I've had it installed for awhile, I just haven't actually started playing it.
That's the story of my life. :p

Well I went and grabbed it at the $1 level so I guess I can find out about Da New Guys. Or I can install it and not get around to playing it.

Just hit 4000. Da New Guys is only showing up as a DRM-free download at the moment -- a Desura key should be appearing shortly.

Only one day left, and Groupees has pulled bundles early in the past, so anyone who's been on the fence should grab one now just in case.

If by "in the past" you mean one time, true. I honestly can't remember it happening more than once, it was kind of a fluke thing.

They technically "pulled" the bundle on and off when they first launched, but only because they weren't prepared/couldn't handle the load and they brought it back. They ran out of keys last time and pulled it but they had 25K purchases and I don't think they expected that volume.

I thought it happened twice, but I came up empty on Googling a shortened sale besides the BMA one. I'm probably thinking of what Fox described.
Blah, I'm still undecided on this bundle, I only have Gemini Rue. Blackwell's 640x400 rez is like so 20 years ago.
Just played it windowed, that's what I do. Really lets the graphics be nice and properly sized, and the text is still easy to read.

Almost all AGS games, including the Blackwell ones, allow you to use a graphics filter to scale the game resolution. Typically there's an executable called winsetup.exe in the same directory as the game (it's actually the same as running the game itself with the --setup flag). Run it, select "Run game in window instead of full-screen", and pick a graphics filter that scales the window resolution to the one you want. The scaling is not perfect, but since these are mostly pixel graphics anyway, it's definitely playable at higher resolutions. I play almost all AGS games like this (some have better looking filters like hqx ones).

LOL You're still stuck on that point, huh?. ;)

It is what it is. Indie Adventure games keep using AGS until something better comes out and Indie RPGs keep using RPG Maker until something better comes out. The problem is the 'until something better comes out' part never seems to happen. I think there's a real demand for advanced creation software that make those sorts of games in higher resolutions but they don't exist.

The other problem is when working with 2D you can't really scale it like 3D and if you make it at a higher resolution then you lock out people still running lower resolutions so it's easier just to do lowest common denominator. Plus once you get into 3D you have to worry about meshes and textures and making sure there's not holes on the world and all that good stuff and it's just generally a lot more work to create and test.

FWIW the Blackwell games come off pretty well even at that resolution but there's definitely a retro vibe to them. Anyway Adventure games are more about stories than visuals generally.

TL;DR if you want to play indie adventure games and RPGs you pretty much have to get used to low resolutions or just not bother.

Anyone else still not get the Desura key for Da New Guyz yet?

I should have known better than to buy the bundle before all the bonuses were added since Groupees seems to be good for this 'new purchasers after the bonus was added get their keys right away but existing purchasers don't' nonsense.

Not sure how long I should wait before contacting support.

That's not it. It's more of a "some people randomly don't get their keys right away" I think. I bought mine before the last bonus hit and I'm showing a key for Da New Guyz.

Not sure how long I should wait before contacting support.

I'd say right away, actually.

Looks like they're working on it:
Yes, Desura keys for Da New Guys will be added shortly... that was an unplanned bonus that was added after we reached the second goal and discussed with Dave Gilbert.

So fear not, but please be patient
Somebody over on SPUF said that a new Build-A-Bundle is coming next week. I have no way of confirming if this is accurate or not. If he got the info from the main chat, it's probably buried in a sea of pointless chatter and I'm sure not gonna go fishing for it.

Sounds plausible though. I just wish they didn't make announcements like this in that main chat window where all the retarded slugs congregate.

He got it from chat. One of the support dudes says it will start this week...no day though
no Da New Guys Desura key for me yet.
Groupees is waiting for the developer to provide them with keys. They don't have them yet. Da New Guys wasn't originally planned to be a bonus, got thrown in at the last minute, explaining why they don't have keys. Might take a few days because the dev probably has to contact Desura for the keys, which can take time.

Sweet! Any ideas what might be in this Build a Bundle? The dude standing on a rock and the lightning bolts are apparently clues...

As a side note, the new Bundlestars #5 is live, and the latest Bundle-in-a-Box launched today, too. I'd expect to see the next IG soon, as well. Lots of bundles coming out!

