Contact was a great game, and is worth a look for that price. I'm checkin' out both "Touch Detctive" games, even though their titles sound like porno names.

Good post, kind sir.

What are general opinions on devil summoner, considering it is the only affordable SMT game. Is it significantly worse tham nocturne/DDS (which I have yet to play)

Looks like Otamarama isn't selling so well if it's already dropped in price. Good for us? Oh well, I'll be picking that up along with Rule of Rose.

. . .and Izuna does not suck. And Touch Detective 2 1/2 is great. I bought it at release, beat and loved it. Worth the $30.

Anyone suggest Stella Deus? It looks interesting, but the reviews seem to be kind of polarized. Some like it, others not so much.

Now to go find a GS that still has steambot or contact in stock.

A shame Etrian hasn't dropped yet. Guess that one's still a closet favorite

Decent turn-based strategy, so-so story, and some nice 2d artwork. Not bad, but not the greatest game ever made.

I imagine Etrian did well enough to never need a drop. If you see it and want it, I'd suggest you pick it up. I haven't regretted it.

Man I was going to get mad if Trauma Center was on this list because I just bought it for the Wii.

But these games I will have to pass on.

The official Atlus store has free shipping right and some sale prices, though they are not good as what's listed.

Looks like they finally ran out of free Nocturne soundtracks though. :p

Not to nit-pick, but Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner is a PSP game. ;)

As for Stella Deus, I didn't care for it. It starts out decent enough, but quickly turns into a grind-a-thon. There are much better SRPGs out there imo.
What are general opinions on devil summoner, considering it is the only affordable SMT game. Is it significantly worse tham nocturne/DDS (which I have yet to play)
It is action RPG so it is not the same as the other games. It is not as good as nocturne, DDS , or Persona but still fun to play. I would still get it as it is the most affordable SMT game you can get.

Contact is one of my favorite DS RPG. Just dont expect Earthbound like game because of the screen shot. Lets just say that any time you can kill random villagers and steal their stuff, the game is worth playing.

Stella Deus is fun, but quite possibly one of the most repetitive games in existence, particularly if you're a completionist.

Making good items is also the most tedious process EVER. EVERRRRR.

That said, it's certainly worth $17.99, at least in my opinion.

I couldnt agree more. At this price it is worth a try if you are interest in SRPG.

DON'T. Rei no Otaku got Otamarama at released and HATED it. It's short, it sucks, it's everything a game shouldn't be. THAT'S why it's dropping so fast.

Touch Detective 2 1/2 for $20 sounds great. I may look to pick up Riveria, but $30 seems still to be too much for a game I already play on the GBA.

@12.99 used Metal Saga is a steal.. that game is a gem and the graphics are not spectacular for PS2 but it is very addictive... And the enemies you run into are just crazy so it fits perfect with the people who love the strange monsters in the SMT games... Hell even one the the characters on screen looks like the main character from P3...
Wow, Ontamarama just came out too. I guess it's time for me to grab the stragglers that I never picked up.
Yea, you're right it. Pretty good time to pick it up. I might have to check out Touch Detective 2 1/2 also.

Thanks OP.

I will pick up Devil Summoner if I can find it -- most of the local copies are farther away than I'd really like to go.

I know Rei no Otaku hated Ontamarama. But there might be a point at which the price is low enough to make it worthwhile. Don't think this is it, yet, but perhaps with a B2G1 or a further drop.
DON'T. Rei no Otaku got Otamarama at released and HATED it. It's short, it sucks, it's everything a game shouldn't be. THAT'S why it's dropping so fast.
Umm... I actually really liked Ontamarama. Sure, it's short, but what music game isn't? The great thing about it is that there is plenty of stuff to unlock that affect how you play the game even after you've beaten it.

I'm guessing Metal Saga new also dropped, even though it isn't listed on the site. If anyone interested in that wants to check the product locator, the number is 281439. Now that that's out of the way...

Thanks Tsukento! I've been waiting on price drops for a few games like Monster Kingdom, Stella Deus, and Steambot Chronicles. I may even think about geting one of the Touch Detectives when I get a DS soon.

I have to agree and warn everyone not to go near Otamarama.
The only good thing about it is that it's only about 15 mins long.
I can't in good conscience recommend Contact to anyone.
I agree. The game is really boring and uninspired. There are some cool moments but it feels like work more than anything else.
in for Devil Summoner, too bad Persona 3 wasnt part of this
They probably won't drop the price of Persona 3 until they release Persona 3: Fes.

What's the price for Devil Summoner new? Did it drop too? All the stores I go to have it new, but they don't have any used copies.

Despite a lot of the negative impressions for Izuna, I always wanted to try it. I grew up on Dragon Warrior/Quest, so I'm used to the unforgiving dungeons that don't allow any saves in between. Is it really so punishing that it isn't enjoyable?
Not to nit-pick, but Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner is a PSP game. ;)
So it is. Fixed it.

I blame GameStop's site for making the boxart wider than usual. Got me thinking it was a PS2 title.

Ya know I was reading thru the list, and when I got to that game I was all like 'oooooh, a Atlus PS2 game I never heard of!' I thought I was slippin there for a second. lol
What are general opinions on devil summoner, considering it is the only affordable SMT game. Is it significantly worse tham nocturne/DDS (which I have yet to play)
Well Nocturne's kind of affordable.

At Gamestop it's $59.99 but with the 10% coupon and the Edge Card you can get it down to $47.99

Which is at least tolerable IMO.

Better than $80+ on Ebay.

its a fun game until you get to the final dungen. 40 floors you need to climb at once and by level 30 the monsters will either poison or curse you or #$$# you up that you will never make it beyond floor 30 unless you do MASSIVE MASSIVE level grinding.

too bad no good PSP or DS games.

Because Rei no Whoeverthefuckheis's opinion is totally fact.

I'd like to get Ontamarama at that price, and maybe the Touch Detective games if I knew what they were about.

The Touch Detective games are cute point and click adventures.

I'm kinda interested in the Touch Detective games even though I've always sucked at point and click adventure games on the computer. I couldn't even beat any of the Monkey Island games without a FAQ.

Can I skip right to Touch Detective 2 or should I play them in order?

Just wanted to say thanks for the replies about Stella Deus. I definitely don't have time for grind heavy games anymore, so that's out. Thanks!

They're easy enough to play without a faq. I would say play in order because you'll get more out of two if you know the characters since it's one of the stronger points of the game. But there's nothing story wise that connects the two games so you can skip straight to two if you wanted.
