Gran Turismo 4

I am trying to finish gt 3 still before i get gt4.
 Oh what a difference a day makes.
Really, if you didn't do it in the last almost 4 years it may just be too late for you.

I never finished it either, ended up about 76% done.
...Got the game an hour ago, and just like someone else said: GT4 is the reason why i kept my PS2. It brought it back to life!

I like the fact that you can import your data from your GT3 saves. (licenses + credits - not cars)

I bought my '02 Mazda Protege, since it's my real-life drive.

Whats your first purchase???
I did the same thing and bought my real life ride, the 350Z roadster

'89 300ZX used. No real mods yet except for a wing and a new set of rims. I want to keep it stock for as long as I can. All assists are off (they work against me).

Well, i just got gt 4 and am happy with it. And just to let Zion know, it is not the same game. It is a more refined version of it... witth prettier graphics

Anyway, i basically did finish most of gt 3 just before i popped in gt 4. Playing my first race right now with a shelby mustang gt.

I finally got GT4 today, getting ready to pop it in now. Hope everybody is enjoying it :D

Maybe I am the only one that don't like GT 4 much.

Wasn't happy with the title fmv music... import version is beter in my opinion. Car physics feels like GT 3 which I did not like.. Original GT1 feels better.... I still don't understand why the hell on earth you have to let brake go competely in order to change the direction of your car. It almost feels like the steering wheel was locked or something.

You certainly need a good TV for this game which I don't....... And! on top of all these, I am not a big car racing fan........

Yeah, but I am still a sucker who paid full for this game. What am i bitchin' about...........

You ain't kidding.

I bought PS to play GT and GT2 those are the only 2 games I own.

I just bought a used PS2 for the sole reason of playing GT4. I love this series but damn I would never pay full price. I have to wait for my $39.99 shipped copy to come in. Probably won't see it for another week maybe 2. Maybe a month who cares I just refuse to pay full retail.

Let's put it this way if everyone on earth refused to buy GT4 at full price all copies of the game would still be on the stores shelfs. If everyone collectovly decided to wait till the game went on sale for $20 bucks guess what, I bet within 2 months everyone would be able to buy the game for $20. Why because the retailers would be forced to keep cutting prices until it sold. This could be done for every new game that comes out. Of course it would be imposable.

You would have to post a thread on CAG forum to not buy a new came until it is $20. Every gamer in the world would have to read this thread. And every gamer that read this thread would have to comply ie don't bale and buy Tek 5 when walmart drops it to $22. Everyone would have to wait until $20 for it to work.

This is my ultimate CAG dream. Yes I know it is a dream.

Your dream would eventually become a nightmare when they start cutting game development budgets.

Well, I've been playing for a bit, and my skills are just plain rusty- I really don't remember GT3 being this hard to me. Anyway, who else has the Nike Car? Man that thing handles so nice.

I thought of this shortly after I posted and you are 100% correct.

I was wrong the way it is right now is best. Have the majority of the public pay retail that way we get good quality games and we CAGs can search for the bargin prices.

So the lucky people who have this game already. Are you having screen jitter problems mainly at the start of the race? This has been reported on GTPlanet. It seems the PS2 has maybe been pushed too far with this game.

Nope, it's been perfect for me, though I wouldn't expect any less.

Mainly during replay angles and at times during during gameplay depending on the track and how many cars are on screen at once. However, I'm playing at 1080i, which is no doubt pushing the PS2 and GT4 engine further than usual, so I can't speak for 480p and 480i This definitely has no effect on game play, though. It's still as smooth as butter.

My screen was shaking a bit at the beginning of one race but I was it was put there to give you a sense of "speed".

Well I have the DFP wheel sitting in the box right next to me but no GT4 still on it's way from overstock. From all the hard core GT fans this is suppose to be great.

Amazon has it for like 105 shipped plus if you buy GT4 you can send in a 20 buck rebate.

You should be able to get this if you look around.
39 GT4
105 DFP
-20 Rebate
124 for GT4/DFP

I say get it but I have never used it or even play GT4 so take this for what it's worth.

The DFP is USB right? So I can use it for PC? And how are the cords handled? Same messy way as the old GT3 wheel meaning the AC plugs into the wheel or the pedals?

I haven't read this thread but I just have to say, DAAAAYYYUUUUMMMM!!!!!

GT4 looks great on my new Samsung 30" HDTV at 1080i. And yes, I PAID FULL PRICE FOR GT4 (although I got a screaming deal on the TV :) ).

My favorite mode so far - Photo Mode. Just a couple of shots I took of my dream car...

Daphatty - how exactly are you getting the photos? can you hook the PS2 to your computer and get the pics or are you scanning printouts?

I just started playing the game a few hours ago and havent really gotten to that part of it yet.

Polyphony is fucking brilliant. You can hook up a USB drive to the PS2 and save the PICS there! fuckING BRILLIANT! The file sizes of the highest resolution pics are 250-300KB each. Brilliant I tell you!!!!

Supposedly you can print to directly to Epson printers but the game manual is a little scarce on the details (on just about every aspect of the game).

Supposedly it should work like a digicam, hook it directly to the printers and it will print out your shots. I have an epson but it's a few years old and probably wont be compatible. Plus I'd have to drag my PS2 to the desk top (not a fun idea) I'll see if I can snag a usb drive then, thanks for the heads up!

So I can put my thumb drive in the USB slot and save the pics there? That'd be sweet!

As for the epson printers, there a few places that point you to www.epson.com/GT4 for more info.

finally got my copy yesterday..........very good, like someone said earlier, its a refined version with prettier graphics.
and its very very good.
now i finally need to get the broadband adapter.

I need to get GT4. I really do.
Agree'd, so go now and get it.
I would, but I have no money and no way out. But, I am trading some stuff into EB soon, so that should help.

ACTUALLY, I have $6 to my name.

Hmm, my USB drive isn't working with GT 4. I have a Sandisk USB 256 MB drive, tried it in both USB ports and got an error that it's not connected when I save the picture. What USB drives are you guys using? Any idea what I should try with my drive to get it working?

I have a 256 MB Cruzer Micro, and it works fine.

I don't know why it's not working, also tried my camera which should work and I get the same error. Hopefully I can get it working somehow.

Man I have to invest in brakes! I bought a used Lancer Evolution and concentrated on accelleration and speed. Its quick and fast, but I have a hell of a time slowing it down for turns, LOL. I wipe out on just abouit every hard turn, but luckily its so damn quick to get back up to full speed, I usually win anyways. Nice pics everyone. I guess now I have a reason to invest in a thumb drive!

BTW - I got to have that Ford GT in the opening movie. Simply awesome.

yeah I tried to save it to both my camera (I didnt expect this to work) and also my external hard drive (which I felt should have worked but didnt.)

I started off with a Scion Xa, UN-ADVISABLE. one of the most underpowered peices of crap I've ever Fused, I might as well have started off with a ford Ka.