Maybe Tesla The Weather Man or Storm in a Teacup
Tesla the weatherman looks interesting. Tesla vs Edison.
It's been bundled before though, I'm hoping for Storm in a Teacup.

Tesla was in the 2nd Indie Underdog Pack, which I'm guessing most people didn't get, or have forgotten by now. Was a pretty good deal if you didn't mind it all being desura keys.

They've added a new hint that looks sort of like Rico - A Tale of 2 Brothers. There are supposedly 3 hints on the page, maybe the cat is also a hint? lol

Other than that.. it's likely that a Daedalic Entertainment game will be in the bundle. Someone posted a guesslist mentioning Deponia, Edna & Harvey, and The Whispered World, and an admin confirmed one of the games would be in a bundle "soon".

I'm gonna get Spellforce because I've missed it for like 3 times, the Geneforge Saga and probably Oddword because I've lost my cds.

I'm already in love.

I think they made a typo.. Geneforge Saga isn't in the video. Only ones I have are Lume and the Oddworld games, so it seems like a decent bundle.

You're right, it's Nethergate.

Maybe geneforge is a bonus and the leaked it. Wouldn't surprise me

Storm in a Teacup - Want
Manhunter - Don't want
Marvin's Mittens - Already own (courtesy the devs over on NeoGAF)
Dawnstar - Never heard of until now, but kinda want
Oddworld Abe's Oddysee + Exoddus - Already own
Nethergate: Resurrection - kinda want, but might wait for it's inevitable inclusion with Indie Royale or IndieGameStand
Spellforce: Platinum - Already own
Lume - Already own
Dawning - Never heard of until now, but I'm not all that interested.

Not a bad bundle, but there's little there of interest that I don't already own.
Maybe geneforge is a bonus and the leaked it. Wouldn't surprise me
Could be.. but I hope not. Apparently every new BAB will likely have a repeat game from a previous Be Mine.. Not a fan of this.

Spellforce is a great game. I bought it in a steam bundle a looong time ago and played a couple hours. Should be back to it.

I only want storm in a teacup until now.
Hm. I just want Lume. I love Spiderweb, but Nethergate looks too old and uninteresting to me.
Groupees many times has sort of a "special" hour later in the bundle's life where they allow you to buy just one game at a time. Or you could see if anyone who is buying the bundle would be willing to buy Lume and pass you the key at cost.
Hm. I just want Lume. I love Spiderweb, but Nethergate looks too old and uninteresting to me.
Build-a-Bundles tend to have a day toward the end where they ignore the two game minimum and let you pick up a single game bundle if you want.
Hm.. Storm in a Teacup is locked at 30 FPS. I googled it, couldn't find a fix.
That's definitely a game you want to play at least at 60 FPS. In fact, I refuse to play Angry Birds at anything less than 120 FPS.

I know right, which is why I'm so disappointed. Can't control a teacup at 30 FPS, there's just no way.

Lume looks good but it is a very short game with no ending. Marvin's Mittens is the other game I like, hope it gets greenlit soon.

In for Oddworld pack, Spellforce, Storm in a Teacup and Dawnstar, hoping the latter will get greenlit soon... my 3 copies of La-Mulana from the Build a Greenlight Bundle are still there, taunting me...
I know right, which is why I'm so disappointed. Can't control a teacup at 30 FPS, there's just no way.
I'm holding off until they confirm Oculus Rift support.

Not a great BAB for me: I already have Spellforce on GOG, Nethergate and the Oddworld games on Steam; I have no real interest in Storm in a Teacup, Dawning, or Marvin's Mittens. The only thing that looks decent that I don't already have is Dawnstar. Is Manhunter just bad or is it Rogue Warrior bad? Anybody know?

If anyone wants Oddworld/Spellforce/Lume, let me know. I'm going to get 4 of the other games myself, so if I get one extra game, each game will work out to $0.70 each. ($0.68/$0.65 for 2/3 extras.)
I wonder why the sequel isn't on desura.
I asked Aldorlea about getting their game added to Desura (Millennium 2), and giving out Desura keys to BAB5 purchasers and got a quick response

Hi, it was/is in my plans, unfortunately I am very swamped right now, and I will have to tackle this in April only.
I'm sorry for people who use Desura. Not sure if it will be possible to send Desura keys once the bundle is over.
