Goozex user rant

i requested Tales of Eternia for the PSP on goozex, awhile back. it finally found a seller that had the game and had agreed to trade it. great! i finally get to play it on my psp. to my surprise, i received the wrong game (darkstalkers for psp). there wasnt even a packing slip included on the package. so i message the seller asking if he sent the game to another user. i didnt get a message after about a day. worried and pissed, i posted on their (goozex's) forums asking for help. alot of them told me to email goozex and the seller.

so a day passed by and i finally received a message from the seller. he stated that he did indeed sent the wrong game to me. basically switched games with another user. i actually helped this guy fix his screw-up. i suggested a few things to him. and he even said he was gonna compensate me for the trouble. so i decided to just charge him $4 for the trouble. basically just paying for shipping & handling.

i finally received the game im supposed to get thanks to the other user who sent it a few weeks later. i left a positive feedback to his account. i then messaged him telling him that i sent it and gave him my email and the delivery confirmation.

i never heard anything from him since then. not even a thank you. i emailed him last week asking for the $4. no replies. maybe he'll see this and come to his senses. at this point i dont think its about the $4. i guess i shouldnt be nice to people. specially on goozex.

i actually thought about sending goozex an email regarding this. but ive never received an email from them about my past problems. so why bother? its like giving someone their phone number and not answering the phone, at all.

the guys name is Angel.Sofiel btw. somehow hes probably gonna see this. so....

update: lurknomore, a fellow CAGer, is a mod on goozex's forums has been nice enough to help me with this and provide the right email to contact. i did receive an email from goozex asking me to contact the user one more time (i actually did a day before posting this thread). i'll email this numbnut again sometime tonight. btw use [email protected] to email them about your problems. youll get a response at least.

Sorry to hear about your experience phear3d, but at least you got the game. ^__^ *waves at fellow Tales of Eternia owner* Not entirely sure what Goozex would do now since you both received the games you are suppose to have received.

The prices for Goozex increase or decrease 50 points a week. Their algorithm does the increasing/decreasing, not the staff members. Just put the game on hold and wait for it to drop back down to the amount of points you feel comfortable with.

the point system is sorta broken now at this point. they really need to do something about that. no ones gonna wanna trade rockband the full bundle for 1000 points. thats just an insult.

With a 1,000 point cap there's some games that will never be traded. Not to mention, even if they didn't have the cap, who the hell would want to pay shipping on Rock Band?

Honestly, there are douches at every trading site. I guess one good thing about Goozex is that it's kept to a minimum since there's no haggling required.

I started using Goozex and I honestly don't see the big deal. The points thing is so stupid... why is it the same amount of points regardless of how I want a game (complete, disc + manual, disc only)? The 1000 point cap sucks too.

Then again, all I've done is send out two games. I don't have any points so I can't receive anything yet.

I had a funny experience recently. See, I have a couple extra copies of NES E-reader games and I put some on Goozex. Well, one guy who got his mint Balloon Fight got all pissy because he didn't understand that you need an E-reader to play the game. What a moron.

case in point, goozex is only good for some games and bad for others.
You can't simply use goozex for all you gaming needs.
I got KOTOR 2 for 200pts (10$) when the going rate is about 15-20 on ebay ... so i went for it ... and got a mint copy.
Also Goozex is very YMMV on condition.
So far i only got 4 games off goozex and they were all games i did research on to see if the price/points is worth it compare to other places.

So yea, i love goozex, but only for some games.

While we're on rants...
why the hell can you only buy 5 points at a time? lameness.
damn, do the numbers ever shift? i've been #50 for Oblivion GOTY since the game came out. actually, i think it's gone up since. i recall being in the 30's.
wutever. I've managed to get some good deals out of Goozex, but at a cost.

Ive had good experiences for the most part on goozex. I've caught a scammer before sending out a game before, and had a game take forever to get here (not the senders fault).

Overall, gotten some pretty decent games.

Persona 3
Odin Sphere
Okami
suikoden V
Magna Carta
Star Ocean : 2nd Story
Atelier Iris 3
Super Paper Mario
Shining Force EXA
MS Saga
.hack vol 3

So ya, can't complain too much =]

I only have a few games that I requested but none are available and there's 40+ turns to go but they're all classic titles. I'm wondering if I'll ever receive anything.

