i remember when they did this deal a while back, it was terrible, biggest rip off too... they act like you only pay 9.99 but still charge you the tax at 50 bucks...in my case it was 60 so it cost me about 15 bucks, not 10.

Buy 2 Heatseekers for $30+tax+shipping $35 let's say. $35+$10=$45. You can probably get a $5 discount on Brawl by doing this. Factor in gas and time and you can maybe break even.
Heatseeker was 11.24 at CC this morning, just a heads up.
I snagged one at my CC for 11.24. Now I just have to decide to part with RE4 and Brawl will be mine for $20. God bless CAG

I should find 2 copies of Heatseeker and just trade in those 2 for Brawl...it's so cheap!

Has anyone found out whether they'll take 2 of the same game?
don't forget the ebay and paypal fees...you are about breaking even

]
What? Have you ever actually used ebay or paypal? And what about craigslist? Or stand outside a gamestop for like 10 minutes until a soccer mom starts to go in and offer her your games for sale. If she balks, say "Go ahead in and check their prices, then come back and see me when you change your mind." Don't forget to add "All Wii games are fun for everyone. It is Wii law and you must obey." I bet you could even unload Chicken Shoot this way.
I'm doing Rabbids 1 (which I finally beat the single player mode last night) and RE4. I'll probably go in tomorrow.
It starts on Monday.

heatseeker 14.99 - 25% cools deals - 10% gamers card + tax = 11 even ! i am contemplating throwing carnival games into the mix
True, some of the specials may be bad, but those coupon books from the holidays made me thousands of dollars! Not to mention the B2G1 sales they have! Got to love ebay!

Sad fact is, many fools complain about the $5 off games (from the new prices) yet they still buy them. You would be surprised at how well this works. And lastly, GameStop will always be in business, no matter how people hate the company. They own the video game industry for sales (even beating out Wal-Mart). All these people complain about the company, yet they still turn hundreds of millions of dollars in profit.

Hey it could be worse. You could go to a Buybacks or some local Mom & Pop shop where they base all their damn prices on Amazon! Yes! Lets go spend $105 for SMT: Nocturne when I could get it at GameStop for $60 (if you can find it).

Those places are the real rip-offs, at least for all the good rare stuff.
My "Mom & Pop" shop here gives you $5 less in trade for the game than they charge for it used. And $60 new games are usually $40 there. They stomp all over gamestop on a regular basis. Plus they somehow manage to make room for everything down to NES games without having their store be a cluttered mess like every smelly ass gamestop store is.

Basing your "damn prices" on Amazon/ebay is exactly what gamestop does. The smart stores don't even put things like Nocturne on the shelves, they just sell them online right away. Go where the demand is..

I used to like gamestop when they did trade in deals that made it easy to sell games I got for $5 or less to them for $13-15 and such, but they've become harder and harder to exploit, and thus I go there less.

By the way, you're a moron for supporting them.
This thread delivers.
The thread's the usual. The edits in the opening post are childish and stupid, though. That said, I'd rather resell most Wii games on the 'Bay. That is, unless it's something found on the cheap.

good deal, op, if you can get the games on the list for much less than retail.

on a side note, is every GS/EB thread about bashing them? there's nothin' wrong w/ them in my area, considerin' the GC and BB's around me have piss-poor customer service, selection, and usually, prices
How would it work if I already had SSBB reserved at GS with the $5 deposit. Would trading in 2 games give me $5 credit or would they refund the credit and start over?
More than likely, it would give you 40 bucks credit on your reserve, so you only owe 5 bucks more.

Heatseeker is only $9.99 at target (if they have any left)
Ohh well, I was already going to trade in NMH and MoHH2 ($18 and $20 for them) for SSBB so it looks like I'll save $2 extra dollars...

I'd love to buy No More Heroes and MoHH2 for $40. I'd do it in a second.

But only Gamestop gets to buy games at that price from people, because people are morons. Thanks.

Firstly, thank you monkeydeew for posting the deal. It doesn’t seem to appeal to some but to others it might. Every deal anyone finds should be posted here.

Next I will defend the shoppers of GameStop.

While I am usually just a troll and rarely respond to posts I feel compelled to note how elite-ist these remarks have gotten. Saying that GameStop trade-ins are for morons or lazy people is just near sighted generalization. Listen, while we (including myself) would never fall for the “trade in your game for $10 so we can hike the price of it to $45” deals that GameStop does, some folks just want a quick out and a quick fix. My nephews don’t eBay, craigslist, or whatever and neither do their parents. They don’t want to. It’s not being irresponsible or lazy. Some folks have enough going on in their lives than to spend their life’s time squeezing every penny out of their investment. We on the other hand wish to do so.

