GS/EB Games - Cheap Ass USED GBA Games

As much as I hate GS, these are probably the best prices they've given for some of these GBA games. It wouldn't surprise me that they're trying to lower the quantity of GBA games they have, either. Even if the DS is backwards compatible. Though I gotta say...good luck actually finding some of these in stock.

Mua ha ha! Ninja Five o is finally mine! This game is so fricking rare (for a gba game) that I can't believe I snatched one. Used, but who cares? I bought it to play it. I'm Quite pleased.
That's really no deal considering the game's just Golden Axe/Ecco the Dolphin/Sonic Spinball. Three games that most people can't tollerate. :(
you know, i think golden axe rocks. but hey maybe i am just old
Ecco is good, but the criminal thing is there's no battery save. Password only.
Not to mention, the audio isn't anywhere like the Genesis version and instead get one track that loops every thirty seconds. Also seems like the game can't keep up with when Ecco goes too fast. "Blast Processing?" :p
you know, i think golden axe rocks. but hey maybe i am just old
There's a problem. No co-op. Golden Axe rather bites playing solo. Not to mention, the Genesis port wasn't as great compared to the Arcade version.
I've gotten two in the past month. Tactics Ogre and Summon Night. The save didn't work on Tactics Ogre.
Aww man... I was planning on getting Tactcs Ogre soon and now you've planted the bootleg seed in the back of my head. Guess I need to be on the alert

I got TO off the website twice, both times it was a bootleg. If you're picking it up in-store take a look at the back to make sure that "Nintendo" is spelled correctly, and it has that trademark or whatever it is right underneath it (compare it to another game if you're not sure).

In the GBA's defense, Nintendo never promised us Blast Processing. ;)

Ewww..... I went to search on Yahoo about how a real cart looks and I found a search where someone else also got a botleg TO. These must be really wisdespread then...

Also, anyone ever get a bootleg Lunar Legends? I was considering also getting that, and now i want to know if there are a lot of bootlegs of it.

Dang, a lot of good titles in there.

Been thinking of building a GBA collection and about 1/2 or 1/3 of my list is on there. Might have to start picking some games up... except that I'm ridiculously broke.

There's a ton of bootlegs for most every GBA game. In my time ordering from eb online back when they had awesome prices and the saver codes and whatnot I probably got like 5-10 of them over the course of about a year, year and a half.
Great post, but that Spoiler thing is kind of annoying.
Well, it makes it easier to browse through the lists instead of having to just keep scrolling down a long as hell post. :p

No box or manuals? What the hell is the point then? Might as well just load some copies onto a flashcart, it'd be the same as what I'd be paying for at GameStop.

Actually, the back was fine and it had the trademark and it was all spelled correctly. The only signs were that the words "Gameboy Advance" molded on the front were in a slightly different font, and the official Nintendo seal was wordier. Later, when I looked, there was a typo on another part of the label.

The most definitive way is to look at the circuit board and see if you can see the word "Nintendo". Both of the bootlegs I found flunked that test. It was the only way to spot the problem with Summon Night, since someone had used an original case and label and swapped out the boards.

I've bought at least 10 GBA games in the past few months -- only these two were bootlegs. I bought four carts yesterday and they were all fine. Don't worry too much because it's easy to check, and EB will take them back for any reason in 7 days. Makes for amusing conversation with the store workers, too.

Except flash cards cost far more than the prices listed here. Your logic is rather silly. No boxes or manuals are a valid reason for pirating? What?

My GameStop had 3 complete copies of Riviera for $25 each. After my brother's employee discount though it dropped the price to about $21. So I picked up one of those.

Is this game very rare? The guy behind the counter said they had been sitting there a long time.

Finally picked up Shining Soul II (and a non-bootleg, too, as far as I can tell), after many months of looking for it at a good price. Thanks, OP.

my local gs has tale phantasia aswell and rivera. its still a toss up for which i want though, i m not sure what to get of those. i have a 10% off coupon and will get an edge with my credit if i get my games from my friends house

I'm going to pick up Golden Sun and the first MMBN (started the series with 3, I love it), 20 percent off with edge card and that coupon.
Actually, it's 10% off each used game and 10% off the total price. :p Not exactly 20% off.

Actually, it is exactly 20% off.
Ack! This is like one of those bad '80s shows where there's a clone/evil twin of the hero and a supporting character has to decide which to shoot and which to save. WHOM DO I TRUST?
Actually, it is exactly 20% off.
It's only 10% if the discounts are added together before they're applied. Otherwise, it'd be 19% off (100 * .9 * .9).

