Has Groupees fallen below Indie Royale standards? Is it now the bottom feeder of the "mainstream" bundles?

Their ethos is not just about cheap games and music, it's about taking flight from the seat of their pants. Or some kumbaya hipster shit like that Jonny just blogged.

I dunno, have you SEEN the lineups of the last couple Indie Royales? Right now I'm putting them at about even.

Well now, Molly isn't a protagonist of her genre, now is she?

Okay, no. Groupees has been shitty, but Be Mines are always solid and some of the silly little bundles only end up being a buck and are worth grabbing.

Indie Royale is a pile of expensive shit every single time.

Whoring Lili out for a dollar was the only thing that kept this Be Mine from being complete shit. The bonuses were some of the worst I've seen, especially for a Be Mine.

Yeah, I know, some of you DRM free riff raff got all hot and bothered over Euro Trash keys for Blood Rayne.

Nah. If this ends up getting GOG keys for the Megarace games I'd actually consider this a rather strong bundle. Groupees has had a number of bundles that are quite good for the $1 price, provided you have any interest in the music. That Celtic bundle, for example. And the Russia Clash bundle. The Tuesday bundles have been nice at the dollar days price, too.

Indie Royale doesn't really seem worse lately. Just about the same. Every few bundles they end up with one that is tempting provided you get in near the base price. (Well, except for that 10 bundle stretch between Debut 10 and Royale with Cheese. That was a brutal run for them.)

It was more Lili and Isomer for me. Sure, Isomer may still be a messy early access game, but it sounds and looks right up my alley and apparently has a good developer and good following. I didn't have 100% Orange Juice either. Everyone needs at least one weeaboo board game in their library.

I feel this Build a Be Mine is easily the weakest Be Mine bundle so far. The building part of the bundle is expensive for the not so much bundled not so old games. Still an OK price, but the bonuses are poop (though the music may be OK) compared to the other Be Mine bundles where I was consistently impressed by the bonus games. I felt pretty lame paying $3 for 100% Orange Juice, Lili, Isomer, and Spirits DLC. Seems a bit much but eh, wanted Lili and Orange Juice.

Doubt anyone here cares aside from me but..

Downloads for The Chosen, Stalin Subway - The Red Veil, and Ubersoldier 2 are now fixed.

I personally sent the file for Ubersoldier 2 to Shifty, so you can thank me for that.

I love that someone had to send them a copy of a damned game that they lost access to for months because they were dumbasses and apparently never heard of redundancy. That's priceless.

They could always use Dropbox like Gala does. :p

Do they still do that? I don't really pay attention to DRM free crap lately except for the mad rush to back everything from Bundle in a Box up before they go tits up.

Maybe that's just it. I don't like RPG-Maker or Weeaboo games, and I don't care to own lots of disposable music. Edit: and I certainly don't trust Groupees to hold onto it for me.

I'm sure there's the rare musical gem in there if you care to wade through the rest, but music is very personal for me and I haven't had good luck finding stuff I enjoy by trolling garbage bins. YMMV.

Speaking of, I should probably send Shifty the download for the QUBE OST Flac version since they never fixed that. I had to waste a buck on that Sci-Fi Humble Weekly just to get it.

Nice I need to check if I have those....but yes Ubersoldier 2 baby. Too bad I want a Steam key haha......

If they can make an effort to get GOG keys for those games I wonder if they'd make any effort to get steam keys for Bloodrayne.
I just checked the game on SteamDB and it appears the game cannot be purchased in Russia and Brazil for some reason. That might be why we're not getting Steam keys.

Don't tell me what to do.

There's actually a fair bit of excellent music in the average Groupees bundle. I don't know what your tastes are so I couldn't recommend anything right off the top of my head, but I posted a list of good artists I'd found a little while back if you can find it. I've been pleasantly surprised by how many good albums I've gotten from them.

It's so bad.

Yeah, I don't doubt people enjoy them to some degree. It just doesn't work that way for me, personally. I'm obviously much more particular about my music than I am about my games.