I've been on Goozex since it launched, just about. I haven't traded heavily - I think I sent out about 27/28 games and received about 60 (I primarily trade high-value games and nab up low-point games - my highlight is a complete and mint Electroplankton for 550 points, or equivalent of $27.50, or the trade equivalent of an $11 CC Valkyrie Profile 2 clearance game! :bouncy::bouncy:)

Similar to your story, I had a new trader who sent me Bomberman Generations disc+case instead of a complete Mario Party 4. I contacted him and he apologized for the mishap. Nevertheless, I had a much higher feedback than the party that received MP4 so I asked the seller I dealt with to send MP4 to me, afterwhich I'd send Bomberman Generations. We both received the games we were meant to receive and the seller that did the accidential switch reimbursed us both with $3 to cover the cost of shipping. Truly a great fellow.

There are a lot of new users on the site who registered solely to nab a free 100 point game. The increased demand for good 100 pt games and the dried supply of them has caused many to become 150.

To address sandrokstar - buy 'points at a time'? You mean trade credits? Trade credits can be purchased at various tiers at price points (economy of scale - the more you buy, the larger the discount.) I only buy 5 trade credits at a time since I like paying as I need them. I never buy points though, I do pretty well buying clearance games and trading them on Goozex for good points.

hell it could be worse (cough cough switchplanet) where nothing is ever listed anymore.

18500 pts on goozex 525 pts on switch

LOL i shouldnt have to ever buy a game again.

thinking about getting zelda hourglass Im shocked that is fetching 700 pts

dragon quest monsters is 600.... tooo bad it wasnt 700 i would of done an even swap

i has like 50 people looking to trade it while very few even want it

i hope to grab it around 400 pts or less : )

edit guess not on zelda

22 sellers 20 buyers yet no buyers have open slots
I've caught a scammer before sending out a game before
Details?

i really dont like the idea of giving away points when they sign up.

i've had the 3 BK games on there for awhile i was pretty much at the bottom of the list. i guess they must have changed the new user promo that i was very surprised that someone had requested one of the BK games. i thought it was great but then you came to realize that theyre giving away points while youre actually trying to gain some by trading shit in.

i think for awhile there was alot of scammers just to get a free game. that sorta ruins the pool a bit more than it already has. its very tough (for me at least) to trade back the games i've already gotten through goozex. i dont know how many games they put back in the pool. ive heard people sitting in with like 55k points i cant imagine how long would it take for them to use up all of that if the stream of games are not as constant as it should.
Details?
A guy accepted trades but never sent them out. Then he got points by default when one of the users didn't give him a neg in time. So he got the points from that, and i was next in line for one of his wants.

I just checked his history, noticed the system neg and asked goozex/the user in question about it and they never got the game and told me not to ship.

I have had a good experience on Goozex. I am new to the site about 10 in and 10 out. I like the format, the point fluctuation can be frustruating in that I recieved 500 for an out that is now 550 but on the other side of it, I am sure I have gotten in a game for cheaper than it was the next week too. I hear a lot about scammers and their tatics for bilking people but I have yet to experience it. I haven't bought a game since I started Goozex and have played 10 new games which to me is the goal.

It may not be as heavy, as Rock Band, but I was surprised to actually receive DDR Hottest Party with a Dance Mat. I added it to my requests early on just to see if I could get it.

It all depends on your luck on that site though. I heard someone received a sealed collector's edition of Mass Effect. So that person should be happy. Like slidecage stated, it is better to trade games there than on switchplanet. Off topic somewhat, some sellers on switchplanet price their items way too high for a disc copy. Oh wells.

for every sealed game i receive, i send one back to a lucky goozex user (i believe i sent one to slidecage sealed).

you're right i did mean trade credits. i'm just not content with being forced to buy a minimum of 5.

I don't want to deal with them again.

I sent out God of War 2... and never got the credit for it. The receiver claims to have never gotten it. I provided the delivery confirmation and still got nothing from goozex.

They're garbage.

Did you send an email to feedback @ goozex.com . They are really quick at responding from that one. Also, it does take a while for the points to credit correctly.

sorry to thread jack, but thought making another thread about a goozex rant would be a waste of space and here it goes...:

Had PGR4 in my requested queue and it wasn't my turn yet to get the game (I was like 60th person in line or something) and recently bought PGR4 at GS with the 25% coupon. The case, manual, and box was mint and was like if I just bought it new except the for the GS price sticker.

