used' sticker on it and it had obviously been resealed. Theres a reason they have a 96% rating there. A lot of people have complained about them before on this forum. Though usually its for crap like sending the wrong games, canceling orders, ect
definitely a shady company
They're not a shady company. They're a publicly traded company with shareholders to answer to. Lots of people have complained about issues with various things, but they're not out to commit fraud or anything.
GoHastings has no warehouse. Everything is shipped from whatever retail location has it in stock. They

up sending the wrong thing often. You ordered a new game, some employee just read the title on the order form and shoved a used one in the mail. That is a huge

up, but they're not trying to intentionally screw you. Unfortunately some shitty employee

ed up your order, nothing more, nothing less.
I can't find the thread, but someone else complained about this awhile ago(around March?). In fact, I'm pretty sure they also ordered Alpha Protocol new & got an opened copy.
I remember the person complained to gohastings CS about it. Which they apparently got a pissy CS rep. As they were told if they weren't happy with what they got, to ship it back on their own dime for a refund.
So they've been doing for at least 6 months.
Its unfortunate they got a pissy CS rep but other than this story of yours which you are trying to remember from months ago, I've never heard of them telling someone to send back the wrong item on their own dime when Hastings

ed up the order. They have a blanket PDF they can email you to return the item on their dime when they

up with instructions and a shipping label where the post office charges Hastings for shipping when the item arrives back with them.
CaoPi - Hastings screws up all the time, but its incompetence, not fraud. For as many times as I've read complaints of "they've sent me used instead of new" I've seen just as many "Sweet they sent me a factory sealed game instead of a used game."
Like I said before, if you're not happy with accidentally getting a used game, CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE. What good does this thread do you? While it would be bad if this was a widespread problem, maybe it just happened to you (and MAYBE one other person 8 months ago), so just worry about yourself and contact them and get a refund. If customer service blows you off, then go take your story to the Consumerist or something.