Trust me on this one. ;)

I have a bootleg as well as a real one, so they do exist. The boot had a box and incomplete manual. The box was almost a direct copy of the real one but looked "blurry" somewhat. The game saved initially but does not save anymore. It said Nintendo correctly spelled on the back of the cart but no Nintendo on the PCB near the contacts. It has one of those cheap yellow watch batteries soldered to the PCB.

So far I have only gotten one GBA game in this deal, Shining Soul 2 (cart only), which I didn't really want and thought it would be the one I wouldn't find anyways (go figure).
I have, however, found some Game Boy games I wanted or missed the first time around. Right now the list is (all cart only)
Bionic Commando: Elite Forces (GBC) - $3
Operation C - $3
Zelda Ages of the Seasons (cart looks like it was never touched, even "smells" new, I wonder if it was a gutted new copy) - $5
Good deals so far, have a lead on a store with Riveria for tomorrow, unfortuantely I was told the Ninja Five-0 is sold out for all stores in a 100 mile radius. Oh well, that game is going to become very $expensive$ soon.

Wow, the online inventory checker was right for once. Got:
Klonoa
Gunstar Super Heroes
Advance Wars
Thanks OP!
Is Sonic Pinball Party worth $9? I'm interested but not sure if its worth it.
Not really. If it's the combo pack w/ Sonic then it's a little better.

Got mine new from DeepDiscount for not much more $ and I was underwhelmed by Sonic Pinball. 3 stages/tables. Very kiddie looking and for some reason just doesn't feel much like pinball.

There's also a Casinopolis with some casino type mini-games for Roulette, Slot and Bingo.

The party part needs to have more than 1 GBA linked in order to play things like Hot Potato, Hockey and Ladder Climb. Meh.

Pinball of the Dead on the other hand is an excellent GBA pinball game if you can find it.

Pinball Hall Of Fame is the most realistic fun simulation on the PSP if you want to spend $10.

I sware, you guys have made me paranoid about my GB games. So I'm checking them now. @_@ Does anyone know if the really old GB games are supposed to have a silver screw instead of the golden one? I have Tetris and Bubble Bobble with a silver screw and neither of them save. Tetris just doesn't and BB has a password feature instead.... And all of my GBA games have the Nintendo above the contacts. :D

got Double Dragon today. Thanks OP! It's so superior to the XBL arcade port...
A measly $2.99.

This GS also has both Golden Suns, Lunar Legend, and Phantasy Star Collection. I'll have to drop by before work tomorrow. Maybe, just maybe, they'll all be non-bootlegs.

I picked up complete copies of Riviera and Phantasy Star Collection, along with Shadowgate Classic (GBC) and GTA2 (GBC). Even more surprising then the prices were these were actual complete used GBA and GBC games at a Gamestop. Some stores seem to actually be keeping these games complete when they are traded in complete.

Sure enough, I found a working, non-bootleg Pinball of the Dead for 2.99, one of only two copies in a hundred mile radius. No Golden Sun, though. They did have a massive amount of GB/GBC games that I never noticed before, so I'm going to have to go back to look for Link's Awakening DX and MGS.

Most titles were plentiful at my local stores. Saw almost every title mentioned here but I already had a complete copy of most.

Picked up:

River City Ransom
Super Dodgeball Advance
Golden Sun
Tales Of Phantasia
Sword Of Mana
Tactics Ogre
Lufia: The Ruins Of Lore
CIMA: The Enemy
Advance Guardian Heroes
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Shining Soul II
Phantasy Star Collection
Breath Of Fire
Breath Of Fire II
WarioWare, Inc.
Revenge Of Shinobi
MMBN 3 White
MMBN 3 Blue
Megaman & Bass
Ninja Five-O (The only one I didn't already have)

I went looking for Megaman and Bass today on a whim before I even saw this thread. I couldn't believe the price. Some really fantastic deals here.

Picked up Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Golden Sun, Mario & Luigi: Super Star Saga, Metroid Fusion, and Shining Soul. THANKS O--oh, wait, that's me. :p

GameStop I picked these up at had a TON of Golden Suns traded in. Nearly took up two rows of the glass stands they have for the used GBA games.

I picked up a few GBA games, some of which weren't mentioned but I'll list them anyway for the hell of it:

Ninja Five-O
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Zero Mission
Capcom Classics Mini Mix
Blackthorne

Being the brilliant CAG I am, I decided to check the GameStop by my apartment now that I'm up at college.

Lo and behold...they had Ninja 5-O (and Chu Chu Rocket). :D