GameStop trade-ins are for the new definition of casual gamer. This is especially true for the Wii as so many grandmas and odd folks are buying into the hype. This is where they will thrive and congratulations to them for doing so.

Lastly, GameStop themselves.

Go into GameStop and look at how many used games gather dust in there. Seriously, they give trade ins of like $5 on games that they will never sell or people use trade in deals to get the most out of their games that will realistically never sell again. Some stores are like the graveyard of forgotten games. They don’t have to take them in, and they don’t on most sports titles, but they do on many. They recoup a lot of that on the insane markup on newer trade in games. The rest pads their wallets or helps them make a deal with game companies to include trinkets and whatnots on pre-orders (don’t get me started on preorders, for which I can’t defend anyone on.)

To end it all, we are blessed. I think Japan even banned the sale of used electronics and games in 2006? Google it, though I’m not sure it passed.

The end. I’m back to trolling.

So... *if* you're going to do this, you can get Heatseeker for as low as $10, what would be the ideal second cheapest game off that list. Of course... even if it's only $20, you're still better off going to CC to avoid the hassle.
Has anyone found out if u can just trade in 2 copies of heatseeker?
It's probably going to vary store to store, but if you can do that, that'd be getting SB for $30 roughly.

Japan has something in place to get rid of electronics that are more than 20 years old or something. Used sales thrive in Japan. Difference there is people have higher standards, and a game sold without it's case/manual or in bad shape loses a lot of value, games that are older lose a lot of value.

In the US you can poop on a disc, give it to your dog for a week as a frisbee, turn it in disc only, and gamestop will charge $5 less than new for it.

Then its a case of management per store because the ones I've gone to just give the person the credit then toss the cd in the defective bin.

Interesting response. I tend to agree. Another thing I look at are the games that Gamestop gives huge credit for (~$30/$35) and they load up on the game - then it comes out Greatest Hits or PC and the new price drops to $20.

This doesn't justify everything they do, and I think most people (myself included) are annoyed not so much by their practices, but that they seem to have the attitude that they're giving you a tremendous deal when they know they're not. I understand WHY they have the business practices that they do, but they come across very insincere in the way they execute a lot of times IMHO.

That being said, I'm not sure why so many people have bashed this deal so badly. There are some cheap games on there that could be leveraged to get Brawl for ~$30. And as pointed out, there is not so much of a cost in terms of precious time to turn it all around. Just walk in, drop the games, get Brawl.

Thankfully $20 for me. Found Heatseeker for $10 at CC and the wife has finally gotten tired of Big Brain!

Is heatseaker for $10 more YMMV or if I find it in a CC, it's that price everywhere?
Is heatseaker for $10 more YMMV or if I find it in a CC, it's that price everywhere?
it is a 14.99 'cool deal'

last week the ad was 25% off cool deal games

most people were able to stack the gamers card for 10% more
Im trading in my copy of the maked queer!!
I think I'm going to keep my copy of Cock Off

The price tag said 14.99 but it rang up $11.something
As an example of how fucked up gamestop is. they sell smash bros. melee for $35 used, most places sell it for $30 new.
Actually, it's $40 used. They jacked up the price during the "25% off used Gamecube games" coupon.
Hmm... I'll have to check it out.
It will probably be $14.99 now since the 25% off Cool Deals sale has ended.

Wow....thats just.....wow. Target still has it for $30 new.

Someone posted that Heatseeker is $10 at Target, so just pick it up there I guess.

Do we know that they don't take 2 copies of the same game?

That's all totally up to your presentation and the employee you deal with. I've never had a problem trading in multiple copies of the same game. Generally, they're even sealed and I try to bring the original receipt with me. The point of any "no multiples of the same game" policy is to help Gamestop avoid accepting stolen games. I go in in my professional clothes and just present the games as a matter of course, and I've never had a problem. I also give hand jobs to the employees in the alley while they put out cigarettes on my head, so that might help you if the professional approach doesn't work.
Doesnt really seem like its worth it
Unless you have 2 games you don't want or at least one and 1 copy of Heatseeker. In which case you get Brawl for $10. So yes it could be very much worth it.