Later, I found out that someone decided to ship their copy (I don't check my email daily). I tried to cancel the trade and hoped he didn't sent it yet. Get a pm from the guy saying why cancel and explained that I got it already and wasn't expecting to get it soon since I was liek 60th in line and also asked to cancel the trade. The guy responds by saying I guess you will have an extra copy.

I'm like wtf....sure enough today after work, I get home and see a package with the goozex label on the bubble mailer. The game was from a Hollywood video (black case with front cover art and the back is just info, not like a retail cover art) and to top if off, the disc just looks horrendous. Scuffs, scratches, fingerprints, smudges...

That is just unacceptable, a disc looking that bad to be sent out to another user. Argg...so pissed. I'm probably just being a little bitch right now about it.

I've received 21 games and shipped out 62.

I've had three 'bad' experiences on goozex and all of them were my fault. First time I sent out an empty game case because I didn't know the game was in my Xbox (for over a year). Second time I marked a game as complete only to find it didn't have the instructions when I went to send it. Both times the receivers were more than gracious. The third incident was this morning. I got an email saying I missed my shot at being the first to get Turok because I forgot I just spent all my trade points.

All-in-all, I find goozex an awesome site. Rarer titles will take ages to get if at all, but I did get a mint SMT: Devil Summoner and Shadow Hearts 3. I've also received a few new and sealed games.

Just started using goozex.Sent my first game but never got feedback on it or credits.I sent the game weeks ago.I should have paid for delivery confirmation. The game was Resident Evil Outbreak so not huge loss.GOOZEX=fail, for me atleast.

It took me the full 22 days or whatever to get feedback on my first two trades. Some people just don't leave feedback and it takes that long for the system to automatically close the trade and credit you.

I've had nothing but good luck with gooxex. Gotten some incredible items from them.

Resident Evil 2 for Gamecube mint
Bleach 1+2 Imports for DS
Bleach 1 English for DS
Bleach Heat the Soul 1+3 for psp
Orange Box for 360

and a crap load more.

you can try to email them about it. the guy was obviously being a douche. but i would definitely try to get it off my list next time. did you put up on your games for trade list?

I've had a few people not leave feedback, but eventually it defaults to positive feedback. I have gotten rid of a bunch of old PS1/DC games that aren't worth anything and that I'll never play again. Overall I think I've broken even with points, or am a little ahead (that is, one item I paid 200 for is now 150, but one item I paid 300 for is now 400, etc).

It's not perfect, and there will always be scammers online, but it seems like goozex is doing what they can to make it as safe as they can. The only time I haven't gotten a game in like new condition was one Gamecube game with some EB stickers on it (not on the disk, just the case) and one game where both the disk and case has the previous owner's initials on it (?).

ive got nothing but good things to say about goozex. hell i just got rid of ncaa 99 for the pc, where else could i actually get something out of that?. i did have 1 guy that didnt leave feedback and i had to wait the 3 weeks, but for me i seem to get the points from the trade as soon as i accept it.

I doubt goozex will do anything about it and they never reply to the emails.

Not quite sure what you mean by "did you put up on your games for trade list?" Do you mean did I put the recently acquired PGR4 in my goozex library up for trade?

hell, I still need to leave feedback for the dick

Zerotypex, can the game play in your system? If not, leave appropriate feedback + comments (polite ones), i.e. = Requested full package but received Hollywood Video printed artwork and disc was etc. etc.

Otherwise, post in the goozex forums and more of us would be able to help you out.

Still ticked that I forgot to put in the cag promo code to get more trade credits. I have 700 points, but no credits. One day I'll get around to it.

Somebody mentioned the free points thing for signing up in an earlier post. You can also buy points. I know it isn't one, but it sort of feels a little like a ponzi scheme.

i think i joined in july. only games i bought were mario, zack and wiki, and now super smash. the service is good but not perfect. you can't expect a one stop shop and save money. use a couple of services and you will be happier and still save some dough.

my combo is goozex + switchplanet (i write for their blog videogame review and get games free) + ebay + rare circular deals.

it's just the luck of the draw as you can leap frog 60-80ppl at times. I did that for crackdown and had a match but decline for heavenly sword.

gems i go from goozex = resident evil chronicles with guide, link's wii zapper with gun, sealed fire emblem wii

I love it but it takes so darn long for new games to ship out...