I'd much rather get music recommendations from friends or from a service (Spotify, Pandora, etc)... or even from listening to the radio, than to sort through big piles of tunes from a location that may or may not be around next week. It would probably help a lot if these weren't just direct downloads because I feel sort of the same way about direct dowload games.

Weird, I know.

its not weird, I've never listed to a single second of any music that I've got in a groupees bundle because I know it will be shit.

I wish I could have them remove all that trash from my profile page.

are you drunk again? why I even ask? You always drunk. Mispelling invalidates everything you say.

When an NES accessory is part of your look, you need to not work.
Professor Shyguy has an NES controller for a belt, and the stuff he's had in Groupees has been pretty good. It's all chiptunes versions of famous R&B and pop songs.

I would have been fine buying Lili for $3. Hell, I would have ended up buying Lili for $5 (75% off) on Steam once it hit that.

It's by no means the best Be Mine, but I don't think it's the worst, and it's the best bundle I've seen in awhile.

Have you tried listening to anything in Groupees? They've offered a lot of different genres... Alternative, metal, techno, chiptune, dubstep, folky stuff, even from some headline bands like Smile Empty Soul and Taproot. The recent Celtic bundle was great too.

Pandora and those radio players are notorious for having laughably shallow recommendations, many of them nonsensical and 90% of the time bands you've already heard of (unless you've been living under a rock). I'll admit I get "lazy" and don't bother checking out new music, just sticking to bands I already know of, but Groupees has done really well over the years plucking some really good artists out of the woodwork for their bundles.

You said you like recommendations from friends, right? Sometimes people will post recommendations of music out of Groupees bundles here if you pay attention. Squirrel has done it, I've done it (I just gave a full mini-review of the Celtic bundle), and I know others have. Maybe you're hella picky about music, but I'd still say it's worth checking out some Groupees stuff. There's your occasional pile of Remute shit in there, but they do a good job at picking good stuff out.

I love the powerglove, its sooo bad

eh the bundle isn't all bad as far as I'm concerned,  as an Rpg aficionado I was about to pick up 3 stars of destiny the other day when it was on sale at Shinyloot for $3 but decided to wait for it to be bundled so I'm happy I didn't have to wait long.

It's a similar story for 100% orange juice. It was a weekly deal recently but I decided to wait.

Getting them bother together with 99 Spirits which was also on my radar for cheaper then I would have gotten any one of them individually had I been impatient?  Priceless for someone on a very limited budget

and it's the best bundle I've seen in awhile.
I wanted to say you were wrong, but then I thought about some of the bundles lately and

Okay maybe the Humble AAA ones were hot shit if you just fell off the turnip truck, but I think most of the OCD deal buyers had everything we actually wanted out of those.

Yup, wasn't excited by those at all. I still went in a buck for them for one or two games I was missing, but they weren't even games I'd probably ever install and play (because we all know I'm going to play every Hitman game, including the old ones, yes).

I'll probably actually give Lili and Isomer a try, as well as screw around with 100% Orange Juice with some Brawny Gents at some point, so this bundle is hella solid in my book, if not slightly more than I wanted to pay (which isn't terrible; I'll pay a bit more if I actually want the games).

The 2k one was basically The Bureau for $1. Not bad. Square Enix was awesome as I was cheap enough to pass on the sales on almost everything in the base tier.

I might point to Be Mine 13 as a rather nice bundle, but that wasn't all that recent. Indie Gala Greenlight Bundle 3 was nice from a pure quantity standpoint. Humble Weekly Simulators 2 was nice if someone didn't yet have Cook, Serve, Delicious.

None of those really stand out as excellent, but they're all pretty good. I'd describe this Build-a-Be-Mine the same way.

I don't know, Darkness II was selling pretty high (at least one seller) over on the trade thread. I think it was 6 bucks. There were better deals than that before (package deal on Amazon is the one I recall).
I didn't pay attention. I grabbed a ton of 2k stuff from Amazon in 2012 and early 2013, including Darkness II and Spec Ops. I of course haven't even played Darkness II, but I did at least get around to playing Spec Ops this spring.

It's too early in the day for your sickening level of optimism.

The Darkness II is a great little romp, I'd suggest playing it sometime when you need a palate cleanser.