Plus I am still a bit worried about sinking a bunch of points into it. At one time I had well over 3000 points... now its down to 2000 or so. I know thats small time but enough points for me. I jsut sell the old ones here or ebay now.

I did get rid of a bunch of DC and PC games though... sometimes the shipping kills the point value.

I'm having mixed feelings about Goozex. One of my first trades took 30 days to be credited as the person never left feedback or answered back. Probably one of the users that only wanted a free game.

I'm frustrated too with the fact that it takes forever to get newer games. What is the incentive to go out and pay $60 for a game and trade it for 1000 credits? You could just buy the credits for $50. They need to offer something more! I wanted to pick up DMC 4 and trade it for credits (after I beat it), but it just doesn't make sense to do so!

I have lots of older games that are just sitting there on my list, don't think anyone will ever request them!

well I dont know how long DMC4 is, but I am almost positive you wont get $50 for it anywhere else. I mean unless you dump it on ebay soon its bound to drop under that for pricing after fees etc.

You would have just sat on that game, now you get points. They cant give more than say 1000 points or it would not be worth it to the buyers. I mean I find 1000 points for heavenly sword hard to swallow.

I personally didnt have the 22-30 days before points issue, I must have joined before that rule went into effect. However its a nice rule. Once you are established the points go on as soon as you hit agree, the idea is to deter those theifs that will claim they have a bunch of games and dont send anything, then disappear after they used all their new points. Its a must and if you stay with goozex for a while its not even an issue.

if you like the brick and mortar store policies, then goozex is not for you. why would you want to wait for a game to come to you? ---- cost savings.

if your not into saving money then just do the cycle of buying new/used and selling it back at the store and get more new/used games. that process might cost you $10-$30 everytime but then you won't have to worry if that game or this game is in stock.

put your old games up, you would be suprised what gets requested. what other option you got? if you take your old pc games back to the store, they won't even buy used pc games. good luck on ebay as they will be changing their feedback very soon and that strike is coming.

you trade time with savings. if you got loads of money why would you use goozex or even come to CAG. Kinda defeats the purpose of hunting down a deal when you can just go to the store and get it now.

I am a very happy goozex customer and members that go above and beyond the call of duty is just gravy. I got at least 4-5 sealed games so far.

Goozex has been nothing but awesome so far. Got S&M:atO, hated it, sent it out for 1000 points; 100 points here and there for all the spare disc-only PSX games I acquired from yard sales and the 75% off blowout at GameStop last spring, the occassionall 500 or so for a game I picked up at a sale or clearance...and so far, out of 10 games, one has been sealed, one has been in a beaten-up Greatest Hits box, and the rest have all been immacculate.

.Hack 2 and 3, Tales of Symphonia, Killer 7 for both PS2 and Cube, tons of DS games...I'm linking Goozex. I'm liking it a lot.
thats what i said until someone requested my Madden 2004 that i got for a dollar. i had to deny the request cause i forgot i traded it to micro center during the trade 9+25$ deal.

wow was just looking at past trades. I picked up a complete futurama ps2 off someone last year for like 100 pts . thing is like 800 pts now

best trades i got off this site (starting with newest trades)

Dragon warrior 7 complete 200 pts

hot shot golf PSP 150 pts

brain age 1 1oo pts (now like 250 )

hack vol 1 with figure 650 pts Dumped it on ebay for 60

FUTURAMA 100 PTS COMPLETE NOW 800 sort of feel sorry for the dude who sold it 100

Suikoden V 600 pts sealed

fatal frame complete 200 pts

gallop racer 2006 sealed 300 pts

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II 650 pts complete sold on ebay for 70

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 1000 pts sold on ebay for 120

Skies of Arcadia Legends gamecube 150 pts

so in around the 2 years i been with the site i got around 12 WICKED Trades

still got around 18000 pts

I usually only dump my games if they fetch 400+ and mostly buy games for 1oo or 200 unless i really want them. that is how i got so many pts .

selling also helped. that 120 bucks i got for the marvel game got me around 10 games that i put all back up on goozex and ended up i think with close to 5000 pts out of them
